  1. YOTN should start it. Hope he knows it's an early game. They mentioned Crawford would get a day off this week. No biggie.
  2. Quick note on the lineup change (that inserted Kevin Youkilis, moved Yamaico Navarro to the outfield, and took Josh Reddick out): "[Youkilis] came in and he said, 'There's really no reason for me not to play, I feel good,' " Francona said. "We weren't planning on playing him, but when he said it was fine, all it does is take an eraser. "Red's done great, but we kind of liked the idea of seeing Navarro out there, especially against a lefty." Said Reddick: "Just a day off, I guess."
  3. RED SOX (63-38) Ellsbury CF Pedroia 2B Gonzalez 1B Youkilis 3B Ortiz DH Saltalamacchia C Scutaro SS McDonald RF Navarro LF Pitching: RHP John Lackey (8-8, 6.28). __________________________________________
  4. Way to go Santana!!
  5. From the Globe after last night's game: Francona indicated that Kevin Youkilis would be out again tomorrow. Expect Pedroia back at cleanup.
  6. Pre-game notes from Fenway Park Posted by Peter Abraham, Globe Staff July 26, 2011 04:22 PM By Peter Abraham, Globe Staff Panic not, good people. Jacoby Ellsbury is just getting a day off after a long night of baseball. Terry Francona said he planned to give several of his regulars time off in the coming days with Carl Crawford probably getting tomorrow off. Be it Dustin Pedroia in June or Kevin Youkilis earlier this month, days off have usually coincided with players getting really hot. Given the humid weather of late and the busy schedule (the Sox are in the middle of playing 20 games in 20 days), giving your regular players occasional days off just makes sense.
  7. RED SOX (62-38) McDonald, CF Scutaro, SS Gonzalez, 1B Pedroia, 2B Ortiz, DH Crawford, LF Varitek, C Reddick, RF Navarro, 3B Pitching: LHP Andrew Miller (4-1, 4.65).

  9. Wish I weren't so fk'n tired. LONG weekend. WIN!!!!!!!!!
  10. Scheduled start time: 9:30 p.m. Posted by Nicole Auerbach July 25, 2011 08:45 PM The rain has lightened up, and the Red Sox hope to start the game at 9:30 p.m.
  11. Tonight's game is delayed Posted by Nicole Auerbach July 25, 2011 06:39 PM We don't have a time frame yet, but the Red Sox just announced tonight's game against the Royals will not start at 7:10 p.m. We'll keep you posted as we know more. It's raining pretty hard right now. ________________________ CRAP!!
  12. Drew placed on the disabled list, Weiland to the bullpen Posted by Nicole Auerbach July 25, 2011 04:08 PM By Nicole Auerbach, Globe Correspondent Red Sox outfielder J.D. Drew is headed to the disabled list with a left shoulder impingement. Tonight's starting pitcher, Jon Lester, will fill Drew's roster spot. "We didn't DL him right away because we didn't have a move we wanted to make and he could have pinch-run, something like that," Red Sox manager Terry Francona said. "Hopefully, the couple [of] weeks down will really do him some good and get him some strength back in that shoulder. Maybe we have a better chance of seeing the J.D. that we're hoping for." Francona said that Drew had an MRI on Saturday and that no specific play caused the injury. "I don't know how long it's been bothering him," Francona said. "He's been getting treatment on it for a while, a couple of weeks. This season, Drew is batting .219 with four home runs and 21 RBI, and he'd been the Red Sox' everyday right fielder until Friday -- when Josh Reddick got the start. Reddick played all weekend in right, too. This move allows the Red Sox to keep pitcher Kyle Weiland on their big-league roster. (Many thought he'd be sent down to Pawtucket once Lester returned.) For now, the Sox will keep Weiland in the bullpen. "The one thing we don't want him to do is not pitch," Francona said. "He's got good stuff. I know he was a reliever in college. It's just hard not to have guys start if they have good enough stuff. "All of us can certainly envision him helping us out in the bullpen, too." In his two starts for the Red Sox, Weiland went 0-1 with an 8.10 ERA.
