  1. "Q: Do you know which side? A: I think it was his right side. It was on his 40th pitch [of his side session Friday]. Because it was raining and things like that, he was almost done. I don’t think it actually was something where he just threw it and grabbed it. It was almost in between pitchers, where he took a deep breath and, ‘Man, I feel something.’ He went and got treatment. They’ve been working on him. Initially, when you hear something like that, you’re kind of like, ‘Damn.’ [A team doctor] came in and goes, ‘Hey, relax. We’ll be alright.’ So that was kind of reassuring." http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/reds...ona_on_bec.html And he's throwing a side on Thursday so, not as bad as Buckley made it sound, jesus, he almost gave me a stroke.
  2. Good thing Beckett starts on the road, he's been less than stellar at the Fens lately.
  3. Well put, one way or another i want this division to get wrapped up soon so we give rest to players like lowell, etc. who are in dire need before the playoff run.
  4. Very much yes Salty for Bowden. Let our system help out in more ways than just by coming up for spot starts. Even if Bowden goes on to become a very good pitcher, which he might be, I'll be on the other side of a Beckett-Ramirez deal this time seeing as we have NO ONE to catch that has the ceiling Salty has.
  5. I'm almost worried we'll over-focus on winning the division instead of resting our starters which served so well last year. I would almost rather concede than go into the final week having Lester etc. going deep into games.
  6. Nah, let 'em pour it on, show these *******s who runs s*** in the AL East.
  7. Proud manager of I Hate Canadiens
  8. Best to my knowledge there'd be a one game playoff because the season series is knotted up as well, not sure though, would ened to look up the Rockeis game from last year. Go get 'em Sox, call me a fool, but I feel like Dice is gunna come up big tonight.
  9. I really hope he ditches the "beat me on my first pitch" mentality, 5-6 looks at any same pitch is going to make it less effective, you have a sldier and splitter Paps, use them.
  10. Pinch hit Casey, let Kotteras see some action anyone?
  11. Looking forward to another great season, and could care less we're projected to miss the playoffs yet again by some. You have got to think we'll improve with the additions of Ryder, and essentially Bergeron back. Kessel looked very promising in the Montreal series and hopefully can keep it going into this season for his long awaited breakout year. I think the Ryder signing was maybe a bit of an overpayment but then you look at the market and see that the pool wasn't that deep thus players got more than they deserved. However, despite his seaosn last year he could see 30 again if he plays with Savard, and a coach who knows him in Julien. Yelle is kind of confusing, maybe a sign of an imminent deal (we're supposedly talking to Vancouver) or maybe just to stir competition in camp with Yelle and the youngsters. My player to watch this year is Kessel, while Looch is going to be the face of the franchise, Kessel is very close to putting it all together and becoming a very dangerous player. The speed, handles, and moves are all there, and he added some desperately needed grit in the Montreal series, if he can continue it, or Julien keeps pressin the right buttons, watch out. We can realistically finish anywhere from 4-8 in my mind with maybe the 5 spot being the most likely. We would have finished higher last year if not for a dreadful season series against the Habs (we actually played every other team better than Montreal did). That won't happen again. Krejci, Sobotka, Nokia, and Lucic will continue to develop, and then there's Schaefer as the dark horse to really show what he's made of, much like Kessel as both were much improved against Montreal.
  12. If Cora takes a significant amount of time from Lowrie...
  13. Anyone else feel the tide turning?
  14. Moose v. the Rays, then again not sure if that matters seein' as the they're scorchin hot right now.
  15. If Pedey keeps it going into october, stealing bases, staying hot, maybe throw in a few web gems, you have to believe he'll get the hype, even if undeserved. If the Sox threaten or even take the AL East from the Rays, then I don't see how Youk/Pedroia doesn't take it. Then again that's a double edged sword, if the ChiSox, fueled by their candidates, down the stretch take the AL Central back from the Twins, same goes for them. And that will be much more easily accomplished for them.
  16. Way I see it seems fine to give him at least a cup of coffee in the bigs, and if he fails we give him a "now you know where you are and where you need to be" speech. And Hansen suffered a mechanical breakdown, what everyone I think is worried about is a Clay Hensley breakdown, but even he bounced back. If he were a starter, I think the FO would be much more inclined to make him graduate the entire system, i.e. Bowden, not to mention maybe they're a bit more willing now that Masterson has had success, and they both have a similar fastball-breaking ball combo's, except Bard is more of a power pitcher. If he's not at least given a look, I think it's more about the FO being hesitant due to his track record, and not because of his skills.
  17. Don't think that can happen
  18. Maybe it's just me, but I'm a big believer in this kid and would have him above Ellsbury and far above Lowrie, and Masterson.
  19. They're saying he's already making adjustments, as now you can see on his 3 run HR tonight he now just slides his foot into place while the pitch is being delivered unlike what the step he used to do.
  20. I love this lineup, Youk has been raking as of late and deserves to be hitting clean-up. Bay gives him nice protection, and as stated I'm glad there's no Cora in sight.
  21. What gives you this idea? You rate him up there with Winslow, Witten and Gates? I don't even have him in my top 10 offensively.
  22. MLB allows trades to go on past the deadline if you just say the final touches are being worked out supposedly. Anyone else hearin' the Bay deal is back on?
  23. Gammo says Rays think Bay is going to Boston ???????
