  1. If Damon wants to go ahead and hit HRs then thats fine by me, thats not his job, which is leading off. Last year he had a .285 average, his OBP was horrible for a lead-off guy at .359 , and those stats ahve been coming down sicne 04. Hell even Drew would be a better lead-off guy then him. If Damon wants to compete with Drew at HRs and RBIs, I choose Drew.
  2. Ahh shove it, if your going to disagree, at least make a point like a700, don't give me this "Ignorance is bliss" s***. HRs last year have nothing to do with how he's going to be next year or maybe the year after. Yeah, he can hit 20 HRs every year if he wanted to, he did it with us, but I and every other Sox fan should know he physically wasn't so red hot in 05 or 06 and his style of play won't serve him well if he wishes to play beyond 36.
  3. Thats true, but that being said, I don't think any team would deal any A-type prospects for him.
  4. Good call, I mean Damons wearin out as well, and personally, if Coco regroups from last year, I call it money better spent.
  5. Firstly, it is looking like Manny is staying, sorry to dash those hopes of yours, and this does nothing but help the team, worst coems to worst, WMP gets some shots in RF and to develop.
  6. damn, and you guys complain about the contract we're giving Drew.
  7. I can dig it. I mean I know it's ludacris, but as stated, the market is setting these trends, and supply and demand has taken over. I like Drew, hopefully he can last this contract and stay healthy, because when healthy he is one of the more talented OFs in the game.
  8. Gee, can't wait til it's on a single website so I can feel legitimtely excited
  9. I don't know if I'd feel completely comfortable leaning on Gagne as the end all be all of our closer spot. I say do the thorough way, sign him, trade for Mike Gonzalez, and see how DC, Hansen, and Okajima do in ST and early on.
  10. Boston.com reports the Sox are looking at Gagne, are talking to Lugo's reps, and that the JD Drew deal is a few minor language issues and a physical away. Also we've inquired to teh Pirates about Somlom Torres and Gonzalez
  11. Honetly, just stop.
  12. I never said just using WMP. Please, save the obnoxious posts, if it were that simple then it wouldv'e been done by now.
  13. I agree, I eman besides Chad filling the closer's role, I don't see what else can come of this xcept some decent prospects, which is not what we want.
  14. The playoffs are going to be very competitive this year. With the emergence of the Chargers, and th Ravens. The Pats, and Colts staying strong, and a evry scary WC group coming into the last weeks, it is going to be very fun to watch. I personally am most afraid of the Chargers, theys eem to be the real deal on both sides of the ball.
  15. boston.com has chad comin here, manny to sf, and noah lowry to was. This deal doesn't make any sense to me. Not only do the parts not make sense, but we better be gettingw ay more. I don't understand why we can't just go for Cordero straight up, using WMP.
  16. The Herald is reporting that Bowden of the Nats is saying tehre will be a blockbuster deal in place within 72 hours. All is speculation however, as no otehr sources ahve reported the Sox are close to anything.
  17. on NESN theyw ere talking about a 3 way deal between the Sox, nats, and Giants, involving Manny and Chad Cordero. Sounds good, but Id rather just deal straight up with the Nats for Cordero and keep Manny. Then we just need to sign Lugo and our offseasons almost complete.
  18. according to boston.com, dodgers say its a long shot
  19. thank god, thats a good idea, IMO, that will give us a very nice lineup, at elast a betetr 5 hitter than we've had in a while.
  20. I was thinking that myself, that if we kept Manny, we have a pretty good lineup. I mean we're talkin two 40+ HR guys with a 30 HR guy right behind them. Then add in a solid VTek, Lowell form last season, and a decent SS, we have a solid lineup.
  21. yea, seems liek we're givin up a bit too much in this one, coco's had it rite, take out buccholz or have em add someone
  22. He seesm to be a lefty specialist, which we needed, but hopeully he can become a reliable guy out of the pen, his curbe should help get a lot of outs
  23. 30 year old LH reliver, sounds good to let him try out for the spot http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2678439
  24. they probably overbid to mae sure no one would steal him like the Sox with Dice-K
