Alright, were all finished! The Final 13 Games finished with the Yankees going 9-4 and there being a total of 139 Points, which means, RobiforMVP WINS! Heres a graph that shows how it added up. http://img18.imageshack.us/img18/2904/yankssox.jpg And even though hes a Yankees Fan, RobiforMVP can still enjoy the prize, a Johnny Pesky Autographed plaque, just PM me your address and I'll get it out to you within the next few weeks. Hope everyone enjoyed it! -
Yankees-Red Sox Scoring Points Contest

Alright, Just one game left! I will be at the Jets game tomorrow so I won't be able to post the winner(Simple Math will be sufficent to find out though) but once I get to a computer, I will announce the winner as well as what player it is their getting an auto of! Good Luck -
Last nights win was good. I would have perfered it to be on Tuesday because I was at that game and aside from a brawl there wasn't much I got from it. I'm actually happy Posada got suspended, I think it's a rest he could use and it will also give more time to see Cervelli and get Molina ready for any potential playoff action he might see. I'm really hoping we can do good on this upcoming road trip so that the Sox series won't nessisarily be important. Being 5 or 6 games up going into that and I'd be fine, 4 ok. But who knows becuase even if the Sox lose today, their still playing really good so even if the Division/WC are locked up, I have a feeling those will be hard-fought games just because playoffs will be 2 weeks away.

Yankees-Red Sox Scoring Points Contest
RedRuffing15 replied to RedRuffing15's topic in Contests/Prizes
So after 7 Games, it seems that low was the way to go. Thursdays game gave false hope as only 14 runs were scored the final three games. Sudboys looking the best right now as the average stays close around his 108 guess, but were only one 15-14 game away from throwing that right back up. As it stands, LoochnessMonster(who had the highest guess) would need to hope that every remaining game had a combined total of about 10 to win while Youkofnation(Closest after Spudboy who could win even if every game ended 2-1) needs a total of about 10 runs a game for the final 6, and everyone else inbetween. It's still very close, but with all these great pitching matchups we've been having, it seems like Sudboy could be taking this. -

If you want to track your progress, I'll be posting the Total Points so far as the games go as well as an average of what the final number will be. Good Luck! -
Yankees Stifle another young arm: Hughes to the pen

Well Wang has been pitching well when he was getting in. The only issue for me is he was pitching late in games we had respectable leads in, so the game in his hands may get away from him. It is interesting because their setting it up that Wang has one start vs the Leading Home Run Rangers before opening the series vs the Sox and then ending the series vs the Mets, not exactly easy road back. It could be a strength builder, if he can survive it, he's truly good to go, yet I see it as a showing of trust in our bats and bullpen if he shits the bed again. It's not a decision you can really get curious of upset about, Wang is a starter and has been one of our best the past few years so you can't erase all trust that you have for him just because your hitting a tough streak of games, and it's always better to have him get comfortable now as opposed to later in the season when the losses truly hurt us. For the Sox fans, do you think that they'll move Ortiz up in the lineup vs Wang given possible past success? -

