  1. I notice you purloined my title mvp---but we know better. Soon as I learn how to do that I will put the Dean of something there. To be a Dean you have to have the most posts, have been on board the longest of anybody, or are the most senior of the bunch. None of them are you. Still enjoy it while you can because you're going to have to share it very soon.
  2. My wife says I'm weird!!!!!! I can live with that because she usually knows what's what. I'm certainly not your garden variety run of the mill types. Besides, there are a number of us who fall into that category here. More variety the better. What we don't need is a MSNBC type echo chamber. I used the TV station instead of another board.
  3. Love it User---especially when you have the ignore button to use. Believe me, it can be a revelation.
  4. I finally preempted you Ted. Put the dipshit on ignore two hours ago. What a relief not to have to listen to his BS anymore. If Dutchy was anything like him I now know what you and o thers meant when you mentioned Dutchy.
  5. It can turn into a battle but if Clay does his job and some of the guys we depend on do theirs with the stick we stand a good chance of getting the hat trick tonight.
  6. Listen good Kimmi.......I did not send him that filthy and vile PM....he sent it to me. If you can't see the difference then you are more connected to whatever he calls himself today more than you ought to be. He cussed me out, not the other way, and if you don't want to be fair and open minded about it maybe we ought to stop communicating as well. This post of yours really got my blood going----and he has been painted in a negative light by others a lot more than by me. Now we stop this crap right now. I also put your friend on ignore and there he will stay. Unfortunately, I should have been the first instead of the fifth or sixth.
  7. Well some teams have to be watching. We need another solid starting pitcher, a one or a solid two, and we have the means to trade for one. Let's hope this trend continues and we can close a deal CP. Maybe one for a solid reliever too? Doesn't hurt to be ambitious.
  8. I appreciate you having my back CP and can't thank you enough for that. Cycles and I will have to settle our differences via PM's because I'm certainly not going to apologize to all those unnamed people he accused me of s***ing on the past how many years when two camps were chomping their arguments that led to a breakup of that board......something that must NOT happen here. He seems to be carrying around some anger but I'm willing to meet him half-way----half way. Thanks again my friend. Hey, we're 4-1 and have taken the Yanks two in a row. Let's try for the hat trick tomorrow. Maybe this IS going to be a much better season than last.
  9. Well Bos, some people are pretty set in their way and are reluctant to see that some posters have a different take on things. Sabermetrics is ok by me if it isn't carried to a ridiculous extreme as an end-all. By that I mean the bean counters and figger filberts can use those means to measure things but sabermetrics cannot measure a player's heart, guts and balls. Only observation under game conditions can do that, but for tendencies and predicting what might occur on a given play or with a particular batter it certainly has its place.
  10. I really want to put this s*** behind us once and for all. You apparently didn't buy what I was saying and sent me that rotten PM which I thought was uncalled for. The ball is in your court. We can try and put this behind and proceed from this point or have a cold war on this board. I'd rather not have that. It is time to move on.
  11. Believe me, you have no idea about that guy. He answered my call for unity and cooperation this season with a vile and nasty PM to me this morning. Hey Kimmi, bet you didn't know that, did you? We've agreed not to answer any posts by the other and that should stop the clamor. So far, this board is getting along pretty well in the short term. Maybe winning helps a lot too.
  12. You don't trade them PERIOD!!!!!!! With some of our hitters off to a slow start we hope this is only a temporary problem. If it turns out two or three of them have trouble getting untracked these two are good to have around. I also think both Holt and Nava have been underappreciated by some people around here. They can be a big help to our team....as they showed today.
  13. f*** Ogando, f*** Wright, f*** Mujica!!!!!!!! I think our bullpen could use a couple of arms that can get outs consistently. Good thing we put some runs on the board and took advantage of some Yankee screw-ups. BTW d-money, and the rest of you.....I have a hard time watching the game and trying to post on the game thread. I know I cannot multi-task and my wife never hesitates to remind me of it.....but this is ridiculous. I'll try and do it tomorrow. Hey Kimmi, if you're tuning in----remember you talked about going 6-0 the first half-dozen games and I poo pooed that? I think I said be grateful for 4-2. However, we can both split the difference if we can turn the hat trick tomorrow. Sure seems better than what went down the first six games last season.
