I can agree with you there with the way Youk has been hitting...but with the lineup the way it is, even with Coco or Lugo, Youk will still get a crack with some ducks on the pond assuming (please don't make me eat my words, Coco) that something crazy doesn't happen.

I just don't understand what runs we're truly leaving on the table. My arguement is that it's a wash. The runs we're "losing" by Lugo not being on base in front of the big guys, we're getting driven in by Lugo in the second, third, and fourth time through the lineup. I like Pedroia, I really do, but he's not a top of the lineup hitter IMO. I think Lugo's average and OBP will rise, and, given a chance for some steaks, feel far more confident with him taking the swings than I do any other potential Sox leadoff candidate. It's not JUST speed with Lugo.

I still disagree... I understand what you're saying about OBP and what not, but whatever happened to the "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" philosophy? The Sox are scoring lots of runs and winning lots of games...a large part of this is because of Lugo's RBIs out of the leadoff spot. The bottom of the lineup has been hot, and the guy at the top of the lineup has been driving them in when his turn has come around. Like I said, it's unconventional, but I'll take it anyday.

Are you kidding? Lugo's average is low, but look at the rest of his stats. The guy is making a difference, allbeit an unconventional one, out of the leadoff spot.

In all fairness to Sheff, he wasn't coming to Dukes defense, but instead trying to offer him guidance before things get REALLY out of hand. Maybe it is a good thing? ...but probably not.

A guy emailed Jim Rome today and said this: "A while back, I went out to the bar, got RIDICULOUSLY wasted, and that same night, I got my girlfriend pregnant. Can I sue the bar for child support?" Obviously it was said tounge-in-cheek in reference to Hancock's dad looking for eeeeeeveryone possible to blame besides his son, but the scenario that the guy set up is, IMO, no more ridiculous than this whole thing.

I'm aware of the laws...I'm just debating their prudence, that's all. Similar laws are on the books here in NY where I bartend currently and in Florida where I bartended previously. All bartenders are aware of them...but to be honest with you...most of us look at it as a crapsshoot. You use your best judgement to allow people to have a good time while not putting anyone in any kind of danger. Have I ever served someone beyond the legal limit and had them drive home? I don't know of any particular cases, as I wouldn't have continued serving them, but I'm SURE it's happened. It's happened to anyone who's ever bartended. Anyone who tells you that it hasn't is lieing. To what extent am I, as a bartender, supposed to go to to make sure a guy doesn't drive? Ask him? Ok, I suppose I could do that. I have, actually. Take his keys from him? That's theft of private property. Follow him outside and physically prohibit him from getting into his car? That's unlawful imprisonment. What I'm saying is, there's only so much you can do. People are responsible for their own actions. When things go wrong, they IMMEDIATLEY look for someone ELSE to put the blame on. It's been like that since the beginning of time. Everyone would rather find a scapegoat rather than take the heat on themselves. In this situation, someone is doing the same thing, just posthumously.

I wouldn't be... God forbid that happen, but I wouldn't blame the bar. Find me one person on here of legal age that hasn't had too much to drink at the bar...so much to drink that they would be at double the legal limit. Everyone that goes out and drinks has been at that point at one time or another. It's not illegal to be intoxicated. Do I expect the bartender to cut me off? s*** no. I'm out with my friends having a good time and I can police myself. I don't need some guy I've never met before telling me when I've had too much to drink. I've bartended for 5 some-odd years now and if I was to cut everyone off once I thought that they mayyyy be at the legal limit, I'd have an empty bar and no one to serve in the first place. Am I going to serve someone who's slurring their words, vomitting, and can't walk in a straight line from their stool to the bathroom? Of course not...but it's not always black and white like that. Actually, it rarely is. People need to stand up and realize that they're responsible for their own actions. Anytime I know I'm going to drink more than my fair share, I see to it that I have a driver around who ISN'T going to get even CLOSE to the legal limit. If by some chance we don't plan accordingly, we make phone calls to friends or call a cab. We're responsible, law-abiding citizens. There was a case a couple of years ago where Aramark, who provides the concessions for Giants Stadium, was sued by the family of a little girl who died as a result of a drunk driver who had just left a Giants game. Do I feel sorry for the family? Of COURSE I do. Do I thank my lucky stars every single day that I haven't been in a similar situation? Obviously. But at the same rate, do I think Aramark should be responsible for a guy who had too many beers at a football game? No way. Kilo...if you don't mind me asking...how old are you?

I'd keep it as is...Tavarez has pitched really well against the Yanks this year, Wake has (besides the other day) pitched well against the Yanks historically, and I feel like Schill's situation is going to be huge. He'll be looking to avenge last night's start. Not that Curt isn't a competitive guy all the time, but when he has something to prove, something fueling his fire, so to speak, he's usually nasty. I like it where it is.

It was a bush-league play no doubt...but it wasn't anything RIDICULOUSLY out of hand. I don't want Schilling to bean ARod tonight, because there would inevitably be retalliation by the Yanks and, the way the Sox are playing right now, we don't need Ortiz or Manny or the like suspended. We're on a roll and I don't want anything to stop it. Remember what the Tek/ARod rumble did for the Sox? I don't want a similar situation with the shoe on the other foot. Props to Pedroia for calling out ARod...shows some guts in the kid.

I've sat in the bleachers at the Stadium for 4 Sox/Yanks games over the past few years...and I've gotta say, some of the Creatures are extremely amusing. It's a great experience out there. I wore all of my Sox gear, and I was ready to be ripped on. And I was ready to give it right back. As a Sox fan, I expect to be heckled, I expect to be ridiculed...I don't deserve drinks thrown at me (which only happened once). I appreciate the guys who know baseball and can dish it out at me, and can respect it when I come back at them. There are, however, the *******s that will just go with the "Derak Jetuh best shawtstop in baseball...26 ringsss" arguements to anything you say, and those are the guys who have no business saying anything, but I welcome guys who know their stuff to make a run at me. The other thing I've gotta say...and this isn't just at at the Stadium, it applies to Fenway and anywhere else...is use some discretion when you decide what to say. I've been to countless sporting events where guys are dropping F's and saying sexual stuff around 8 and 9 year old little girls...that's just unacceptable. All in all, dish it out, take it, have fun, but consider your sorroundings.

Yea I agree...you lose Tek's bat, which has undergone a resurgence, with Wake on the mound...I don't think you should remove Lowell's bat as well. Hinske's numbers are good, so he's probably just going with that. I don't know. But, I guess this is why we post on a message board and Tito manages the Sox; hopefully he knows something we don't.

I feel good about these games... Anyone who's really a Sox or a Yanks fan will be just as fired up for the games tonight as they would be if the two teams were 2 or 3 games apart. You've gotta respect the other club and know that no matter how many games up on team is, the other is NOT out of it until totally mathematically eliminated. These 3 games have huge implications, regardless of what anyone might tell you to the contrary. Wake pitches well against the Yanks and I don't think Wang is as good as some people make him out to be. I bet Wakefield limits the Yanks to 3 or 4 runs, we've just gotta push some guys across the plate to back him (for once) and we should get a W in game one. Great win yesterday; wouldn't have wanted to go into The Stadium after the trouncing we took at the hands of the Braves on Saturday evening. The second game of a double-header is always the game you remember, so the hitting display the Sox put on in game one would have been a wash. Let's keep this train rolling and build our lead.
