  1. mid-may sounds likely. Then again, they are going to have to wait again, as it seems as if the break is a whole lot worse than anticipated. Seeing as he isnt being opened up, it likely isnt displaced, but he might have lightning rodded down the shaft of one of the two bones of the knuckle and that could be painful and will have the opportunity to recur, especially if he gets jammed. A broken bone heals weaker and depending on the break, the bone can remain brittle for years. Bagwell had a similar scenario when he broke his knuckle and he kept having setbacks in his recovery.....
  2. wake is going to own a team like this. They are overanxious and that is killer when yu face the knuckler. If Kazmir isnt lights out, the sox will sweep the dgays....
  3. Francona told the ESPN guys that Crisp will not even be able to work out until at least after the 9 game roadtrip and his return thereafter is questionable as to what date. They removed the splint and had to put another one on. Sounds like the fracture was a whole lot worse than anticipated, no official word, but this is not good news for he sox....
  4. Manny wont get moved now. He costs way more than he is worth at his age, even if he puts up his usual numbers. Plus, if you put Stern in LF instead of having Manny out there, your offense would be Oakland A's circa 2004 horrible. With Ellsbury pushing the envelope and Coco a lock for CF, Stern is the odd man out.
  5. I agree with the sox move on this, did I really say that, lol. Stern started to nosedive at the plate and it could have killed his confidence if he stayed up and was hitting below .100 by the time he was sent down. Also, his situation the last 2 yrs prevented him from being sent to the minors, so he has stalled at his 23 yr old level. He is on the cusp and unfortunately for those Stern fans out there, is building his resume for a trade that will likely come this deadline or in the offseason. If they leave him on the MLB roster, they run the risk of exposing him and it will drop his trade value. He will be with another team come 2007, you just better hope that he keeps raising his stock and actually brings something back in return....
  6. nah, Papelbon may need to nail this one down. 8 run lead is way too little to trust to a rookie...
  7. TB cannot pitch and aside from a few, they cannot hit either. The sox are doing what good teams do, beat up on those inferior to them...
  8. nah, wigginton is in LF, Gathright is in CF...
  9. I experiment with swings when I go to the cages and I noticed that with a sheff swing, I can get on top of a high fastball and yack it rather well. It is all about timing, and unfortunately, that violence of a swing is extremely hard to slow down and induces you to look foolish on off speed stuff...
  10. wow, he was your best pitcher down the stretch last yr, a proven playoff horse, and just recovering from knee surgery and you wanna dump him after one start? You guys are harsh....
  11. you people dont pick up on sarcasm well, do you? I was making fun of the very same people who were ashing him 5 days ago. Manny is Manny and will have a great yr.....
  12. so a red sox finish would cap his career, not his 2 WS wins, 320 wins and 4000K's? Even though Clemens wont say it, you have to think that he doesnt want a redux in boston. He was the heart and soul of a pitching staff in boston, then he was shown the door and told he was too old. He went on to have his best yrs after he left and sox fans have hated him for it, maybe they were upset at management, maybe they were envious, who knows. The only thing is, the fans bought into the boston spin machine and began to hate their former beloved ace. Now, everyone wants him back. Is there some irony there? Maybe. The only thing he could do is screw things up if he returns to Boston, and to NY for that matter as well. It seems like everyone has kinda made peace with Clemens in their mind, in both Boston and NY and if he goes to either team, it will rip open the wounds again. Mind you, NY fans still love Clemens and most harbor no ill will to him, and I think he appreciates that enough to not go to Boston. At the same time, I think he loves being home and is at peace with the way people feel about him in NE, so he wont return to NY either. He'll be in Texas in June, mark my words.....
  13. Manny is terrible. He sucks, he has lost it, BOOOOOOO Manny, f*** you manny, you suck. The sky is falling, the sky is falling!!!!!
  14. Randy cannot locate today....
  15. Kevin Gregg- pitching. I have hardly any leg kick as I drive to the plate rather quickly. Makes my fastball look faster. Pujols- hitting. I sit on my back leg, but my hands arent as high
  16. What was his last injury and how long did it take to heal? How about the one before that? Before that? It is a garbage can term that anyone likes to say when there is no actual proof of it unless you can document them consistently recovering early from injury prior to initially prognostic date....
  17. how do you know that he heals quickly, that is f***ing hilarious, lol. You wait 10 days, not really for the swelling to go down, but for the fracture to present itself. Radiographic views of hand fractures lag behing by about 7-10 days. Many times, the fracture isnt seen for a week and sometimes the fracture that is seen early is shown to be much much worse after it "matures". Either way, a simple knuckle fracture takes about 3-4 weeks to heal, that is why I said he should likely be ready by the end of april or the first week of may. IF, they scan that knuckle and it is a larger fracture that anticipated or is a slightly displaced fracture, he might need pinning and that would be 4-6 weeks FROM THE DATE OF DIAGNOSIS (ie after the 10 day waiting period). That would put him out until the end of May. If I was a betting man, I'd say that that isnt the case and he'd be back in about 2-3 weeks from today....
  18. ksush, I know you will forever defend the sox, but even you have to see the severity of the reach on this one. Clement is like a schizophrenic on his meds. He seems to do great, but everyone knows the meltdown is coming, it is only a matter of when. I dont think him getting hit in the head meant anything, he just melted.....
  19. If you are thinking about the play I am thinking of, then you are on crack. First off, stopping from a dead sprint in hard to do, and it takes time. Second off, I believe the runner was fast and would have beaten it out either way...
  20. Unfortunately you are caught in a bind. It will ruin the purity, but it will make the games called fairly. Maybe I'd support something like the NFL, where you can challenge 2 calls a game and the strike zone is not one of them....
  21. it is over, I know, but I think you and I both were bemoaning the pathetic ability of these umps.
  22. I dunno, we shall see. He has dominant stuff. His slider today was nasty and if he ever does develop a penchant for K's, it will have to be his K pitch. His sinker is something else too, but his 3rd pitch, change, is a minus pitch. I think he does not have the dominant mentality, ie, he is okay with throwing less pitches and allowing contact. When he gets going, he will average less than 10 pitches an inning...
  23. I know, just f***ing with you....
  24. I dont like playing the game of the pre-determined outcome. Either way, the sox caught a break today that "may" have won them the game. The Yankees got jobbed last night, who knows, the umps might have been responsible for a 2 game swing in the AL East and it is only week 2. 3 horrible calls in 2 games warrants suspension....
  25. all 3 have the track record of having injuries...