  14. You hit upon something Spud. Is it possible that our bullpen might be a bigger problem than our starting rotation. Seeing Mujica in the game last night scared the s*** out of me.....and with good reason as it turned out. I also don't care what some pro-Wright people think, I don't think he offers much to the Red Sox unless he also wants to scare the crap out of us every time he goes out there. What the hell, though. We have already won this series----and can we turn the hat trick tomorrow? That would really be a hoot.
  15. Kelly heard you JE. He pitched a helluva game today and if it wasn't for that hiccup with those walks in the second it would have been a total gem. He has now beaten the Yankees three straight times since we traded for him. Who knows? We may have a secret anti-Yankee weapon here. We'll see.
  16. A bow to Dojii.....he has always been a Nava fan and to a lesser extent so have I---except for the miscarriage by Farrell early last year when he tried to make him a leadoff man. He has come through two games in a row for us against our biggest rival. Let's give the guy his due and admit he has earned the right to some respect.
  17. So would I even though I know you're not a Hamels fan. I am and think right now he is the best option for us. Face it, we can use a good top notch starter and I am not discouraged at the way he looked in Game No. 1. His past performances against the AL East could be cause for concern but we have a surplus of prospects, some of whom might never get to Boston. I would like to get our pitching in order before too long and before some of the current stock start breaking down.
  18. Dupree, good to see you back posting here. I missed your missives. As for Hamels, one game does not a season make and I would still make a play for him if the Phillies demands have come down a notch or two. Face it, we have a large surplus of players who rate fairly high down on the farm and some of them might never see Boston because of what we have now and in the high minors. I would like to get that pitcher as soon as possible because it would enhance our chances of getting to the post season.
  19. And you know at least a couple of them from the Pollyanna board----and one who infiltrated this one. Women can be stubborn too. Much as I like you Kimmi, you can get your back up with the best of us. Some game last night........er morning, huh? I didn't know who won until I took a potty break at one in the morning PDT.
  20. Bos---we never get anywhere with this topic and no one is going to change their minds on it. I happen to agree totally with you on this and so do some others, but there are a large number of people who don't. I wish we would just shitcan this topic once and for all before tempers start flaring and we have a flame war on this board, and the Dean here would not like that. Suffice to say that both camps can put forth sound arguments for their cause and we ought to let it drop with that and just respect the right to disagree.
  21. You're right Kimmi........Pedroiphile, also known as Mark from New Hampshire, used to communicate regularly on another board and got along well until the collapse of 2011 which I predicted and he thought was just a blip on the radar. From there our relationship went to hell and on your other board he sent me a real nasty PM. To me, the guy could NOT admit he was wrong and he made it personal. Frankly, I hope we can put that all aside and be respected colleagues again. After all, I'm the Dean and have to set an example and I can't do that being a horse's ass. The thing you and others must understand is that 700 Hitter and Iortiz are two of my closest friends on this board and I have this itch to defend them when they are attacked. I'm hoping the attacks cease and we move on to better things this season as hopefully do the Red Sox.
  22. Ted---maybe the guy has changed and maybe from what I read he hasn't, but I knew him elsewhere and he could be a real pain in the ass when he wanted----and he never admitted when he was wrong. He used to post on an old board under Pedroiaphile and on some other one as Mark from New Hampshire. He and I once got along real well but that went south during the collapse on 2011. We took opposite views and the relationship collapsed. I don't think he posts anywhere else now but the Dean here wouldn't be surprised if he still carries that chip on his shoulder. We don't communicate anymore.
  23. Bring us luck Israel. We want to take this series and I want it very badly. The Yankees pushed us around last year. This year we have to make it our turn.
  24. The Dean here says that if Masterson can give us six good innings and Ortiz and Co. do more than get two runs and three hits our chances tonight look pretty good. We should take this series but there are no guarantees in baseball. As early as it is, losing this series could start posing some questions about our staying power, but it shouldn't. We should win tonight.
  25. Well tonight cinches it---we'll just have to bomb Iran!!!!!
