At City of Palms Park, as you know, the Sox used the 3rd base dugout, probably because it got the most shade. Whichever side of the field will get the most shade at JetBlue Park will be the side the Sox will take. That's my guess.

I believe that one of Bobby V's first managers was Dick Williams. Williams would give post game interviews calling out players and he do it right near their locker so they could overhear it. Personal issues should be dealt with in house. Game performance doesn't need to stay in house. If a guy throws to the wrong base or makes some other fundamental miscue, there is no reason not to call it out in the press. The fans already saw it. Everyone knows it. There's no reason to tip toe around feelings with that stuff. I have no problem with this phone call business either. Let Bobby V send a message early that when he has something to say, he expects people to listen. They don't have to like him.

Reading through this thread confirms for me what t I had been suspecting for some time-- that our farm system is pretty weak. There are few if any jewels among that rubble. Thank goodness we traded a few of the players on the original list in return for a bona fide superstar. It has long been my philosophy that the highest and best use of prospects for a team like the Red Sox is as trading chips. Hazlebaker? Goodness! That kid has no future in the majors. We saw him a couple of years in a row at the end of spring training. Not very impressive. He was so bad one night that it was truly embarrassing. Small sample size? Yes, but his play was not even close to major league prospect play.

It's just part of Jackoi's shtick. You shouldn't let it get to you. He's. A master pot stirrer. I don't mind when he throws water all over our hopes. He's a Yankee fan. That is what they do. He has other techniques that bother me. At this time of year, he might jump on the bandwagon about the Sox getting some player that he knows will not help the team. This is one of his more subtle and devious techniques, because he'll validate a number of Sox fans about the player. Recently, someone suggested getting Arthur Rhodes, who has specialized in choking, but he has made choking to the Yankees an art form. I was waiting for Jacko to jump in with great compliments about Rhodes. He must have been busy that day and missed that post, because he said nothing. His most annoying technique is his very lame way of hexing the Sox. He'll declare our victories as complete prematurely when we are still biting our nails down to the bone. Just remember, if you let him know that he's gotten under your skin, you are giving him exactly what he wants.

I would expect that Cain and Hamel will also be extended by their teams. Anyone who is looking forward to freeing up money to be used on those guys after 2012 is hoping for something that will not even be a possibility.

Cubs are also reportedly shopping Marshall. He's a really good lefty for the pen. He'd be a great 8th inning guy.

Looking forward to 2012, the balance of power may have shifted somewhat away from the AL East. Both the Rangers and the Angels have a very good offensive team and now each has some very solid pitching.

The surgery Kalish had is not a simple procedure. My understanding is that he had upper spinal surgery where a disc is essentially drilled out of his spine through his throat/neck and it is replaced with a cadaver disc. Prior to this past season, I thought he had a bright future, but there is probably a lot of uncertainty going forward after last season's injuries and surgery.

While the Red Sox have a superior top 3 starters when healthy, I think it is fairly clear that the Yankees have deeper pitching both at the major league level and in the high minors-- much more depth of good arms. The Sox organization has almost no starting depth below the major league roster. This is no great secret. Tampa also has superior depth to the Sox.

Everyone has some bad days. We just move on. I used Red Sox Destinations one time. My brother and I used it to go to Jim Rice's Hall of Fame induction. They did a really great job. They make all your arrangements and you have zero worries. Plus, they throw in some nice extras. BP from the Monster is really cool. I did that once. -
Today there is an article in the Herald about Joel Hanrahan being trade bait this off season. I wouldn't mind getting him to be the closer if we can't land a good starter via trade. http://www.bostonherald.com/sports/baseball/other_mlb/view/20111219trade_talk_doesnt_faze_pirates_closer_joel_hanrahan/ I have been reading about Ryan Ludwick as a possible RH OF for the Sox, but I'm not too crazy about this guy.

My niece lives down by you in Florida. She used to be a Marlins season ticket holder. I'm not sure whether she still has them. One time I went down for a visit and used her tickets to see the Sox play a weekend series. It was 2006, and I remember that on the Saturday, Manny and Papi both went deep twice and Papi missed a third hitting it off the left field scoreboard. Also, Lowell had 4 doubles if I remember correctly. Her seats were on the first base side in short RF. One of the bonuses was that was right where the cheerleaders would come out. She sent me a text recently asking when the Sox play the marlins this season, so I may come down for that series.
