good scouting and projections?? thank christ for a minute there i thought they were bididing on the blind so based on the scouting reports did they see the # of Ks wmp would have projected over 600abs as they dumped a 15 game winner with a rubber arm for him? did they notice that jd drew hit 100RBI 1 time in his career and have they noticed how his power #s have essentially disappeared and have they considered opinions of his character and lack of courage from atlanta st louis and la?? did they notice that beckett had never pitched 200 innings in his career and had made 9 trips to the dl before we let go the nl rookie of the year and a guy who tossed a no hitter for him? look its easy for me to sit here and question the decisions theyve made, most i agreed with 100% at the time, especially the beckett deal which i truly feel will pay off this season in spades that being said please dont talk to me about this ownership group making savy business decisions after paying renteria 19M for 1 pitiful year as jd drew lugo and dice K cost us 200M over the next 5 years im not buying it and it isnt a valid excuse regarding schilling they need to pay him from a competetive standpoint,he has earned it based on his 06#s again and for the 25th time this week compare his 06 #s against the other free agent pitchers and what they got paid and i think its fair to say he's worth 13M next year -

Everyone stop looking at this from a fan perpective! If that was the persepective of the FO we have a bunch of 35+ yr olds playing for us. This is a buisness, and if you run a buisness on hopes and prayers your gonna fall flat on your face. Yes Id love to see Schilling finish his career in Boston for what he did in 04, but am not willing to hand him 13M+ for and over weight pitcher who is only good for half the season. our dutch friend makes a good point about hopes and prayers and thats exactly what this team is once again built on.... hoping beckett will come around, hoping kato can pitch in the big boy league, hoping duddy pedroia can hit my weight, hoping coco crisp and jd drew will be healthy all year, hoping 1 of the 7 men in the bullpen can close and hoping our 1st basemen plays like he did in the 1st half of the year.... as my sainted grandmother said s*** in 1 hand and hope in the other see what fills 1st ok lets look at their business decisions since we won i'll open with letting cabrerra walk then paying renteria 19M to lead baseball in errors while hitting a robust .270.... then arroyo, the man who led baseball in innings pitched,,dumped after taking the home town discount for a 4th outfielder who has the plate patience of a junkie with a hot needle in his hands 100M invested in an unproven japanese player who hasnt gotten anyone in MLB out yet 75M in jd drew, nationally refered to as a team cancer and a pussy nobody wanted him, nobody bid on him except us that i know of... 36M in julio lugo,a man who had a horrible 2nd half last season in place of the smoothest shortstop this town ever saw in agon 30M in beckett a guy who had a good month in 2003 while making 9 dl trips and posting a 5.00 era last year while resembling the eric milton of the american league.... we only gave up the nl rookie of the year and a rookie who threw a no hitter for him now lets look at the bullpen no lets not i feel like puking already after thinking about joelle piniero closing games for us with his svelt 6.5 era last summer.... lets just say that the entire f***ing season is based on a crap shoot as we post a 200M payroll while our most proven commodity, curt schilling,is being asked to ""earn"" his 08 contract what am i missing here?? i didnt bitch when petey walked,he was unreasonable and wanted out anyways i didnt bitch when damon walked for the same reasons (till they gave drew more money) i didnt bitch when they didnt offer derek lowe a contract despite his october heroics in 04 i bitched when they let loretta walk because he was cheap he was an allstar and the guy replacing him hit .089 in 85abs last year im bitching about not giving schilling a 1 year extension after the money we gambled on men who probably wont earn it and certainly dont deserve it and this is based on nothing but pure stats never mind the intangibles that i havent addressed -
billy guerin can play i noticed that nashville handled them at home last evening that nashville team looks decent what happened to detroit and denver?? they were perrenials for the last 10 years along with jersey age finally get them??

if they gave bernie that money the sox wouldnt have gotten damon they definetly wouldnt have gotten manny for that matter those were the john harrington days of ownership not the current men who spend a lot more freely 1999?? they wouldve lost that series to ny in any case with ramon martinez as their their #2 and rod beck as a pivotal man in the pen -
lots of room to fail in the potent west while it seems detroit will walk thru the east this used to be the celts issue they'd have to get by detroit philly ny nj milwaukee or chicago while the lakers would have cake walks over san antone denver dallas or occasionally struggle against houston the lakers would be fresh the celts burnt dallas will be the chalker starting the playoffs but they'll have their hands full

ac law was unreal last night and has been all year however if durant who scored 30 with 16boards got player of the year award? i wouldnt call it a robbery that was 1 of the best hoop games you'll ever see last night the more i see durant play the more i wonder who is going to be the better impact player he or oden boston needs the center big time but durant just seems to have the edge in court savy and appears more polished, certainly in the offensive end of the floor

schilling came out this winter and announced he will pitch in 08 he didnt pull a clemens and wait till march 08 to annouce he was pitching as for proving himself look at his #s last year.... thats all,no we owe him.... no lets take care of him because of 04 just look at the raw #s now compare them to what everyone else got in the market this year lilly,schmidt,meche,zito..... 13M is a bargain for a 15win -4.00 era he was in the top 10 in winning% wins era and ks while missing a month late in the season and again if he goes into october unsigned while having a similar year?? consider him gone if for no other reason than the blatant disrespect shown him by theo and the owners while they whip their skippies over other men of less character and talent heres how i see it if beckett has a good year they figure schilling expendable if becks has another iffy season then they try to resign him i just feel theyre playing with fire with the wrong man -