Alright, here’s a little game I figured we could do to help make the rest of the Yankee-Red Sox games this season a little more interesting (Not to say they wouldn’t be anyways). This will be a total runs scored contest for the remaining 13 games. Simple enough, tell me a guess as to how many points you think the Yankees and Red Sox will score combined for the remainder of their matchups[regular season]. So, if in one game, you think the Sox will win 8-6, that’s 14; so like that for all of the 13 games (so if you think the sox will win every game 10-5, then your guess would be 195). Whoever has the closest guess as to the actual number will win. What will you win you ask? The winner will receive a framed autograph display of a Red Sox legend. It will be setup with a matted autograph and a picture or card. I don’t know who, I’ll decide which one to award later, but it will look like this one (I made that one when I was 15, so it will look better than this): http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/5185/doerr.jpg That is of Bobby Doerr, so it’s a player that even a Yankee fan can respect so this is also a must-do by all Yankee and baseball fans alike. Now this isn’t like the Price is Right, there’s no penalty for going over, so picking 1 isn’t a good idea unless your expecting a lot of Ties. The season series remains as such(Incase you want to base your scores on venue and time of season): Tuesday, June 9th @ Boston Wednesday, June 10th @ Boston Thursday, June 11th @ Boston Thursday, August 6th @ New York Friday, August 7th @ New York Saturday, August 8th @ New York Sunday, August 9th @ New York Friday, August 21st @ Boston Saturday, August 22nd @ Boston Sunday, August 23rd @ Boston Friday, September 25th @ New York Saturday, September 26th @ New York Sunday, September 27th @ New York So there’s the game breakup. I’ll need all the picks submitted, of course, before the first game, which is 23 days from today, so you all have some time to get this in! I’m going to say you need to have 150 posts to qualify just so no one who just joined can spam win-it. If there is a tie(two people are equal distance off from number but still closest) then well setup a postseason tie breaker, but we’ll worry about that if it happens. I think I explained it well enough, but if you have any questions, ask them before you submit your pick because I’ll be keeping my own notes of them and you can’t change it once you pick it!

Exactly, if you are gonna dish that crap, then you have go to take it when someone gets you. If more guys show up Joba, he'll cut out his crap, because he's not that good. He's been giving up big bombs every game. ORS has had the best view on this that I've seen. The last five pages have just consisted of people determining when what players can be emotional, its not your call. If a player doesn't like what another's doing, do just like Huff, sure they'll say it didn't matter to them, but it likely will. Next time Joba pitches, he may not be as into]/b] it, but its likely it can build up intensity being shown up. This goes to all players, including Papelbon when/if he blows a potential save moment, which was said in the last line of ORS's post. It seems like people are constantly trying to contort the good, semi-anti-yankee, league related posts into all anti-yankee posts. Either way, I think its safe to just say some fans see this as a pump up, much like when a manager gets tossed from a game, it puts energy into the team, while others see it as too much, Keep the emotions off the field, and thats a fine standpoint too.
-
Every player has a certain way they display their emotions, I laughed when I saw Huff do it [because it was clever] and I laughed harder when they made it a big deal on ESPN. When Joba gets a big 8th inning strikeout, hes not allowed to be excited, but when Papelbon gets the save, he can go 10 times over the top of what Joba does? That doesn't make sense. When your a reliever, its your job to get through an inning, the time Huff was angry about was a battle of jobs, Joba's job to get Huff out[and send it to Mo] vs Huff's job to tie the game, Joba won, he was happy. Just like last night when it was Papelbon's job to save the game, which he did so he celebrated. For those of you who have played on organized sports teams before, you know you have emotions running, and when you succeed in a sense, you should be happy. I play on my colleges' tennis team, and I know when I have a ace or a spike, I get emotional, especially when the odds are against me. I think baseball is the best sport in terms of players celebrating/displaying their emotions, footballs the worst in over-the-top and basketball is like courtside cinema. Baseball players have their Tiger Woods fist-pump and some people like Joba pump harder. I have no problems with players celebrating doing good and since everyones favorate team does it all the time, no one should really dictate when its appropriate or when its not and if they got a problem, mimic it like Huff on a beat and then move on.

Lets go Yanks. Im curious to see how long Joba can go becuase the Bullpen were pushing now is spent. I have a feeling that the Yankees are going to go oldschool and try and score small ball, try and make a fence like the Sox were doing yesterday. Lets all hope that'll work out:thumbsup: -
I was real happy with the game. Its Lame because my school doesn't get YES and ESPN Games are blacked out so I can only watch games on MLBGameCaste(Which sucks), so I'll be able to actually see whats happenin in like 2 weeks. From the numbers, and some of your guys'es comments, it looks like Hughes did good, and Im happy about that. If Wangs skills are going to be MIA much longer, were going to need Hughes to continue with 6-8K games. Hopefully his playing well will spark a flame under some other guys and they'll start playing well. I was happy with the big 7th, it made me feel a little less un-easy that they were going to suck hitting with RISP all year as well as that they can keep it coming when they need to demolish a team. Molina? Grand Slam? Ok, i'll take it for its comedic value along with the runs. Tonights game on ESPN[News], lets hope it's not blacked out and Go Yanks. Side Note: Since I know you all have a new-found love for Red Ruffing, I figured I'd excite you all with the fact that Mondays Yankees-Red Sox game is also Ruffings 104th Birthday!! Erie but sweet! If you'd like to learn more about the greatness of Red Ruffing, you can look at his UnOfficial Website linked above in his name. haha:thumbsup:

