  1. I view Werth as a miniature switch hitting version of Matt Stairs with a lot less power. There is no roster spot on the Sox for such a player. We have a need for a power stick in the OF. That is one of our big needs IMO. Kalish would be a perfect 4th OFer because he can play all 3 positions, and getting 350 ABs would be great for his development. Nice Grand Salami against Weaver tonight! I'll go on record that Nava doesn't break camp with the Sox next year whether or not we get Crawford or Werth.
  2. They call me Mr. Glass! What movie? What character said the line?
  3. Youk doesn't have a good baseball body. He's very barrel-chested. He's built more like a lumberjack than a baseball player. Werth has more of a baseball player's physique.
  4. Abreu killing us as usual since 2006.
  5. Patterson was DL'd after he was diagnosed by team doctors as having an accute case of suck.
  6. Pull rank on your brother's friend and get yourself to the game. People do go to the games in wheelchairs. I guess the meds clouded your thinking. Oh well.
  7. I could live with Werth. We are a little lopsided in the OF with lefty hitters making us too vulnerable to lefty pitchers. In that regard he is a better fit, and he has more power, but he still has good speed.
  8. I'm a little surprised that Tito opted for McDonald over Hall against the right handed Weaver.
  9. Nava and McDonald were admirable emergency fill-ins called up for AAA. They are not options to make the 2011 opening day roster, unless the FO decides to go to an austerity program. I don't see that happening. I'd be surprised if both are still in the RedSox organization. McDonald should be able to catch on somewhere else for a major league roster spot. There is no room on the ML roster for either of them in Boston.
  10. Scutaro could bat behind Crawford on Ellsbury's Spa days.lol!
  11. I'm not going to be laughing at them if they have 2 or 3 consecutive titles from 2009- 2011, or more.
  12. Realistically, where do you think that will come out. Does Jeter ask for 4 or 5 years or more? How far out will the Yankees be willing to go? Do you think he will demand a contract that extends as long as ARod's current deal?
  13. ...and ARod goes where... full time DH for $30 million/year. Ortiz is a complete steal in comparison.
  14. $10 million per year for how many years?
  15. You have to admire his love for the game. He's 63 years old and still tossing 200 innings a year. He was a fierce competitor which belied his pacifist nature. He was also a flat out Yankee killer which is why Nettles cheap shotted him twice in the 1976 brawl, injuring his arm and ruining his career. That was the only way Nettles could hit him. If Nettles brought 2 bats to home plate (both caulked because Nettles was also a cheater), he still wouldn't have hit Lee. I am surprised that Lee has a franchise record. The article claims that he has the Red Sox record for games pitched by a lefty. http://mobile.boston.com/art/39/sports/baseball/redsox/extras/extra_bases/2010/08/brockton_rox_si
  16. The Rays with a 4 spot in the 8th inning take a 6-4 lead.
  17. Rays up 2-0 after 5 innings.
