  1. Please, it would have been an organizational disgrace to run out the like of Wakefield and Lackey against these lineups. The Red Sox are exactly where they deserved to be for this game - on their couches.
  2. LOL! You are a cheap date. LOL!
  3. It is certainly one of the most exciting WS games in recent memory, but it is hard to call a game with 5 errors one of the "best" WS games.
  4. How many pitches did Feliz throw? I would have left him in to pitch the 10th.
  5. Dewey either would have gotten a good jump on that ball and caught it without running into the wall, or he would have decided to play the carom and the second runner would not have scored. Most likely, he would have caught the ball. I think Washington is nuts to have gone to Oliver here.
  6. This is a wild game. Wow!
  7. Cruz played that ball like a hand grenade.
  8. In his first year managing the Senators, he helped remarkably improve the hitting of several guys who had never hit much. Eddie Brinkman, an all field no hit SS hit something like .280 under Williams. That was probably 50 points over his career average. Mike Epstein also had a very good year if memory serves me correctly. I think Aurelio Rodriguez also blossomed under Williams. Williams problem was that he hated pitcher, especially bad pitchers like the Senators/Rangers had.
  9. Andrus pulled a major rock there by throwing to 1st base instead of 2nd.
  10. Yep. Every Sunday there is at least one ceremony. The Fenway Scholars thing takes forever because each kid is escorted on the field by a player and they are each introduced by the PA announcer. Have a ceremony for them in the State Street Club and have a few players meet them. I'd rather see some BP.
  11. One of the truisms of business is that employers pay their employees the least that they can to retain the employees leaving and employees do only as much work as is necessary not to get fired.
  12. It was such a mistake letting Beltre walk. Look at what this guy has accomplished at his age. He is on an HOF trajectory. The Sox should have traded Youkilis and kept Beltre. This is admittedly 20-20 hindsight. It wasn't foreseeable that Youk's body would start breaking down so rapidly. Wow Cruz is having a monster post season.
  13. Not too many teams develop closers like Papelbon. Look at the Cardinals. They have had a revolving door at the closer spot. Losing Papelbon will cost the Sox the late inning consistency that it has enjoyed for the last several seasons. Bard is a great 8th inning guy, but he is not a no-brainer at closer. Taking Bard out of the 8th inning spot would also leave a gaping hole in the pen. The tandem of Bard and Papelbon is one of the best aspects of the Sox, not one of the problems.
  14. This is a poll for people who go to games at Fenway. If you don't go, please don't vote. I am trying to gauge the opinion of the Fenway Faithful. Now, maybe I'm just turning into an old fuddy duddy, but I always liked the sounds of the game-- the bat hitting the ball, the ball hitting the catchers mitt, and the umpire's strike call. If you had good seats you could hear some of the stuff the players said to each other. Today, it is so loud at the game that you can't even have a conversation during the game about strategy. A big part of the fun of going to the game is talking about it with friends. Does every player need to have their own music when they come to the plate? I don't see how that adds to the fans enjoyment. It seems to me that it is additional noise that is tailored toward pleasing the players and not enhancing the game watching experience for the fans.
  15. Jackson has become a bit of a journeyman, but he reliably takes the ball every fifth day with fairly consistent results. He shouldn't cost too much and the 5th slot would probably suit him well. He's still only 27. He could be a nice surprise at a low cost.
  16. I think he stays in Chicago if they make him a reasonable offer. The Red Sox only have a chance if the White Sox look to cut ties.
  17. He already knows how to pitch. Velocity isn't that important to his game. It's not like he is throwing Jamie Moyer speed.
  18. What, you're too old for sex dreams?
  19. Theo is walking into a situation where he'll have to build the organization from the ground up. He has one young star (Castro) and that's it. He's not walking into a star studded team on the cusp of greatness like he did with the Red Sox. He'll need a manager that can teach and drill fundamentals-- that's not Tito's strong suit.
