  1. A face of a team has to be alot of things. 1. Homegrown (usally) 2. Look at Chipper Jones is e charamatic? nope Just has to love the fans. 3. You can have many faces... we have Curt, David, Manny, and Tek 4. With enough experts and seeing how his preformanc was last year he IS going to be an ACE and a team leader/ face of our team Edit: Want more? End
  2. So your basicaly saying deal the future face of our team and keep an old piece of s*** and a choke artist? What are you smoking?
  3. my bad didn't know was just flipping threw pages of spects....thanks for the clarity
  4. I would let Pedrioa at 2nd and maybe after this season trade manny and get a top SS spect and sign afon or another person to a 1 year deal and let the prospect get his feet wet. Maybe Joel Guzman? A possible trade of manny for Guzman, Edwin Jackson, and ???
  5. Either Lee would be a big pickup but I would still want Derrek. Youk or Lowell both could be flops (hopefully not). Also they both are similar age (carlos is a year younger) they both probably want 4-5 year contacts but I wouldn't give anything over 3 years 40mil... we don't want aging former allstars like the yanks.
  6. I believe when win the East but as I seeing it is a flip flop all season between us and the yanks. I thought last year Holaday broke his leg? Maybe he won't be the same. Also Ryan and Burnett are big question marks. Burnett is an average pitcher who luckily found a shallow year in free agent pitching depth. Ryan was a first year closer and n one really ever saw this guy alot and was not in a pressure situtaion alot last year. The Jays I think start as the O's did last year and then tail off. Yanks I think get bothered by too many injuries too over come and that are pitching depth comes in handy at the season's end
  7. Every dog has his day... he might do well but this 1 year thing is just a stop gap ad if we do sign him on longer its for trade only.
  8. Sp your saying the Angels have a surplus of talent of the minors right? Then wy wouldn't you trade 3 to 4 of them to get the best right handed hitter in the game? If I had all these guys in the minors waiting to come up and I already have a a couple of players that will be in place for awhile I would trade for Manny and I would even relate what happened to the Angels last season when they needed a big bat. So if we can get spects, and still keep are offense in the middle the of MLB I would do this but while searching for a another bat, such as Huff
  9. Nothing left to prove? People have said all the time that this guy chokes in the big games. Big games prove that your a GREAT picture. Not a very good one. If Roger comes back and wins a WS with the Red Sox then people can put away his case as a "good one but not a great one." He can even start hearing talks as being one of the best pitchers EVER. To say he has nothing to prove is something to laugh at. Sure he has all these great career records but there will always be the fact that he chokes with the pressure on, but he can end it with winning a WS as a Red Sox.
  10. Coco is going to be a great player in Boston... I live about a hour away from Cleveland and I've watched him about 10-15 times in person. I thing I never saw was him lost in the feild but idk I'm not an expert
  11. If the was going to give Cedeno every chance to start then why did they go after Furcal? Plain and simple Cubs need a SS and they will get what they need like we did. We do not need him give Cora a chance he'll turn some heads i promise.
  12. Yeah well outta of this deal i want... thats what we all start out saying. See I just don't think teams are jumping through hoops to get this guy. He a old picter the has stated he wants a trade. Which puts us into we have to get rid of him. Baseball GMs are very smart people and the fact that they know he wants us drives DOWN his value. I don't care if he is a reasonable pitcher, hes old and this is he last year. Not something you want to give up a young arm for that could become very good for a long time. I see us getting a couple of middle to low level spects outta this... I know you all disagree but this is the logical thought and how can you disagree?
  13. The one thing I would like to know is why did we even put ourselfs in this spot. When we found out Jonny was packing it up for the extra dollars then we should have done two things. One pick up the best CF free agent left and then talked to other teams asking for a back-up. Not holding out waiting for Theo to come back and too scared to pull a deal except for the easy ones. Pulling deals that takes guts can pay out heavily for a team like trading for Damon or Ortiz. These deals were done without hesitation. If we just pick up a Lofton or someone like that this offseason we could have had talked about how we could have improved or who we had for the future... no now we're complaining that we are trading our young spects for the future for something we need NOW. Instead for picking up a ok CF and talking about how great the future was gonna be
  14. I for one thinkwe should. First trade a couple a low spects for Craig Wilson. Turn around trade him and youk to A's for Zito. A's get a power corner outfeilder and a ok young player. We get one of the best left handers in beaseball.
  15. No I'm talking about if we trade Manny for Tejada We are close to getting Reed (CF) and getting Tejada (SS) that would leave us with one opening LF. Wilson could hold the forst for a couple of year and his fielding percentage is that so horrible, I think it's around a 975 or something
  16. It's not the hes not good enough for pitt...it's b/c of the signing of Burnitz. LAst year he has a couple of injuries to his hands. Could be a good buy and a total bust. I think this is a chance we need to take. If he returns to his 2004 production we'll have a 20hr+ guy with another 85rbi+ to help out Big Papi
  17. Seems to have to have no place on the Pirates squad. Only 29 and can play either first or outfield...takes care of the whole manny thing