What Do YOU Take Away From the Weekend?

Then you definatly were not listening to Mike Francesa because he bluntly put it that Jacoby and the Red Sox were laughing at the Yankees and Pettite needed to step off and...blah...blah...blah and he himself said that they should put Ellsbury on his behind next time they see him and then all the New Yorwkers called in and agreed. -

haha, well I guess we'll be having our own Arthur Gidden on Monday so I guess he'll have to throw down. I, too, would have preferred Zimmer though, too bad. -

What Do YOU Take Away From the Weekend?
RedRuffing15 replied to BoSox21's topic in Boston Red Sox Talk
I am not talking about lack of class at all. I just said I hate people talking about class, play the game, mouths shut. I'd love to watch a game with teams full of Ty Cobbs out there. NY Radio Personalities are complaining that after stealing home, Jacoby showed no class jumpin all around takin curtain calls and the Sox bench was acting like High Schoolers straight up laughing at the Yankees so they should retailiate on Monday. I, again, hate so-called class so I don't judge when or when-not its shown. I do enjoy Jobas strikeout rituals(There much like Papelbons), so thankyou for reminding me of those dos11209. As for where have I been. I used to get way to into baseball, especially Yankees-Sox, so i knew if I came here after games or whatnot, I'd just get banned because I'd be so pissed off. Now I just get pissed during [all the] games, and am chill after, so i can come and not start fights with SoxfaninTex or whoever used to hate the RedRuffing haha Edit--Everyones getting up my ass, I didn't say anything about me, I said about NY Radio guys. I dont care, if the Yanks let someone steal home, they deserve to get laughed at. I just doubt thats the teams mentality -
What Do YOU Take Away From the Weekend?

Well I gave myself a few hours to cool down after how terrible the Yanks did late innings and I'll give you my views on the Sox from my perspective. Someone said it early, the sox showed they don't get down when their losing late, and thats trouble for the rest of the league, making every out count. I remember watching a Yanks/Royals game when the Yankees scored 9 runs all with 2 outs in the 9th to win and thats how the Sox were playing. Right after the Bay homer, I knew the game was over, we have what I would deem a good enough bullpen to hold leads, not do extra innings in Fenway. Same went for Saturday, the worst Yanks loss of em all. Burnett was looking great and it all fell apart, the Yankees lost Sundays game when the Sox scored 5 in the 8th on Saturday, it drained them, and it sucked to see that. I'd have to say hopefully the Yankees can scamper through this current week and when it's Yanks/Sox in NY have a little oomph that they want to show off and rock to a win(Hopefully Tex will be hitting then to) My only area of comment is that it could be bad as there seems to no longer be a fear of Ortiz. I remember watching games in the past and just changing the channel when he was up becuase even his popups looked homer-ish, but watching him this weekend I was feeling more like it was a #9 hitter up there, and it seemed like the pitchers were getting that same vibe. I know he had some RBIs Sunday, but whats going on there? I got no complaints, if Ortiz leaves every Yanks-Sox series with only like 2RBIs, I'll be psyked, but on the reverse, is anyone nervous, or are you treatin it like we did Cano the past few years? See you fellows in New York Next week(and according to NY Radio guys theres a good chance for a fight maybe because someone Needs to put Ellsbury on his ass for lack of class. And as much as I hate people complaining about class in sports, my love of a Yankees-Red Sox fight trumps that hate, so I hope it happens!)
