    Beltran played the OF pretty well after his surgery. I am not a doctor, but I don't think Microfracture surgery involves ligaments or tendons that keep the knee stable and permit lateral movement.

    I remember the talk a couple or so years ago about his double toe tap with his front foot. John kruk spotted it in a minute in BP. He had a double toe tap that prevented him from getting his bat into the zone even on average fastballs.

    VMart didn't get any slower after his surgery. Hitters like VMart at the MLB level need good legs to provide a sound foundation. VMart had a monster year two years after his surgery. Pedey has never been fast, and over the last several seasons, he has been rather slow. That hasn't prevented him from being a top defender.

    Also Victor Martinez has played a long time after his microsurgery. In 2014, two years after his surgery, he arguably had the best season of his career.

    That is not disparagement. They didn't think he would like a part time role, because he has always been a full time player, and they thought he is not suited to a part time role. They didn't state that they were worried about him becoming a clubhouse problem. That is projection by you.

    If I had to bet it would have been a DFA for Swihart who was being actively shopped. He would have no role on the roster if Hanley had stayed.

You can't find anything definitive on it, because it is such a settled issue that there is no reason to bring it up by anyone who has a dog in this fight, i.e. the Union, Hanley's agent or the Red Sox.
