  1. He is, if he was on any other team then the Sox, you would all hate him. He strikesout, then throws a little fit like he is a 12 year old in little league. He complains about every single call that goes against him.
  2. I use to say that about Manny, but its really getting ridiculous now. Its so annoying listen to him and watching his antics. Why have him if he hates being here and the front office doesnt like him. Theres no way in hell he is back next year either. We can win without him I hate Youk so i wouldnt mind seeing him go at the right price. All he does is complain and whine. He is a great hitter but i cant stand watching him at times. If Texiera and Youk had the same contract for the next 3 years, I would deal Youk for Tex in a heartbeat.
  3. Back to Lester though, since he threw that 1 hitter against TOR back in the end of April, he's been a top 5 pitcher in baseball. 8-1, 2.51 ERA, 26 BB, 80 K plus, he's owned the Yankees in his 2 starts against him
  4. yeah im all set about talking about that whole day
  5. Wakefield career vs. Yankees: 9-17 5.14 ERA in 214 IP But they don't play the Yankees 162 games a year, so im not really worried
  6. who else would you have rather seen? Arroyo was the only other possible option
  7. He pitched very well in the playoffs in 2003, but everyone just remembers the HR he let up to end the season. s*** happens, anyone could have been on the mound and let up a HR to Boone. But ever since the playoffs that year, he has sucked in the postseason (even though he didnt pitched much), ill give you that
  8. Are you serious? He's having an unbelievable year as a #4 starter with an ERA under 4 and a WHIP of 1.20 (his best since 2002). He has been getting lousy run support most of the time, which is why he only has 6 wins. How many #4 guys in any MLB rotation, have an ERA under 4 and a WHIP under 1.20? Actually, only 20 starters in baseball have a WHIP under 1.20 this year. And he's 45th in ERA in all of baseball, so i wouldnt say the guy sucks
  9. I think if the Sox make the playoffs, they'd have by far the toughest 4 starters in the AL. Starting pitching has proven to be one of if not the biggest thing in the playoffs.
  10. some more quotes http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/extras/extra_bases/2008/07/manny_speaks_2.html http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/extras/extra_bases/2008/07/lugo_on_manny.html maybe he should really goto Iraq and play there
  11. yea, its gonna be really hard to move Manny within the next 4 days. Especially if the Phillies are the only team. Id love for the Dbacks to try and get involved in this. They have a lot of people id be interested in return for Manny.
  12. TO BOS: Teixera, Werth/Victorino, Gonzalez TO PHI:Manny TO ATL: Youk, Cardenas some prospects probally added to completely random haha, but maybe something like that could work :dunno:. obviously Tex would have to sign long term Pedroia Werth/Victorino Ortiz Teixera Lowell Drew Lowrie Varitek Ellsbury and we get rid of the 2 most annoying guys on the team in Manny and Youk
  13. mlbtraderumors I dont see the Dbacks making a big push, they dont seem like a team that would go after Manny. The Phillies on the other hand, imagine that lineup + Manny?
  14. Bowden's stock has gone up a lot this year, but i think that the Rox will insist on Bucholz or Masterson in return for any deal involving Holliday, especially if Fuentes is involved to.
  15. the sox havn't made a good deal in season since they traded nomar
  16. the only thiing about a 3 team blockbuster like that, is that those type of deals usually take a lot of time. Theres only a couple days left till the deadline, so i dont know if a deal like that could just happen within the next 4 days.
  17. I think this might be the year they make a deal, he's expendable with Drew, Lowell and Youk all having good years in the middle of the lineup and this has been the worst year for Manny and the Sox organizational problems. The only thing is, is there a team out there who would be willing to give up what the Sox want in return for Manny?
  18. trade him to the mets for Fernando Martinez, Robert Parnell and Fransisco Pena
  19. my sleeper pick is Sizemore, but i think Utley wins it
  20. imagine Ichiro, with 15-20 HR a year? Thats what this kid could potentially do. Sox have a lot of yound talented OF's in the system with Ellsbury, Moss, Reddick, Kalish, Lin and Place
  21. redsoxprospects.com Scouting Report: Spectacularly athletic centerfielder likely would have been a supplemental first round pick in the 2007 draft had he been eligible. Ichiro-like speed with a cannon arm. Makes good contact - quick, strong wrists. Decent gap power, hits well to all fields. He's struggled with off-speed pitches early on. Exceptional glove and range in CF, and his arm is both very strong and accurate. One teammate commented positively on Lin's range, stating that it looks like Lin is "gliding on roller skates" in the outfield. The Red Sox outbid several teams for Lin's services. Also, at least one team significantly outbid Boston, but Lin preferred to play for the Red Sox organization. MLB Comparison: BJ Upton didnt see any thread on him, so i thought id start one. Anyone see the Futures game today, he got MVP as he hit a 2 run HR in the INTL 3-0 win over USA. Kids only 19 and has a lot of potential. Sounds like the real deal.
  22. i doubt they'd move Doumit to, but Paulino had 2 solid MLB years before this year, and since they sent him down to AAA he's 16/39 with 4 HR. Maybe they still have some hope for him to regain form and would be willing to move Doumit for the right package. Your right though, the Pirates would demand a lot. I dont want to get off topic here, but the Sox need a young catcher and Teagarden is not the anwser. Doumit would be my number 1 option for a young catcher that could be had for a reasonable price possibly.
  23. Wilson is atleast better at all facets of the game then Lugo, except for stealing bases. I still expect Lowrie to be the starter next year. Doumit could split time with Vtek and hopefully light a fire under his ass. He'd be the everyday starter next year. And Marte hopefully could bring us some relief help. Reddick/Kalish, K Johnson, Lugo (eat some salary) and Kottaras/Wagner would be my starting offer
