  1. Let me just say, whoever approved that sign in left field needs to be fired.
  2. I'm sure Zito would love not to have to face the Yankees anymore.
  3. Isn't there supposed to be an amazing class of free agents this offseason?
  4. This is sort of ironic.
  5. I'd rather have our starters be strong this early in the season than a have a 'good' record.
  6. A team's record doesn't mean much 6 games into a 162 game season either. It's just something I found interesting, considering all the bashing of Yankee pitching and hyping of Sox pitching.
  7. Great game. The offense was there and did what it's capable of (now, let's see if it continues to show up...) Moose was amazing; his off-speed stuff was great. Proctor and Farnsworth both had 1 - 2 - 3 innings. And Mariano finally got some work in! Interesting Fact: With today's win, the Yankees have given up the least amount of runs of any AL East team.
  8. RBI Double by Cano! 8 - 0 Yankees
  9. I've never seen NESN so I couldn't compare the two... but I really like YES's coverage of the Yankees and the programming, for the most part.
  10. RBI Double by Jorge 6 - 0 Yankees
  11. RBI Double by Jeter 5 - 0 Yankees
  12. JORGE! 4 - 0 Yankees
  13. A-Rod continues to own Colon. 1 - 0 Yankees.
  14. Yankees: Damon Jeter Sheff A-Rod Giambi (DH) Matsui Posada Cano Cairo Angels: Figgins Cabrera Guerroro Anderson Salmon Erstad Kotchman Mathis Kennedy
  15. Yankee Match-Ups vs. Colon: Robinson Cano: 1 - 3, .333 AVG, 1 RBI Johnny Damon: 14 - 48, .375 AVG, 3 2B, 2 HR, 6 RBI, 5 BB, 6 K Giambi: 7 - 27, .259 AVG, 1 2B, 2 HR, 4 RBI, 3 BB, 10 K Jeter: 11 - 32, .344 AVG, 1 3B, 2 HR, 4 RBI, 2 BB, 9 K Matsui: 3 - 10, .300 AVG, 2 HR, 3 RBI, 3 BB, K Posada: 3 - 19, .158 AVG, 2B, 1 HR, 6 RBI, 6 BB, 8 K A-Rod: 19 - 43, .442 AVG, 5 2B, 3B, 6 HR, 16 RBI, 3 BB, 9 K Sheffield: 6 - 17, .353 AVG, 2 2B, 1 RBI, 2 BB, K Bernie: 6 - 22, .273 AVG, HR, 2 RBI, 3 BB, 6 K Given those numbers, and Colon's start against Seattle, the best opportunity for this team to snap out of its offensive lull might be just be against the defending AL Cy Young recipient.
  16. Pitching matchup NYY: RHP Mike Mussina (0-0, 3.86 ERA) Mussina went 1-2 with a 3.81 ERA in three regular-season starts versus the Angels in 2005. LAA: RHP Bartolo Colon (0-0, 5.40 ERA) Colon went 1-1 with an 8.44 ERA in two starts against the Yankees last season. Player to watch Rodriguez had the best game of his career against Colon last season, homering three times while driving in 10 runs. A-Rod has a .442 career average in 43 at-bats against Colon, homering seven times and driving in 16 runs.

  18. Well, Randy gave a 'stopper' performance but, apparently, it wasn't good enough for this offense; I guess Moose will have to do the job. Given the current trend of this team, he'll need to be a little bit better than perfect for a no decision. (When I get frustrated, I exaggerate. )
  19. I think the team is close to reaching their potential. Sheff is still working on his timing and a bunch of the other guys have been hitting the ball hard; as everyone becomes more adjusted, fewer of those hard hits will find their ways to defenders. On a positive note, I love what I saw from the Big Unit tonight. A CG in his second start, along with 8 Ks? That is wonderful.
  20. Yankees drop to 1 - 4. Well, that's how we started 1998...:dunno:
  21. Well, at least we could mess up K-Rod's ERA...
  22. Well if the Yankees lose, it's not going to be because of that one questionable call...
  23. Johnson pitching in the 8th..in his second start? That's what I like to see.
  24. Wow, horrible call by ump.
  25. Johnson, in 14 IP so far this season, has not issued a walk.
