    Tampa has 38 games left, the Sox 37 games left. If Tampa plays exactly .500, the Sox have to go 24-13 to tie Tampa. Essentially, the Sox would have to win 2 of 3 the rest of the way. They end their season with 4 games against KC, while the Sox finish up against the Yanks. There is very little chance.

    There is no defending his performance this season. There no longer is the debate whether production (i.e. RBI) vs. OBP is more important. He has been mediocre in all aspects. His OBP, Ba Avg., RBI, and OPS have all been unspectacular for his $14 million price tag.

    With the way that Overbay has hit at Fenway Park throughout the years, he could be a good FA pickup, moving Youkilis to third base. Overbay is also an excellent fielder.

    According to the NY Post, Vazquez averaged 87.68 mph on the 16 fastballs that he threw yesterday. Vazquez cannot explain his dip in velocity.

    The Sox will need to sweep Tampa next weekend. make sure that you have other plans for Saturday and Sunday, because if we lose on Friday night that will be the end.

    I'm not liking Betemit. I'm not liking that a quality stick is not being added in the OF. You may not be spending a lot, but this lineup will not close the gap with the Yanks, especially if the Yanks land Carl Crawford.
