    I don't recall him being extraordinary last year at all. I don't know why he is demending all this money when he really doesn't have recent cred to do it.

    I agree, this is a very good clubhouse all around, no distractions besides Manny, who usually takes his cue in the off-season, or near 7/31 which won't hurt much a all. Also, they all work very hard on the field and are laid-back off it.

    I'm saying we already have way more than enough potential offense in those players, who are improvements on both sides of the plate then last eyars opening day players. Therefor we don't need to trade a valuable trading chip on something we don't need and ONLY upside is hitting longballs.

    Yeah, I woulda said a ton, but his strikeout total is horrendous. But we don't need his 30-40 HRs, which we can easily make up with: Gonzalez hitting 15+ -Improvement over E-Rent Lowell hitting 20+ -Improvement over Mueller Youkilis hitting 15+ -Improvement over Millar Loretta hitting 10+ -Improvement over Bellhorn/Graffy

    I'm fine with whoever can catch Wakefiled the most effectively, offense is a non-issue in my opinion.

    We already have a potent lineup that has the potential to be even more powerful then in recent years, we shouldnt sacrifice defense for maybe a few homers here and there.

    Yeah, I think we definately have to draft a CB in the draft, but then again, he drafted Samuel and Wilson in the 3rd round and 4th i think (prob wrong) but hopefully the prospect can develop fast like Wilson/Samuel.

    This reeeaaaaly is getting annoying arguing over Soriano, there are so many negatives and not enough improvement to getting him to replace someone better in what we need.

    I don't think we ahve to worry about Ortiz becoming a Pinstripe Putz anytime soon. It's obvious we should sign him, he loves it here, and we love him, he is probably the biggest bargain in baseball at his contract right now, so even if the FO screws up we should still get him back. I've already been over what will happen if we don't sign him or come close to not signing him.

    You know what? I seriously think Johnny Damon doesn't realize he's gunna receive the biggest boo in the last few years, maybe longer. He's comparing his situation to pedro's even though he didn't tell us about the Yanks final offer and never allowed us to match it. he doesn't realized that he went to the friggin Yankees when he said he wouldn't do that to Red Sox Nation. He keeps on talking about it and talking about it and talking about it, I swear I really thinks we still respect him.

    Well, in all fairness, the nucleus and most of the supporting cast was intact into late 04 and 05. Yes, Cabrera was new but he fit in perfectly, Mientkiewicz wasn't a starter, and Robert's fit in well and also was a role-player. On the chemistry factor I believe it is a factor if you look at history. I mean the Yanks of the 1990's had been together for more than a couple of years and meshed in really well with their style of play. However this doesn't mean that this is a bad move, because as I stated earlier this off-season this is still somewhat of a transistion period from the 04 team to submitting rookies into everyday roles. Lester, Papelbon, Beckett, Hansen, Pedroia, and eventually Ellsbury will be a very stable and solid core if they all make it up and fulfill their potential. And they all share the same style of dirtdog, ice-water in the veins type play.
