Boston Red Sox outfielder Carl Crawford is going to see Dr. James Andrews to have the soreness in his left elbow checked out, a source told ESPN The Magazine senior baseball writer Buster Olney. Crawford is out indefinitely and not close to returning to action, the source said. Tuesday, Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine said Crawford would seek a second opinion on the elbow. Crawford, who also had offseason wrist surgery, has taken some at-bats but has not played the field in extended spring training games. No timetable has been set for when he can resume throwing. Crawford had returned to Florida on Tuesday night, where he has been rehabbing, Valentine said, after being examined in Boston earlier in the day.

I agree, I honestly would rather send Clay down if he doesn't figure it out rather than Jerk Bard and Doubront out of the rotation. I tend to think Clay will figure it out, his stuff has been decent so far this year... His command is another story. I will say I have liked his ability to at least limit the damage in his last two starts, going 6 and 7 IP. I expect Clay to be rolling by the time DiceK returns. It sort of begs the question though, do we really want DiceK in the rotation if everyone in there now is pitching well? Maybe we can package DiceK, Youk and Lars Anderson for a decent return. We would probably have to eat a ton of money though.

I have no where seen that they are going to cap Bard at 100 innings. I would think he could go 140-160.

DiceK will pitch in Portland on Saturday 1PM... I really want to go see it, tickets are like 6 dollars.

Aviles defense has been good enough, especially with the bat he has swung so far.

It's early. I believe the pitching will get worked out and we will be able to better compete with those teams. Hey we were in 2 games with the tigers, and would have beat the Yankees in that game under those conditions 99/100.

Anyone who didn't think this offense was going to be good, didn't watch the team last season... AND we are doing it without ELLS and Crawford, who should make us pretty unstoppable.

This is a good point. Next time we need to make sure Beckett knows that there is a 10% chance of rain. It might make the umps give him more calls.
