To me he's the face of the franchise now that Ortiz and Pedroia are gone. I'd prefer to pay him 28+ for 6 years than getting Story this off season. His defense is suspect yes but he always brings it with the bat

Either way I would leave Whitclock where he is. Don't fix what's not broken. Turning him into starter could be Bard 2.0.
