  1. Hmmm maybe we should check out a Cubs forum, he might even have nice things to say about the cross town rivals.
  2. Exactly, just think if Johnny Damon or Rent gets on board for either of Manny's two HR's in game 3, they suddenly become 2 or 3 run shots and do a lot of damage. Our philosophy didn't lose us the game, we just got outplayed.
  3. Dude, I'm pretty sure we won the World Series last year playing the same style of offensive ball we played this year. The only difference is, last year we had: Schilling, Martinez, Lowe, Wakefield, soild bullpen, a healthy Foulke. It's true that superstars don't win Championships, but Manny is far to key for our team to just trade him.
  4. I was using exaggeration to prove a point. The fact remains, some white players will be effected by this new rule.
  5. I think someone just laid the smack down.
  6. Well, USC gets my blood boiling a little bit.
  7. Ummm Steve Nash dresses like a hobo a lot of the time, so this rule effects him as well. I hate how everything is made about race these days.......:thumbdown
  8. USC got a lucky call. Go ahead, bask in the "glory" of a missed call and lucky break. The fact is, you were out played in that game, there was a missed call, you should have lost. And I CAN"T wait for Texas to demolish USC. Because right now I hate USC more than FSU, and if you know me at all, for me to hate anything more than FSU is quite a statement.
  9. I've always hated the White Sox, and watching them win is sickening me. No new hatred.
  10. Wow, I don't want any players from Arizona, Cleveland and I'm not sure who Anahiem would give.
  11. Well, if we trade Manny, we'd have to pretty much. Because we couldn't play big ball if we take out 40+ HRs and 130+ RBIs, not to mention Manny is Ortiz's protection. Manny is our most important hitter bar none.
  12. Small ball is great for certain teams. It works for the Minnesota Twins. But the Red Sox are not a team built to play small ball. You can't drive your Corvette like a semi-truck. We have an offense that likes to score often and in bunches, why change that?
  13. Thank you, that was by far the best commentary in this thread. I hadn't even thought of that myself. We need to keep Batman and Robin together as long as possible. What we should be focusing on is getting more arms in the starting rotation and the bullpen. The offense is still explosive, and we shouldn't really be tinkering with it.
  14. I'm not blaming it all on him, but he's been talking about what a "tablesetter" he is all the time, so if you're going to talk it, walk it as well. Sure two guys got out before him, but how often to they trump how great they are?
  15. Agreed 100%.
  16. No love for Pettitte? I'd take Clemens, Pettitte, Oswalt, Contreras,Buehrle.
  17. I'm pulling hard for the Astros. I hate the White Sox. I just hate them. My earliest memories of hating a baseball team is the White Sox, even before the Yankees.
  18. He does have a bit of a mouth, but I have nothing against him when he runs his mouth. I'm used to atheletes doing that, I live in Minnesota, Randy Moss used to play here, I'm used to big mouths. What I don't like is Johnny Damon striking out with the bases juiced in game three of the ALDS. If he would have came through, we would've won that game, and who knows what we could have done after that. We could potentially be talking about a Red Sox-Houston World Series.
  19. Manny is my favorite player in all of baseball, probably my overall favorite athelete. Despite the fact that he's a bit off in the head, the guy can produce like almost no one else in baseball. But despite the fact he's my favorite, if we can move him and get some guys that will really help us, then we need to do it. I like what schillingisthenatural was saying, makes sense.
  20. You really shouldn't be worried about the O's or Toronto dethroning you. I'd be more worried about the Sox if I were you.
  21. Hopefully someone can beat the Spurs. I hate the Spurs....so boring and dry. I want the Heat and the T'Wolves to make it to the Finals.
  22. But with humans making the calls, you'll never get consistency. Some Umps think a certain pitch looks like a ball, while another Ump would look at the same pitch and call a strike. There's nothing inherently wrong with that, it's just part of the human nature of the game. If you want consistency, then have computers call balls and strikes. I personally don't want to see that.
  23. Well, it is true that some Umps make called based on emotion. And maybe the league should sit down and look at the Umps. What I meant is more that it's sad that more and more teams are going to look at an Ump and say, " we lost that game because that Ump's strikezone isn't what our club likes to hit." That's a sad day in baseball when that happens.
  24. Mostly just Amare, but the Suns are a team I'll usually root for. They're exciting to watch. But I'll be the first to admit, I'm a homer when it comes to basketball. I'm a T'Wolves fan, hopefully they can get their act together and win a couple more games this year.
  25. They are employees of the NBA. The NBA is in with corporate America. So essentially, NBA players work for a giant corporation. And most corporations have dress codes, so I'm fine with this. I think it's a bit silly, but the employer has the right to enforce a dress code.