Of course Clemens wasn't on the mound when the Sox won the series. At the same rate, the sentimentality can still be there. Fans who understand baseball and look deeper into things realize that it was the FO that dicked over Clemens. They didn't show him the respect he had earned/deserved and he flew the coop. Did I like him playing for the Yanks? s*** no. But at the same rate, the guy's is a helluva pitcher, and I loved him while he played in Boston. I don't blame him for leaving when he did. Sure, the course of events would have been different should I have written it, but whatever. do you do drugs or were you doing them in 96 when clemens left us?? shall we walk down memory lane for a moment i wont go into his collassal playoff failures or his complete lack of courage i will simply discuss his deals clem wins cy youngs and pitches the sox into the playoffs in 86-88-90 and ended up with a 1-4 record in post season action the sox ink clemens to the best contract in bball which was 25M over 5 years clemens proceeds to go 40-39 in these 5 seasons after we got swept by cleveland and he couldnt outpitch 87 year old dennis martinez in game 1 he decides to go to the free agent market he announces i want to go to a contender and pitch closer to my family in texas the sox offered clem 30M for 5 years 1 team out bid them toronto gave him 32M for 4 years which was the biggest contract in baseball at the time anybody here who thought toronto made a good move is lying clem was a .500 pitcher for his 5 yr deal and a f***ing eunich in the playoffs toronto was the only team that bid for him its no where near texas and they were a last place team at the time blame duquette all you want but outside toronto nobody wanted his ass for that kind of money -

papi got 12M they paid drew 2M per more a year david ortiz hit more hrs in the last 2 years than jd drew did in his last 5 now i understand the market corrections and i understand that drew plays in the field as well that said i wouldnt be shocked if the big man decided it was time to reevaluate his status with the team...maybe take some time off around the break to see his sick step great grandmother maybe nurse that strain on his back for the weight hes been carrying for 3 years this isnt a perfect world and our boys are indeed human its only a matter of time before some s*** gets stirred up picture this june 1st,sox and yanks tied for 1st,drew is out a month with a yeast infection and ortiz is on his way to the hr and rbi titles...sox in ny for the weekend i can see callahan now?? david did you know that jd drew is making more money than you are?? dont you feel disrespected?? why do you let them treat you this way?? would you be the same hitter if manny wasnt hitting behind you?? why did the redsox invest twice as much in a japanese pitcher than you?? why did they let your buddy petey go? why didnt they sign schilling?? why did they waive manny?? its only a matter of time i fear every single day this front office gets more and more frightening and unpredictable -
yeah theyre great best team ive ever seen in my life who will they gag against this year??

im all for the merit system when it comes to signing free agents but the red sox dont follow the same rules, theres no consistancy, none at all it seems theyre rewarding everyone but the people who got us the title in 04 -
i dont follow the game too much anymore but the games i have watched have been a lot better than the in previous years since they opened the ice up. the stanley cup has gone from tampa to carolina and now this nashville team looks good?? i couldnt name 5 players on these 3 teams

ive heard people say they'd never pitch in ny or boston ive heard cy young winners say they want to pitch for a contender closer to their home in texas and they end up in f***ing canada ive heard our mvp say it isnt about the money as they take more money to play out west ive heard so much ******** from athletes, their agents and the smarmy little cock sucking gm's who try to be big boys..... i dont believe any of it im sure it was jd drews dream to play in fenway im sure it was dice K's ambition as a boy in seibu to play in boston i truly believe manny when he says he wants to retire here too and i believe schill when he says he will never pitch in ny too -

can you imagine outperforming everyone you work with last year while risking your career 18 months before hand to end your companies 86 year old losing stretch and then have your employer ask you to earn your 08 salary while the rest your competetion is eyeballing you with drool coming out of the corner of their mouths?? tell me how would you react to the people asking you to ""earn"" your salary after you stapled your ankle tendon to get out on the mound then rebounding from this injury and posting solid #s for the 17th out of 18th year youve been in this business?? this isnt petey asking for 55M this isnt damon asking for 4 years it was a 1 year request for an extension at the same money someone needs to step up and write the check today -

his era in the 2nd half was 4.68?? he had 15 wins he missed almost an entire month between late aug and sept or he may have won 18 question for you business people who do you want in this rotation with the ball in game 7?? anyone who says dice k or becks is a f***ing liar or worse,a bleeding nitwit if theo and the fans think curt needs to earn it so be it just remember if he does earn it?? 13M isnt going to be the price arroyo got a 25M extension adam harang is making schilling money both these guys pitch in poverty stricken cincinatti if cinci opens its vaults like that who else would go after schill?? baltimore?? philly?? toronto?? the idea that the sox are alone in the schilling negotiations is wishful speculation and more to the point f***ing nonsense this isnt jd drew we're discussing this is pitching where gil meche is at 11M and ted lilly is in the same ballpark this is pitching not wily mo pena SPLIT G IP H R HR BB SO W L Sv P/GS WHIP BAA ERA Season 31 204.0 220 90 28 28 183 15 7 0 104.8 1.22 .276 3.97 what would those #s have EARNED schilling this season if he was on the market? 86% of his starts were considered quality efforts his arm isnt a concern he wants another year at the same money he made last season the entire world, including his teamates are watching if nothing else with the young arms in camp they can learn a thing or 50 about courage, preperation, commitment and proffesionalism from this guy the idea of this guy in camp unsigned for next year isnt a good business decision its moronic and mindboggling -

No, baseball is a buisness and the Red Sox front office is made up of a bunch of savy buisness men who know what the hell they are doing. its a business eh?? who were our closest competitors in the jd drew sweepstakes? how much more did we outbid our closest competetors for matsusaka how did they do in the renteria deal?? 5 shortstops in 4 f***ing years including 2 rookies of the year and 2 of the smoothest gloves this city ever saw in cabrera and agon... the redsox front office is more dysfunctional than anna nicole smiths family and acting just as stupid
