  1. 4-3, only giving score updates
  2. and you are totally wrong again. Your jealousy is hilarious...
  3. It wasnt pretty, but congratulations Derek Jeter. 2000 hits by 31 yrs old, certainly one of the best....
  4. one call here or there is annoying but what can you do. 3 calls in one inning? Cmon man, you would be bitching off the wall if it was against your team. We should be down 1-0, period...
  5. I see the calls on the TV and if they are wrong then s***, we get f***ed. When they are wrong 3 times in one inning, then there is a problem...
  6. the umps have helped the royals big time. Berroa and Phillips took strike 3 and Grafannino was out at 2nd on a steal, yet it all went the other way. You give a team 6 outs and any MLB team will score some runs...
  7. we should be at 1-0, but the retarded f***ing umpire called Graf safe at 2nd base where he was clearly out by a mile. That sparked this s***...
  8. I find it funny that the globe is reporting that it is between the sox and the astros. What do they know? Seriously, there is no way the yankees get outbid for Roger if he decides he wants to come north. If he wants to stay home, then we cannot beat that...
  9. nah, we get them 9 times, 6 at home and 3 on the road...
  10. Okay, lets take a look at the team that will be out of it for the most part.... Baltimore- Benson, Chen, Lopez TB- Hendrickson Minnesota- Radke, Silva, Lohse KC- Elarton, Affeldt Seattle- Moyer, Meche, Piniero LAA- Escobar, Weaver Oakland maybe- Zito, Loaiza Cleveland maybe- Westbrook, Byrd, Johnson Toronto maybe- Lilly, Towers (nobody wants him) Atlanta maybe- Potentially Smoltz, Thomson, Ramirez Philly maybe- Lieber, Lidle, Wolf Washington- Hernandez, Ortiz, Armas Jr. Florida- Moehler, Maybe Willis Houston if they are out of it- Pettitte Milwaukee maybe- Davis Chicago- if the rumors about their willingness to blow up and start over are true, then Prior and Wood will be on the block. If those rumors arent, then Maddux will likely be the only guy on the block Pittsburgh- Oliver Perez if anyone wants him Rockies- Jennings, Fogg, Cook SD- Park, Williams SF- Morris, Schmidt Those are the guys who will be talked about at the deadline. Some great arms on that list. Some great pitchers on that list.
  11. If this is a Clement thread, this pic has to go here, this was hilarious.... http://bostondirtdogs.boston.com/Headline_Archives/BDD_MC_carl_uniform.jpg
  12. crespo, my point is, once Bonds leaves, so will their publicity (good or bad). You have to figure that he is one of the biggest driving forces for their revenue. SF is a bigger market, but they arent a top market for baseball. Once their drawing power leaves, they'll have to make a few splashes. That requires cash. Morris was signed to a 4 yr deal and he has been awful. Either way, I think they'll accept less talent if they can save some bank. This offseason will be a very lucrative one for FA pitchers, trust me, they'll want all the cash they can get....
  13. Finley is just one of them. I listed a few who have awful contracts that the yankees could eat. Here's the deal, the giants know that the upcoming FA class is great and the pitching available will be great. BUT, they have a 100 mil payroll and even when Bonds contrt expires, they'll still have a ton of cash on the roster taken up in older players. Think about it, last yr, the giants wanted 3 prospects because the pitching available was awful. This yr, they will likely want the flexibility to go out and get a Mulder, a Zito, or a Pettitte....
  14. Here's the deal, the yankees are very good at disguising cash inside of trades. Dont think there wont be some sort of money dump if the yankees need it. To answer your question crunchy, yes, Schmidt will be on the block if the giants fall out of contention because he is a FA after this season. Look at that Giants team. They are old as f*** and have some cash coming off the books. They also have some bears of contracts on that team too, with Steve Finley making 9.5 mil this season and Durham, Alou, Matheny, Morris, etc etc etc making the company dime while laying eggs. Also, the yankees have some very good young talent, but that talent is VERY young. Throw one prospect, one marginal AAAA player like Phillips or one overachieving player like Melky into the mix, we can get Schmidt. How you ask? Because we'll take Finley and eat his money. Or we could take Morris and eat his money. s***, in the RJ deal we sent the DBacks 48 million dollars just for shits and giggles. Do you really think the s*** we sent to arizona was worth what Randy was worth at the time? Money talks, we have a lot of it, and we arent afraid to spend it....
  15. that pitch right there was a hanging chad...
  16. the jump from AAA to MLB is amazingly hard....
  17. Paps is on pace for 95 innings this season...
  18. it is likely a small tear, basically equivalent to a grade 2 strain. Here's the deal, he will play and likely show small effects from it, but he is gonna have to spend significant amounts of time as the DH and only catch rarely. We need to get a 3rd catcher, someone who can play everyday and not be a complete liability. Our internal options at catcher blow....
  19. here's the deal guys. I saw a quote on here about how your 5th starter wont be under pressure to carry the team, blah, blah, blah. Guys, barring a horrendous demise by the tiggers, the wild card is coming out of the top heavy central this yr. The yankees will be there for the season, no matter what they do or who is hurt, the yankees will be there in the end. Hence every game, regardless of where they are in the rotation is going to be big. You bring up a rookie in the middle of the playoff run and ask him to win every 5 days or else you may not make the playoffs, is big. The yankees brought up wang last yr in May with the caveat that he'd likely be only up for a few games and then sent back down. There were no expectations, no pressure and he succeeded. If you demote Clement and bring up Lester to take his place, then you are putting an immense amount of pressure on the kid. That is not the environment to foster his development and if he fails and becomes a reason you miss the playoffs, then he may never recover....
  20. gets manny. Looks like Beckett is toast for the night, too many pitches....
  21. they wont go after willis. The sox had enough surrounding lester to make the beckett deal. Now, they'd have to give up their top pitching prospects, Lester and Hansen and Pedroia or Ellsbury to get him. They want 2 top pitching prospects and one top offensive prospect. Pipe dreamin bro. You are gonna have to fill from within. Clement is a lost cause man, he looks completely lost, and when he could stop the bleeding, he didnt have the balls to do it. If wells cannot last the entire yr, and the odds are he wont, you will have 2 holes in your rotation. I know Tito is loyal, but if Clement stays over 6era, there is no way he keeps his job. Hence, you'll likely be shuttling DiNardo, Alvarez, Ginter, Lester, and Hansen as your 4 and 5, and that is assuming Beckett and Schill stay healthy which is no guarantee. We have been hit hard with injuries so far, but we are both having rotation probs....
