  1. Since 2008 I have known that he is a self-centered prima dona. The shenanigans this year confirmed that opinion and this latest BS shows it even further.
  2. If Darvish is the real deal, Valentine would know. I think his comments were very coy, and I'm not sure how to interpret them. He was very frank in his assessment of Dice K when he posted. He said that he was a back end of the rotation guy who wasn't the flame thrower that he was billed as. Maybe Valentine was more frank then, because he was not affiliated with any team, and now he is reluctant to be critical, or maybe he likes the guy and he wants the Sox to bid on him. If we bid on this guy, I have to think he will be much better than Dice k.
  3. I think the team is salvageable this season. They might need to break through the LT cap, but not by a lot. I like Bard and Aceves in the rotation. They should be an upgrade over last season and the top 3 are strong. We just need a RH OFer to split time with Kalish or Reddick. The hardest thing will be to build a bullpen from scratch. With Aceves and Bard in the rotation and Paps gone, all we have is a fat Jenks with a bad back. It will take a lot of skill to build a good bullpen from scratch, but it can be done. Tampa did it last year. If Ben can do it this year, he will have done something that Theo never did.
  4. The Cards will move Berkman to first base, where he belongs and they will probably sign Beltran immensely improving their OF defense while bringing in a nice stick too, and they'll save a load of dough.
  5. Almost every year by the time this event rolls around, the Sox have some new acquisition that has the fans all excited. This year not only do we not have an acquisition, but we lost a star- Papelbon right on the heels of a collapse. I expect the Sox staff will be extra friendly at this event.
  6. That would be a severe overpay.
  7. ARod is a better all around player, fielding and base running.
  8. A blockbuster move by the Sox. It looks like I had correctly interpreted BC's "under the radar" remark as dumpster diving.
  9. i never saw Teddy Ballgame play, but I did see him manage.
  10. Velocity way down in 2011.
  11. Please stop with Ayala. The guy is terrible. If he is our 7th inning guy, our starters had better always go 7. As for the rest of your proposal, you are basically saying be patient. It will fall into place. Maybe it will and maybe it will not. We have nothing to discuss at this point other than the possible scenarios. One thing is for certain. There are fewer available options today than there were on Monday.
  12. More from Ben:
  13. More incoherence from Babbling Ben
  14. From Benny Boy: Translation: We have no plan, but we will probably go dumpster diving. Jamie Moyer wants to make a comeback.
  15. Does Benny Boy deserve to be mocked at this juncture? Well, it hard to find anything positive to point to. The manager search was a fiasco. Papelbon walked on his watch. He made a very ill-considered arbitration offer to Ortiz-- a major blunder in judgment. We are waiting to see something positive from this guy. Until then, I will crack jokes, but I am hopeful he will do something positive. Edit: He was also asleep at the switch not realizing that Santos was available.
  16. I was psyched about our Rule 5 selection from the Cubs. I was looking forward to Doji's report about him, but I read that we will be trading him for an Espresso machine for the EMC Club.
