  1. DHing, however. I'd tend to think if the Yanks weren't on the skid to end all skids, he'd be out of the lineup. They can't sacrifice his bat in a game where their staff is going to give up 6 or 7 runs.
  2. Credit where it's due...nice work, Igawa.
  3. Yea, buy current standards, I put Biggio in. That said...my dad and I were debating stuff like this the other day...and we came to a decision that the HOF is going to get watered down by this era if the bar isn't raised. Basically, I feel like if a guy is even debated before going in, he doesn't belong. I'm in favor of a one-time ballot for a guy...I don't feel like a guy should miss out one year and get in the next. If he didn't get in one year, in my mind, he's not good enough to be in. Mazeroski, for example. Doesn't belong. Great guy, hit a huuuuuuuge homerun...but doesn't belong in the Hall. You wanna put a guy like Mazeroski in the HOF alongside Mays, Mick, Teddy, and Ruth? Of course not. Now I understand that the guys I named belong in the Hall's HOF, if you will, but nevertheless, I think the bar has to be raised as we go further. EDIT: Good thread, Thumper...btw.
  4. As excited as I was in anticipation of seeing Paps slam the door on the Yanks tonight, I'm glad it didn't come to it. I don't want to take away for a single second what Foulke did for us in '04...but does anyone else feel more comfortable with Paps going into the 9th than they ever did with Foulkey? I do...even with the track records that Foulke had. I just love the kid.
  5. ...said the saaaaaame thing to the guys I was watching with. We couldn't remember.
  6. I really think there's something bigger going on with Mo than "we just have his number". His cutter doesn't have the last second break that it used to which, to me, would indicate that he's not putting that extra umph behind it to get the cutting action. A decrease in velocity like he's shown makes me think he's hiding some kind of injury, potentially a serious one. I see a DL stint in the very near future.
  7. Why would you call for new CF'er when Crisp has just started hitting the ball and showing that he still (potentially) has what he had in Cleveland and Pena, be it only one game, showed the EXACT things we've wanted to see from him? I love the tools that Ellsbury has just like you do, but see no need, if Coco keeps playing like he is, to rush Ellsbury up to the Bigs. Rushing guys up seldom pays off and will, more often than not, retard their development. Sure if Coco shits the bed and starts hitting .240, then yea, a move might be in order. Or, if Coco gets hurt and Pena is still striking out 15 times a week...but until that happens, I'm happy where we are and giving Jacoby all the time he needs before getting him into the Show. I don't think the way the O has been playing is entirely out of character...the only thing I see that is absolutley going to change is Manny sucking the house...the other guys are performing better than they have, but not above their capabilities.
  8. I know this is off-topic...but does anyone know the pitchers of record in the Atl @ Col game?
  9. Pettite is throwing a lot of balls...I expect Manny and Drew to be looking specifically at one zone and taking unless it's there.
  10. Good at-bat for Tek even though he K'ed...gotta get the pitch count up and get into that stellar bullpen.
  11. Michael Kay is such a homer I can't even stand it...I hate that I have to watch all of these games on Yankee television unless they're on ESPN. It's a sad, sad day when you long for John Miller to be doing the game...
  12. This is ridiculous...but I'm going to say it anyways because I always think about it when I see a situation like this. You're absolutely right Optimist, there are going to be enough flashbulbs at the Stadium to make the borough visible from outer space...but does any on this board do any photography at all? You use the light from your SOURCE when you take a picture...a flash only illuminates the first 10 or 15 feet in front of the camera...every flashbulb you see from the stands is going to yield an overexposed picture. Kind of disappointing for all those people, huh? Just a little note for all you guys next time you're at Fenway or The Stadium or Adam123 is at IceCapades... :harhar:
  13. Doubtful...Tavarez sucks...but it doesn't look like the Sox are eager to make a move with him before Lester comes back. It's looking like we're going to have to suck it up every 5th day and sit tight waiting for Jon.
  14. No way...you can't only be concerned with one game in the series...regardless of if they have a Jugs machine on the mound throwing 88 MPH fastballs down the heart of the plate, they still have one of the most disgusting offenses in the past 30 years. We trailed at least once in every game last series, if I remember correctly...you can't take these guys lightly...not even the slightest bit. Anyone know if Jeter is sitting again tonight?
  15. Where's Adam? Where the f*** is he? Seriously.
  16. Adam? Oh Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaadam...
  17. I offered you a trade a while back, Rick...did you not see or were you not interested?
  18. I'd say Game 1 is heavily in our favor, Game 3 is heavily in the favor of the NYY, and Game 2 could go either way. Even teams seeing Igawa for the first time are hitting him really hard, so hopefully the knuckler is fluttering and we can score Wake a lot of runs. Should be a fun series, although I felt farrrr more confident with our big 3 going at Fenway than I do about these matchups at The Stadium.
  19. Very well done, Zach.
  20. In happier news...Yankee bullpen does it again...Crawford Grand Slam off of Myers...TB leads NYY 6-3.
