  1. All true, it sounds like Steinbrenner is starting to take a back seat to guys like Steve Swindal, Brian Cashman ETC. The Yankees instead of trading their prsopects held on to them. However the Boss is the Boss and he still supplies the cash to allow Cashman to make moves like Abreu.
  2. Considering Sheffield's history he is more likely to develop some wrist soreness but hey hes only hurting himself IMO. Sheffield is a great hitter but if the Yankees get Matsui and Cano along with the lineup they currently have I'll go to war with that and take the draft picks in the off-season.
  3. I've never said he will come back to help the Yankees. I did however say he would have to come back to help himself.
  4. Sheffield was a Steinbrenner signing not a Cashman signing. Is Cashman had his way Vlad would be playing RF for the Yankees right now.
  5. Well then he is foolish. Hes only hurting himself. Hes taking money from his own pocket by not showing if he is healthy or not. Whos going to give a 39 year old(or how ever old he is) OF a multi-year contract coming off of a wrist injury?
  6. Giambi has been DH'ing for most of the season and he has said he has no problem with it. In fact he said he has taken a liking to it.
  7. I still believe Sheffield will play. In fact I think he has to play considering he got hurt in his walk year. Lets say he doesnt play and he goes FA. Hes prob only going to get a deal with a s*** load of incentives in it or at best a 1 year deal for certainly not alot of money. If he comes back and hits he will get a respectable contract. s***, either way the Yankees are going to get draft picks for him.
  8. He did however nail the Abreu thing. Hes was on that since Matsui got hurt so clearly he has solid sorces. THAT SAID I think the Yankees floated this story so they can try to avoid any Sheffield problem.
  9. Buster Olney's blog: http://insider.espn.go.com/espn/blog/index?name=olney_buster#20060731
  10. I've thought for awhile that the Twins and White Sox will beat up on each other along with the Tigers beating up on both of those teams just enough for the Yanks and Sox to make the playoffs again. Plus while the Twins have the big two I'm not a fan of that line up. They have guys like Punto playing way above his head. That clearly wont last and Mauer is (as catcher's usually do) starting to wear down. He will still hit but not at the amazing pace he was. It also doesnt sound like the White Sox are going to do much. They need their bats to carry them.
  11. No doubt but they have a VERY tough road ahead. I believe they have around 22 games left with the Tigers and White Sox.
  12. Back in 2002 YES and Cablevision had that big fall out and Cablevision wouldnt carry YES. I was stuck with Sterling for a whole year. That might have been the worst year of baseball in my life. I'll give Sterling credit, he doesnt really get upset when the other team does something good. However if the umpires blow a call he wont stop talking about it.
  13. Theres alot of talk about Jason Schmidt. Sounds like the Giants have put him on the market.
  14. If your looking for a well called game Sterling isnt the guy you should listen too.
  15. Schilling hasnt been better then Mussina. If anything they have been even. Lets see Wells and Wakefield take the mound first before you put them in your roation please. Wells has a bad back/knee and could crumble at anytime. Wakefield has a broken rib idk how you can still count on him right now. Let them come back and take the mound a couple of times before you count on them.
  16. That Vlad HR might be one of the hardest hit balls I've ever seen. Jesus did he hit that one.
  17. Boy did you not read the part where I said fair trade? Jesus, thats not even the damn point. Have you guys ever taken advantage of small market teams?
  18. Did you not read my prior post? The Sox spend cash they just dont over spend as much as the Yankees. I've said that many times. But if you read some of the post here you would think the Red Sox never benifited from a salery dump which is what this was.
  19. ESP when you consider the Red Sox have only 2 POS players from the farm and when they won that title they only had Nixon and he played like 70 games or so that season. Please Sox fans as much as you hate it if you guys got offered this deal you would want your team to do it.
  20. I just think its the pot calling the kettle black. You guys do take advantage of the money you make. Its its not Curt Schilling, its Loretta for a back up catcher, or taking advantage of the fact the Marlins wanted to dump Lowell's contract and get something for Beckett who they werent going to resign (fair trade but in a perfect world the Marlins would have kept Beckett).
  21. I'm not trying to talk up anyone. Read the scouting reports. BTW I'm not even trying to defend the deal. The orignal point was the Red Sox also rip off smaller market teams. Dont act like you have never done it.
  22. or the .430 OBP. He sucks, I'm sure Guiel is better then him.
  23. You guys also didnt take Pedro Martinez from the Expos? Or sign Manny Ramierez away from the Guardians. Please you guys do it too the Yankees just overpay more often.
  24. Henry was a 1st round pick according to all of the scouting reports on baseball america has 5 tool type talent. Hes just very raw. Fossum was and still is a junk baller. Curt Schilling for some junk baller lefty? PLEASE! Henry is also projected to move to the OF btw.
  25. This coming from a guy who roots for a team that robbed the D-Backs blind for Schilling.
