I havent really been keeping up with the games the last few days, but I did see that Timlin was placed on the DL with shoulder stiffness. I was just wondering what they are calling it in the boston media. Shoulder stiffness could be anything from dead arm which will get better in a few days, to tendonitis that is hiding a tear. Just wanted to know what they are calling it on the sox networks.
Also, his injury is going to really hurt. Paps is on pace for 88IP in his first yr as a closer since college. That is a lot of work to put on a young arm. Timlin was on pace for 68IP, which isnt bad for a reliever. BUT, when you factor in that every other boston reliever has been a liability, then you have some problems. Over the first 2 months of the season, when your pitchers have handed a lead to your pen after the 7th inning, you havent lost that lead. That is equal parts timlin as it is Paps. Now, you wont have the first half of that combination. That means more innings for Foulke, Tavares and RUDY!!!! in crunch time. That can never be good....
