  1. Couldn't you point the other Western teams "not having done it" to San Antonio's success? I still feel SA/PHX/DAL would give us trouble in a 7 game series, no matetr their weaknesses that are showing now (while playing in the better conference)
  2. Hasn't the beef with Perkins been hs offense inadequacies? Not disagreeing but I swear I haven't heard such satisfacion with him before. As for PG depth, who woudl yu rather have? Aassell or Staudamire? And are eitehr enough to satisfy that depth. Any specific reasons the Ceklts don't stack up well with the Pistons?
  3. Solid win tnoight judging by the score, though I was more focused on other games tonight. Yankshater, as a true Celtics fan you seem to know this team inside out. While I do consider them my "east coast" team, I am loyal to the Suns. However, how would you say the season is going for this impressive team? what are the team's strengths/weaknesses, or what could be their downfall, besides the coaching of Doc Rivers. Do you think they will represent the east in the Finals? and even if they do advance, do you believe they stand a chance aganst the truely elite western teams.
  4. According to BA, on herald.com sports page
  5. As Jayhawk mentioned it is hard to isolate stats such as CMWs ability to get a shitload of groundballs, and another factor to consider is maybe Red Sox pitching had more Ks and less balls hit into play than the Yankees. However, it is proven that Cano had better range, that is all I can legitimately say he has without question. His DPS and DPT is kind of a non-enlightening stat as Cano/Pedro have no ability in determining how many chances they get or start, a % would be more telling in both categories. And understood, I too feel Dustin is very very strong defensively, and as you stated, saw nothing big he could improve on.
  6. As much as it pains me to say, Cano really improved last season defensively. And in doing this he doubled Pedroia's RAR and trounced him in RAA. Not to mention his range factor beats out Pedroia. In some ways, Pedroia has pulled out a Jeter, looking good, but not backing it up statistically, besides errors and F%.
  7. Very good point, I never looked at it from this perspective.
  8. inflation in the market, difference in talent have to do with that, but point taken.
  9. Of course, my point is just that your essentially trading your unprovenblue chip prospect for the ace you hope he develops somewhere close to. And if the Pinstripes do get Santana, as I mentioned, they immediately are improved, if not for just the first year of Johan's stay. And you cannot compare this to the Pavano situation, even if Santana does bust. The risk is a lot less, and Santana is far more proven and a much better pitcher than Pavano was. But, understood, there is some, while I think you might be overestimating it, risk involved.
  10. To a team in which money is no object?
  11. I just do not want the Yankees to get Santana, makes them a hell of a lot better. I don't understand why people want them to trade away Hughes for the pitcher every Yankee fans HOPE he will develop into.
  12. Yankees drop from 26 million to 23, it's a start.
  13. posted in the wrong section cam Agreed completely, Sheff, Cabrera, Ordonez, and good hitters around them like Polanco, Granderson and Guillen is one nasty lineup. Willis as stated will be raped a plenty in the AL.
  14. Surplus of pitchers would probably help in the backup/future catcher department more than trading for another CF, lest Covelli has another bad offensive year. Talk to Seattle for Clement perhaps?
  15. While I think he is a tad overrated what with the "In Theo We Trust" business, etc. I do think he is a very good GM. I would say Scherholz but he's stepped down to advisor with the Braves. I love Shapiro, that Colon trade was phenomonal, Beane is great at getting a lot out of a little, though as stated by crunchy who knows what those two could do with the same resources.
  16. You have to believe the Yankees seem hesitant as of now to include Hughes, though I'm not neccesarily sure that even that offer would top the Sox current supposed one of Lester, Lowrie, Crisp, and Bowden/Masterson. I just personally do not want Johan in pinstripes, Joba/Hughes or not. Santana is basically all you could hope for out of Joba or Phranchise, but he is much more proven and would improve the Yankees weakness and overall team immensely.
  17. Rodriguez, Alex. Perhaps the best player of our lifetime, which may be an understatement when it's all said and done. I want him at 3B.
  18. Thanks scaff, great stuff. if they do reach where you expect them to reach or anywhere around tehre, where are we talkin in terms of rank in our system, etc. or are these guys just going to make a big jump, that's not really significant as to makign the majors and contributing.
  19. can you give more context as to why you chose those 5 to rise?
  20. So long as Dice-K adjusts to this 1st pitch, fastball happy lineup, all will be well. Continuing the offensive production would help too.
