  1. With a scheduled day off, it was a questionable decision. Maybe Francona misread the scedule and he was looking at July not August.
  2. Actually, the prediction has been a failure to this point. The question in 2006 was whether you would trade Papelbon and Lester for a guaranteed World Championship. Those who said no did so because they believed that those 2 guys would help us win more than 1 World Championship in the next 10 years. We're into year 6 of the 10 years and yes Papelbon was a key component of the 2007 Championship, but Lester despite winning game 4 was a spare part that year. The 2007 team wins without Lester, so Lester hasn't helped us win anything yet.
  3. Rodney is in for the Angels. He'll give it up.
  4. Was it a first row special? I swear that the Yankees lead all of baseball in first row HRs. Last night Grandy's first HR grazed the wall on the way down.
  5. Jeter with another infield single and Granderson with #32 to tie the game. I swear that Jeter must be the all-time leader in cheap hits.
  6. Just commenting. I don't expect a lot of reason in game threads. It's just fan reactions to game situations in real time (sort of) which I would expect to be infused with emotion. While the game threads have been emotional, they haven't been completely irrational.
  7. Being a fan has nothing to do with reason. Nothing.
  8. Why would a pitcher think that he would be healthier with the Red Sox? Every year we have one or more starters miss substantial portions of the season. This year it has been Dice K and Buchholz. In ny memory, the last time that all of our starters stayed healthy was 2004.
  9. By year end, Nova could be your number 2. The problem is that Nova would be the number 2 starter.
  10. I don't have much recollection of that sewer plant. There was another sewage plant down by the 69th Street pier. We used to fish there and we sold the fish we caught to the Fulton Fish Market. The finest Manhattan restaurants served fish that we caught at the sewage plant.
  11. Furcal was the move they should've made. not Aviles.
  12. Yeah, this Aviles thing is working out. I love his versatility. He plays 3 positions poorly. WTF was Theo thinking about when he got him?
  13. Pen is overworked. The starters need to start going deep or the arms in the pen will turn into noodles.
  14. Salty not adequate tonight.
  15. Kevin Milwood with a good performance against the Reds in his first start, but he took the loss 3-2
  16. Aviles is showing why he was a utility player for KC.
  17. I know the area. I went fishing out of Sheepshead Bay many time. It was and still is a nice area. I lived less than 10 minutes away by the Belt Parkway.
  18. He used to be an ecellent fielder. As evidenced by a recent face plant, he can no longer field his position. Plus, his best quality was that he was durable. That is no longer the case. He's not a viable starting option going forward.
  19. Welcome aboard. What area of Brooklyn is your Dad from? I grew up in Brooklyn too.
