  1. I know guns is saving it and will produce it at the appropriate time......
  2. plus, wang is already damaged goods as well as pavano. and, yoiu left of wells who may end up pitching for us anyway.
  3. mj, very impressive stats. I'm talking wins and losses which I believe is how you judge the way a team will finish. we are now ready for your annual predictions.
  4. mj, you've got no pitching and thus no chance...
  5. It's all about healing. is schilling's ankle finally stabilized and strong enough to push off? is Clement's knee healthy enough to land on and is his head ok after the hit? is wells going to start the season with us and is his back ok? is foulke recovered from the surgeries on both of his knees? is Loretta's thumb healed so he can swing a bat? is gonzalez's elbow ok after his surgery? if this MASH unit is in good shape then we will do well and be in the running for the AL East
  6. The good thing about Damon is that we got his best four years. The FO didn't chase him very hard because they didn't want him and he's trying to get over that. when this FO dumped nomar no one should be surprised at them not going after Damon - they don't don't want players whose talents are declining as they get older. Thankfully the coco quest worked out and we can watch him grow into an all-star wearing a B on his cap.
  7. it may happen esp with that short porch in rf.
  8. mj, we all told you that pavano and wright would not cut it in the Al even thought you persisted in calling them the aces of their respective staffs. The only thing that is different this year is that rj and mussina are a year older and who knows about the health of pavano and wright. once again, we thank you for outbidding us for their services. BTW, Kevin is still available as a FA.....
  9. the only way giambi can make up for his defense is to DH - he is pathetic as a 1st baseman.
  10. let's hope he can pick up rf quickly at least until gabe gets back.
  11. You posters will have to get used to the rivernator or mj or bbdoc or whatever he decides to call himself on this forum. he has the thickest set of rose colored glasses in existence when it comes to the yankmees. for instance, he predicted Kevin brown would win 17 games last year along with pavano -18 - and wright 17. so, expect grandiose comments about the abilities of the world's biggest chokers w/o any thought on the comments we make about the sox players. we enjoyed his comments on the BH forum and are glad he came back for more abuse this season.
  12. so many things it's scary...... mostly wobbly ones..
  13. timlin should see less time this year. I read an article that seanz had been taking martial arts training which had renewed his strength and increased his stamina. i rememer the first time he pitched for us he had great creds but was just out of sorts at that time.
  14. the BSR factor causes one to look for a landing sight asap esp when are more than three feet off the ground. i kinda like the new SAW weapons they have - lots of bang for the buck. they have some great new ways of ventilating the bad guys....
  15. can't get enough good outfielders esp since we don't what shape trot is in right now. I'm hoping he comes to camp fired up to prove the last two years were a mistake...
  16. riske spent ten years with cleveland so he's not a spring chicken. says he makes his living deceiving batters - we'll see.....
  17. we'll probably be calling him the "Tin Man" in August
  18. hammer, love to wrap my hand around a cyclic and then pull some pitch. glad when the SB is over so we can get on to ST. lots of interesting things happening, almost all of them good.
  19. is he even on?
  20. Hammer, stang is doing fine. age is just a number, that's all. just reminds me of all the memories I have stored inside that I've enjoyed over the years. no substitute for that. where's the crunchy lad?
  21. we are getting crisp for his best years. he turns 27 in November and should be able to go full throttle for the next 6-8 years, most of them if not of them with us. he's gotten better each year that he has played - his ops went from .655 to .810 in just three seasons. hr had 42 doubles last year in 145 games. Oh, and BTW, he hit.390 with a .976 ops against the yankmees.
  22. he had one good game in ny - the only one that counted.
  23. mj, you can pencil the top six of the yankmees in for all of that but they still haven't been able to catch the sox for runs scored for the last three years and probably won't do it again. It's not the long ball, it's the doubles that make the difference - last year the sox had 339 doubles, the yankmees had 259 which put them 13 out the 14 AL teams. gotta pickup the pace if you want to be a factor this year.
  24. I suspect he is fast. wonder who will manning the windmill at 3rd base this year....
  25. Running on matsui and damon is no problem - I seem to remember sheff throwing out manny in game three of the ALCS when he treid to go from 1st to 3rd an a papi single to right
