  1. Dude get off your soap box. A team needs good announcers to make fun of someone else's announcers? What kind of s*** is that. They aren't on the team. Its not like a pirates fan is saying the cubs suck. If a Red Sox fan doesn't like a yankee announcer it has nothing to do with the fact he announces for the Yankees.
  2. The general opinion on this board throughout the year seems to be that Coco Crisp has been a disapointment. Some people have concluded that the injury can't be blames because he doesn't seem to be turning around and hes been back for a while. I've decided to look at his numbers going back 5 weeks to July 7th. He ended a long slump that day going 2/4. Since July 7th hes gone 40/132 with 9 bb's, 9 2b, 1 3b, and 2 HR. He has posted a line of 303/362/432 avg/obp/slg and an OPS of .794. These aren't great numbers but i think they're better than most people realize. The only number down from his last years number was his slg%. I think hes going to be around for a while and I don't think thats a bad thing.
  3. The interesting thing about this offseason is we have some money to spend. There are not alot of big names out there this year. If you assume Wily Mo in right and pedroia at second that leaves SS and pitching. In the rotation you have Schilling, Beckett, Wake, Lester, and Clement. Clement probably gets traded for whatever we can get. Available starting pitchers are: Zito, Schmitd, Lilly, Mulder, followed by alot of risky pitchers. The only real SS available are Gonzalez and Lugo. It would be interesting if we bring Gonzalez back, and spend our cash on the japanese pitcher Matzusaka, but that will probably cost lots of money.
  4. Whats ironic is in baseball a different team has won the world series each of the last 6 years, while it seems like the patriots, eagles, broncos, steelers, and colts have been dominating the NFL for a while.
  5. Note to the espn announcer, balls of the wall are not home runs.
  6. No, he's just an insane old man whose a giant homer. He's there version of Tommy Heinson but Tommy is smarter and I like him.
  7. "Crede is the best third basemen over the last 50 years, including Brooks Robinson." -Hawk Harrelson
  8. Crunchy, you can also drop the "we should've traded Lester for Oswalt argument." Its rediculous. The trade would've been Lester, Hansen, and Crisp for Oswalt. This was before Nixon got hurt so I assume Wily Mo would've played center the rest of the year. Yes, Oswalt is a better pitcher than Lester, but at what cost? We'd control Oswalt for the rest of this year and next year. It would cost a similar contract to whatever Zito gets this offseason to keep him. Lester is a rookie making the league minimum and under our control for 6 more years before he can become a free agent. The same is true for Hansen except he is making 1 million, not the league minimum. While this might improve us this year it hurts us for the next 5 years.
  9. Which brings me to my next point, don't smoke crack.
  10. Its pro rated. Hes been getting paychecks all year that come off of that 9,000,000. It would be around 2.5 million.
  11. Hey Shopach, there are still 3 outs in an inning.
  12. I think we have a pretty good replacement for Nixon, and I think the price of starting pitching was more than they wanted to pay regardless.
  13. agreed, especially since we haven't had anyone in this role all year. He's done really good the first time through an order.
  14. Johnson has had 2 really good starts in AAA, if Snyder is unavailable I don't see why we can't give him another shot.
  15. why is it an auto loss? Because he warmed up Snyder?
  16. duaner sanchez is out for the year with a seperated pitching shoulder. http://www.rotoworld.com/content/HeadLines.aspx?sport=MLB 3/4 of the way down on the page
  17. I don't think we could've gotten lidle without also taking Abreu. A part of the yankees willingness to take on that contract was that they also got lidle. Wells has been bad his first start off the DL before. We don't know what Mark Redman or Tony Armas would've cost. I bet they were asking for one of delcarmen/bucholz/bowden.
  18. I have far more confidence in david wells than oliver perez for the rest of this year.
  19. Can you think of one rumored trade we should've done? Do you really have more faith in Kip Wells than our fat Wells?
  20. The curve ball doesn't look awful, hes just not throwing enough fastballs to keep them honest. Seems like hes afraid to throw the fastball cuz hes only getting 87 on it.
  21. Not really complaining, just saying we stole a call. I like to be honest. The point of my post was to compliment wily mo.
  22. Got lucky on that no strike call, but when wily mo hits the ball he really hits it hard. He might already have more xbh this month than nixon.
  23. I agree, much more likely that its due to injury. Throwing 100mph at a young age is very bad for your arm. Theres no way steroids add 7-10 mph on a fastball.
