Here are my comments and observations about tonight's game and this Red Sox team.
First, wow about Chris Sale. It was pretty obvious in the first couple of innings that it was going to be a special night for Sale. I had a strong feeling that he was going to throw a no-hitter. As the K's started to pile up, I thought Cora might let him come out for the 8th inning to give him a shot at the record. I understand that with his pitch count that Cora didn't want to push it. The crowd booed when he didn't come out for the 8th.
Michael Chavis swings so hard and he obliterated his HR. He's not very big, but what power!
In the 8th inning with 2 outs and an open base, I didn't like the decision to pitch to Blackmon who I consider to be the Rockies best hitter. It didn't turn out well.
When Reynolds missed the pitch before the game winning hit in the 11th inning, I was thinking that Reynolds was right on that pitch and Brasier was lucky that Reynolds didn't hit it a mile.
As for our late inning bullpen, they have out performed until now, but there isn't a lot of reliable talent out there. I like Workman, but I have said this before. He isn't an 8th inning guy. As for Brasier, we caught lightening in a bottle with him last season. Before the end of the 2020 season, he will either be out of the big leagues or he will be mopping up somewhere. The pen needs help. Calling Craig Kimbrel.
