  1. Yeah I know what you mean about earning it, and if anyone has earned it it's guys like Barry and Manny. But hey, I just don't like it no matter who it is, and the more prestigious the player I think its up to them to set the example and take the bases with class. Just my humble opinion. And to whoever said "just don't let him hit home runs" ... hah thats a little bit easier said than done
  2. I don't know, maybe you are too busy admiring the homer also to see that Manny is by far one of the most obnoxious home run hitters. He stands there with this pompous look on his face, and some times even undoes his gloves. He should just run the bases like a man and take a lesson from Johnny Damon or Arod who hit homers before him. Look at it yeah whatever, but you don't need to stand at homeplate for ten seconds watching it land. Can you tell Manny's gloating after a home-run like he's never hit one before or something gets on my very last nerve? Grr :thumbdown
  3. Well it is extremely obnoxious. But hey, what is it? Just Manny being Manny right?
  4. Why not Posada? Don't tell me the pee on his hands influences your decision.
  5. I like this thread. I see a lot of bickering amoungst Red Sox/Yankee fans but this thread is full of positive thoughts about the rival team, and during a Yanks/Red Sox series no less! Alright sorry to interrupt lol continue..
  6. haha that was pretty funny, i needed that. No doubt I'd give a standing O to Ortiz. The guy really amazes me. There's no way I'd clap for Manny, Varitek, Schilling, or Timlin. Wakefield basically goes without saying. He's been there the longest and he's the guy on the Sox I have the most respect for. He seems like an awesome guy who is all Sox all the time. He's devoted and does whatever you need him to do, whether be a starting guy or helping from the BP. So basically I'd only cheer for Ortiz and Wakekfield. Other than that no one comes to mind.
  7. This is getting a little bit ridiculous. Well, at least the team's getting younger with all these Minor Leaguers. Winning against the Yankees must feel extra special right now. (can you sense the sarcasm?)
  8. I think I'm missing something, because what I saw must have been different from what you saw. The Yanks actually showed some life. Proctor was lights out. Mo made them look silly. Phillips got a clutch basehit when the Mets line-up couldn't. I'm pretty sure the Mets didn't just lie down in their positions from the 9th inning on, so please explain to me how this was a gift.
  9. Ahh my bad, he's had so many clutch years I forget which years he got awards for what. I believe it was 2000, not 2001.
  10. I guess winning four rings, being the All-Star Game MVP in 2001, the World Series MVP in 2000, the Rookie of the Year in 1996, an All-Star since 1998, and the captain of the New York Yankees just isn't good enough for good ol' ESoxPN. Oh, and coming from a guy who played parts of six seasons as a reserve outfielder from 1984 to 1989, was on the bench for two World Series wins - with the Twins in 1987, and the A's in 1989, and completed his 148-game career with a .219 batting average and 3 home runs, I doubt he'd know an intangible if it hit him between the eyes. Damn! It's lonely at the top.
  11. Helllooooo right back atcha
  12. No. You are wrong. Johnny speaks the truth and isn't a jerk about it. There's a major difference here. I had no idea how Johnny conducted himself in interviews and I had never heard of his "big mouth". On the other hand, I knew all about Curt's rude remarks and loathed him for it. It's just refreshing I guess to heard J speak compared to Arod who says stupid things like he doesn't even believe in a slump, but now you are arguing with me and now I'm basically stressing my point a little more than I wanted to in the first place and glorifying Johnny's interviews, which is not what I intended to do. SO, Back to my original thought, I like Johnny and his demeanor in interviews and how he doesn't try to say what's PC.
  13. Good stuff. It's about time the Yanks won a close one.
  14. Has Johnny ever said he would like nothing more than to shut up 50,000 New Yorkers? No. Damon also doesn't have public feuds with coaches (ie. Pinella). Oh, and people have this to say about him: Not to mention he was number 4 on GQ's 10 most hated athletes. link Oh, and can't forget when Schilling blamed the batter in ST for the ball hitting him. Class act right there my friends. So please, do not even get me started on how obnoxious and rude Schilling is. I was merely saying I like how Damon tells it how it is when he is interviewed, compared to people like Arod who only give the polite and PC answers.
  15. This was probably one of my favorite Damon quotes in an article on yankees.com The more I read what Johnny says, the more I love him. I love how he doesn't sugar coat anything and just says what's on his mind. I am really glad that he still wasn't kissing up to Sox fans after the way they treated him. IMO he should have gotten a standing ovation his first time up then booed viciously with money thrown at him after that. I just think it's a shame he got bascially zero appreciation from the fans at the game.
  16. Yeah if he becomes the Sox lights out closer, no doubt he will follow in Street's footsteps.
  17. Damon is the shizniz. Everyday I love him more and more. Tough loss, whatever. Good thing for last season or I might be nervous right now.
  18. Hi howdy hello.
  19. Just trying to make myself feel better.
  20. True that. They can have April. We'll have October.
  21. grrrrr that was annoying. you'd think they won the world series jeeze...
  22. I care about that fact, too. That's a nice little tid bit to know.
  23. Yeah I didn't really agree with the entire WBC, I guess I let George sway my opinion a bit? Anyway, now that I have seen it I LOVE it. I think it's a really great idea. Go USA! Woo hoo!!
