  1. newsflash, you bought 2004 too...
  2. agreed. Your lefty righty combo or Manny and ortiz makes the entire team better. You break them up and it will be a domino effect....
  3. dead arm. Thanks guys. He'll be back either right after or very soon after the DL stint. His effectiveness will be a question that will wait for answering....
  4. that would NEVER happen. SF is a mid-level market taking advantage of the bonds publicity. Once bonds leaves after this season, the giants will go back to having a 60s-80s payroll. Eating 20 mil a yr in Manny would make no sense, especially when the guy that are giving up is at 11 mil and in the last yr of his contract....
  5. True, but the stros were in a similar situation right now as they were last yr, and clemens was a key figure in their turn around....
  6. there is a MAJOR difference between putting in 200 innings as a starter and 90 innings as a reliever, MAJOR difference. Also, that is a huge burden to put on a guy who has just been converted to a full time, high use BP role. You are asking a lot out of that arm....
  7. I am not sure how effective Wells will be. His presence in your rotation would be a stabilizing one, but that hit he took to the knee will affect him. He would have been better off being hit in his head, cause then he could go back out there right away if he survived it. Also, it isnt like he is coming off his prime yrs here, you were expecting a +3-4 w/l differential with a high 4s era. Now you have to adjust that mark downward. As far as clemens is concerned, those in the media who truly think that either the yankees or the sox have an advantage over each other right now are stupid. Houston gets first crack, if they whiff on getting him, you can bet it will open up to us, but right now we arent even in the convo....
  8. I havent really been keeping up with the games the last few days, but I did see that Timlin was placed on the DL with shoulder stiffness. I was just wondering what they are calling it in the boston media. Shoulder stiffness could be anything from dead arm which will get better in a few days, to tendonitis that is hiding a tear. Just wanted to know what they are calling it on the sox networks. Also, his injury is going to really hurt. Paps is on pace for 88IP in his first yr as a closer since college. That is a lot of work to put on a young arm. Timlin was on pace for 68IP, which isnt bad for a reliever. BUT, when you factor in that every other boston reliever has been a liability, then you have some problems. Over the first 2 months of the season, when your pitchers have handed a lead to your pen after the 7th inning, you havent lost that lead. That is equal parts timlin as it is Paps. Now, you wont have the first half of that combination. That means more innings for Foulke, Tavares and RUDY!!!! in crunch time. That can never be good....
  9. not yet you dont. You have to keep the veteran in the lineup and have him play to his potential. If Reggie puts up 25 HRs before the deadline, he will garner some nice prospects in return. He has to keep playing. BTW, Costa is not really a prospect, I think he is 26/27.
  10. Livan Hernandez is a different story. He makes a lot of money and he is on a team that cannot afford him. Add to it the fact that he has completely sucked thus far and that the nationals are out of it, and yeah, he'll be available. He may be available to any team willing to eat the 8 mil on his contract for this and next yr....
  11. Kelvim Escobar?? LOL. He is not just a 4/5 starter. The guy has pitched like a #2 thus far this yr and when he was healthy last yr and he is a FA after the season. If he stays healthy, he will get Burnett money in the offseason. If you think the angels will just pawn him off for nothing, you are kidding yourselves. Hector Carrasco is the 4/5 swing man starter the angels will try to move, but he has sucked so bad that nobody will want him.....
  12. unfortunately, at his position, there are many better candidates. If he played 2nd he would be hands down #1....
  13. They wont rebuild though, because if they want to keep the post barry revenue coming, they'll need to put some semblance of a good team on the field. So, getting extra cash and increasing their chances of landing a big time pitcher and locking up their big time pitcher in the offseason will be beneficial. As crunch said, the giants are a big market because of bonds, when he leaves, they wont be able to sustain an 80+ mil payroll....
  14. not any more, lol. Both of these guys are making a lot of money (4.4 mil total this yr), but the sox didnt do their HW on these guys. Tavarez era is around 6 in his career in the AL and he has emotional issues. Seanez has been a career journeyman who failed miserably with the sox a few yrs ago, he putted around for a few yrs, then caught on in the pathetic NL West and became dominant. He is reverting to what he is....
  15. I dont think you are right 700. I remember believing what you believe, but with the royals getting a chance to hit in the 9th and us not getting that opportunity, I believe it calls for a continuance because an inning was started without the home team having a chance to tie it up. Either way, we'd need 2 runs in 3 outs and it will get played, so it is rough either way....
  16. Kazmir is in his second full season. He wont be eligible for FA until 2010 or 2011...
  17. look at your neighbors to the west bro, Muss is all we got for now, cmon Clem....
  18. that isnt good at all. I need to see it, but that knee was hanging on by a friggin thread and direct trauma could totally ruin him. Even though he is a red sox and I dont mind when they have adversity, this is the LAST thing I want to see. Boomer will always be a yankee to me, and even when he is in the sox uni, I never want to see harm come to him. Go get em boomer, I hope this isnt it.....
  19. ouch, wow, did it sublux or hyperextend on him?
  20. someone please tell us where he got hit...
  21. hey, you pathetic f***, we all know who you are. So call me what you wish, it is all transparent you unpatriotic faggot f***. You should get your ass shitstomped by people who defended your right to be here. Call me what you want, we know who you are....
