  1. agree, i think wells is either on the DL by July or in SD
  2. im only sold on the unit for u guys. he will have a dominating year. as for mussina, not sure yet but he has looked good in his first few starts. if he has 2 more solid starts, ill be sold on him. Wang could be good but id say he needs to put together a couple more good starts as hes not proven yet. Chacon i think will blow up this year and Pavano i honestly have no idea what he will do.
  3. if beckett, schilling and wakefield stay healthy, they are pretty much locks in the rotation. If clements pitches as well as he did the other night consistently, he will also be a lock. This leaves 1 spot. David Wells will get the first oppurtunity and if he fails i hope to see Papelbon get the 2nd chance. That would be a scary rotation.
  4. if foulke can consistently be at 88-89 with good control, he can regain his 2004 form as closer. Hopefully he can and we can move Papelbon in to the rotation if wells sucks, which i believe he will. good news for foulke then. interested in how well stern plays everyday in AAA this year once he goes down (april 19th i think). I think hes an underated player who will tear up the international league.
  5. anyone know what foulkes fastball range was today? was he hitting high 80's?
  6. he was consitnely 89-92 and got up to 95 in his last inning
  7. imagine a rotation of Beckett, Lester and Papelbon in about 5 years.
  8. tonight he did look awful in his AB's, but thats only 2 at bats this year. You throw him a fastball and 6/10 id say he hits it hard. He still needs a lot of work, but since hes only 24, he has time to mature as a hitter. If he can get better strike zone discipline and learn how to hit a curveball, this guy will be an all-star in a couple of years
  9. original...
  10. this thread looks like it will end up in "Fights and Crap" just ignore bosox34, he obviously has no idea what hes talking about
  11. as long as Wells can be a solid 5th starter, im perfectly fine with Papelbon closing. But i think that if by mid season, wells or someone else is injured or not pitching good, papelbon should be in the rotation and hansen should close.
  12. his splitter and slider will only get better as he learns from Schilling who throws those pitches pretty good.
  13. huston street was in college at this time in 2004. one year later he had an era of 1.72 era with 23 saves. i also dont think Wells will have a good season. there hasnt been any proof yet of him being ready. he pitched bad last night at pawtucket and didnt pitch well in spring training. rotoworld-- are u serious. his slider and splitter looked pretty good tonight and have been the last 2 years. Maybe not dominant but pretty damn good
  14. id like to see foulke traded at the deadline and for hansen to come by that time and be our closer. I think Hansen could be the Huston Street of last year, this year.
  15. I think Tavarez/Riske pitching the 7th, Timlin the 8th and Papelbon in the 9th is potentially a great bullpen. Ya tavarez is a nutcase, but hes a pretty good pitcher.
  16. Foulkes first out last night came on a bunt by melvin mora. so theres one easy out. Next batter he gave up a line drive single to chris gomez. Then on a 2-2 pitch to Jay gibbons, gibbons slipped while swinging which led to an easy double play. Foulkes performance last night doesnt mean nothing. I think we need to trade him before he loses his trade value.
  17. millar had a 0% of continuing that inning against papelbon
  18. papelbon is f***inggg nastyyyyyyyyyy
  19. i love how papelbons not afraid to pitch inside to these guys
  20. coco and lorretta > damon and renteria i think the lineup is much better. Coco will hit as well as Damon and add around 15 more steals than damon. Loretta can handle the bat real well and is one of the best 2 hitters in baseball.
  21. great job by Timlin in the 8th to give Papelbon his 2nd save oportunity
  22. i hope to god foulke doesnt pitch the 9th
  23. now we got timlin in the 8th, papelbon in the 9th
  24. big K there for schilling to end the inning and his night
  25. ******** call there, clearly hit the bat
