  1. ughh this is a tough one, no one likes bonds as a person and i dont think anyone could make any type of argument for the fact that he is not nearly a good guy. that and the fact that he hates boston and thinks we are all racist wouldnt sit well with me if he were on my team. But there is always a flipside and those numbers he would put up with papi and manny in front of him would be somewhat enourmas. BUT then there is the s*** of an outfield we would have to deal with everyday. if he is a last option he is a hell of a good last option but i would do anything else possible before relying on bonds
  2. what does it stand for?
  3. thats like saying jeff hardy is good but cena is better, they but both are wearing gold so whats it matter? but in all seriousness D-Mat is better
  4. Now im not sure about the "cant hit to the right side" but doesnt that description sound a hell of a lot like bellhorn? IMO and im sure everyone elses here youk is a major upgrade over bellhorn, and he worked out for us pretty good right? Granted he gave us our fair share of headaches with all his stike outs he got what we needed him to do done on most occasions. I know our linekup isnt nearly what it used to be during bellhorns tenure but it is still pretty good and i think thats a good case to be made for Youk hitting #2 next year. HOWEVER if Coco shows signs of what he was in Cleveland i dotn see how there is anyway you could keep him out of the two whole. This should be a back and forth battle throughout ST and the frist few months of the season until we decide what the lineup can do and what we need more out of the 2 hole in the lineup. My vote for how our team looks now would be Youk though.
  5. im not comfortable with him closing because im under the impression that he can be dominant as a starter too and it would be better for his health to as i understand
  6. well how long has it taken so far? at this rate i am having serious doubts anything gets done and have no optimism for any type of time frame nvm for it to be done in a week. mostly just because i have heard no hints of them being close, all news ive heard has been the same since the physical
  7. test is most deffinately a juicer along with lashely
  8. posada giambi r. johnson and kenny rogers the first one cause of that double off pedro and the little fist pump thing pisses me off everytime i watch the clip (even though it would have pumped me up if it were a redsoxplayer) and the last three cause they are dousche bags oh oh and dx what pricks they are
  9. i voted hansen i dont follow all to much of our minor leaguers but all i heard last offseason was how spectacular this guy would be for us down the road, i dont see why we should give up on that. piniero would be too bad but from what i know about him he had one or two good seasons got injured and wastn even close to the same guy. just let them go at it in ST and dont be afraid to switch throughout the season if one is inaffective
  10. ....feed the world
  11. i agree with 700 i dont like the idea of a rookie just being given the job, especially seeing as he didnt do much special last year ( i know i know not a good sample size) but if no one is even looking at loretta you might as well get him even if just to give pedrioa something to play for in spring training
  12. jeter and matsui are my favorite yanks oh yeah and i wouldnt mind having damon back either
  13. why are you giving us a link that you say is manny for penny and prospects when everyone is reading this thread looking for a link about manny for jones broxton and loney PLUS who even knows if thats what the link is talking about cause its in spanish
  14. i wouldnt be at all surprised if we actually finally got a manny deal done and then he blocked it being a 10/5 guy, just manny being manny if he does
  15. i didnt say that drew is better im saying i think theo holds drew in extremely hard regard for some reason. and Abreu is a bargain NOW but nearly everyone is compared to the players signing contracts this offseason
  16. First of all sorry i dont use puntuation too often im used to typing on AIM with friends and they dont really care, and secondly i dont ever capotalize because i use word prossesor and that does it for me so im probably not the most well groomed typist but i will try and do better out of respect for you guys. Now to the important stuff. It is quite possible that i am just one of the young kids that give Theo too much credit and too many free passes all though i do realize he did create 04 by himself. However in reference to the Abreu thing i think he had insight to save money and get ready for the offseason, probably not the most popular thing cause thats kind of giving up on the season when you still have a good shot at it, but i think he saw a guy that he apparently loves in Drew and rathered him over abreu for one reason or another. Personally im not a fan of Drew, and i dont know anything about the bad decisions he made when he was first drafted, or how players hate him in the clubhouse, but i know he is always injured and growing up with the stereotype of dirtdogs and playing hurt and all that i dont like people that dont show much heart. Unless your name is Manny Ramirez and then you can do whatever you damn well please. And i would say the market did change significantly over the past year with the luxury tax mark being raised teams are spending like crazy's. The Houston Astros just spent 100 mil for Carlos Lee a few weeks ago and i think proof of the market explosion would be to compare his contract to Damons of last year who got 52 mil over 4 years. I personally would take Damon over Carlos Lee any chance i got. Not to mention the difference of the market between New York and Houston where obviously NY is notorious for over spending on players.
  17. letting go of hanley may have been a mistake ill give you that but there is no way sanchez does what he did in the ALE and someone brought up that point which you reffered to as hippocracy. which now means you think that annibel sanchez is the same quality pitcher as josh beckett. if we are hippocrats your retarded. honestly tell me you would prefer sanchez rather than beckett dont factor ramirez into it at all, sanchez or beckett, and then ill give you that point too. this one ill give you however i disagree with the fact that he "let" him walk i dont know what may have happened there but we were obviously a less productive offensive team without damon leading off and if anyone disputes that i would like to hear their argument im with you id much rather spend a shitload on abreu for a year and a couple months rather than on a stud pitcher entering his prime. its a different market this year than that of last which is one reason he would sign for more and he plays a position that the redsox desperately need filled, last offseason they had a replacement coming in a deal that was in the works during negotiation with damon for a younger cheaper (dont bring up wily mo please) PROVEN kid. there is no way in hell last offseason theo or anyone else on this god given green earth was thinking that cla merideth would be the future boston redsox closer over craig hansen and again if you tell me that last year this time you were thinking that go ahead and take that point too you can have it. and arroyo didnt just come out of no where this year he went to the NL on a crappy team in a crappy division you say josh beckett isnt any good he was pretty god damn good in the NL if i remember correctly. and i was at that game May first when maribelli got the police escort the place was estatic, i got tickets to wrestlmania and if that gives me half the chills i got when i heard the starting lineup that night it will be more than sufficient, not to mention all the yankee fans around me that night were s***ing themselve when the scoreboard started playing the clip of him running into the park did you want this part disproven to or uhh can i just leave that?

    GAHHH

just last weekend i traded Vick and Tiki for mcnabb!!!!!!! granted there are only 5 people in my league so it doesnt cripple too signifacantly
  19. oh sorry i didnt see a thread on it
  20. sorry this is really off topic like 100% but i didnt want to post a new thread for something so stupid as this. yesterday i was watching ESPN when i fell asleep and i woke up for like a half minute so i was still half asleep but while i was awake they were talking about the AL MVP and i thought they said that Justin Morneau won it tell me that this was just me dreaming or the guys opinion on who should win. and if it is one of those when is the MVP's announced?
  21. if we have wily mo in right we need a signigicant upgrade somewhere else id say (like center) however i feel bad just dumping coco cause he is an allstar but i just dont think you can take any risk of him not being as good as he actually is cause i dont think sox fan are going to be pleased with another 3rd place finish
  22. i disagree with the fact thats its only a "good AL lineup" we, the redsox, have a good AL lineup, one with crawford blalock cabrera martinez and jack wilson would be one that could keep up with the yankees in scoring runs, and if matsuzaka can shut the yankees down like he did those guys he is well worth the 100$mil that we would be giving up for him, if i wasnt pumped before you can bet i am now
