  1. But yes, I don't ever recall hearing Johnny Damon saying he'd never be a Yankee, but if he did, then everything Schill said in his posts is true. Sorry, Schill, I replied before I read your other post. Well, maybe he'll stab the team we all know as the greatest ever in the back someday too. Then Red Sox fans can really be happy again!! Until then, I'm glad he came over from the "Dark Side"
  2. Schill, I don't come on here very often, and when I do I usually only post in spurts. Anyway, I've read many of your posts, and they generally seem very reasonable. Not trying to kiss your butt, but they just do. This one truly baffles me, however. I know it hurts losing Damon, especially to The Greatest Team in History, but, c'mon, dude, you don't think he's really a dipshit, do you? I mean, for cryin' out loud, every Sox fan on earth was worshipping him like some sort of immortal god before today. Of course, if Jeter ever decided to sign with the Sox, I'd s*** three times and die. That aside, you're right. You can't really blame Boras. If he didn't do the job the athletes pay him to, he'd be out of a job. No worries about losing Damon though. Trust me, as a Yankee fan who isn't blind to the fact that the Yanks need some help, without the Yankees acquiring some quality starters, I don't think you guys have to worry about seeing them win series after series again like they did in the mid-to-late 90's.
  3. Yes, stars can and do win world series. Not always, to be sure, but I know one thing, the Sox had alot of stars on their team when they won it all in 2004.
  4. What does it matter when you guys ever lost a 3-0 lead? 86 years of futility, that's just plain sorry.
  5. Ha ha rooter even as a Yankees fan I'm down with getting back to the topic, even though you had the audacity to make crass comments about my beloved Yanks LOL
  6. Hey JB, you definitley DO have a point. I'm just saying, he'd be a fool if he is and if he gets caught, the Yanks need to get rid of him, pronto, since that would have made his whole apolgy thing a bunch of BS. Now, I can't say for sure because obviously I don't know any Red Sox personally, but something tells me they haven't always been a steroid-free clubhouse either. I'm not even saying anyone is on them right now on the Sox, but, c'mon, bro, steroids are so rampant throughout baseball I'm sure the Yankees, Bonds and Palmero aren't the only ones who may be doing them (allegedly, as Jim Rome would say haha!)
  7. Well, true enough, he DID play incredibly late in the season. However, with the current atmosphere surrounding the steroids scandal, he'd be a fool to be juicing again. I mean, the guy does have talent, for cryin out loud.
  8. Well, five years is nothing compared to the former streak you guys suffered, but yep, one year is better than five.
  9. Wow, Hammer, you sound so bitter! I thought some of the bitterness mught be gone after the WS victory last year. Red Sox and Yankee fans will always share a common hatred of each others team, sure. But the bitterness I don't understand. Yep, Jason Giambi was definitley on the juice, but if you look at him now and think he still is, that's ignorant.
  10. rooter, my man, that has to be the silliest thing I've ever heard lol! I think what you meant to say is some 5 year old kid in New York is slleping easy knowing the next Yankees World Series victory is coming very, very soon. 5 years in not along time compared to the time you guys suffered. And trust me, the Yanks will never have to wait THAT long. But, before you think I'm some half-crazed fan, I can't do anything but admit 1 year is better than 5.
  11. Yep, City, and if they do, any manager in his right mind wouuld give it to a position player over a DH with similar stats.
  12. You're right, he didn't carry the yanks by himself, but he was a big part of it. And if it came down to AROD and Papi, you have to give it to the position player over a DH anyday.
  13. Man, tek, what a mean guy you are!! I hope your advice is for Sox fan and not for me, or my fellow Yankee fans. You Red Sox fans sure are funny!!
  14. soxie, go to espn.com or foxsports.com or whatever. it's all there
  15. Sorry about that guys. Honestly I didn't see it.
  16. Hey slugger this is a little off the subject of Trot being on the DL. NESN huh? Now that is truly the biggest piece of trash in sports broadcasting. Born and raised in New England, I grew up, got smart and moved to Hawaii. Unfortunately, Hawaii seriously sucks when it comes to even college sports. Anyhow, man, you better hope George Steinbrenner doesn't decide to buy NESN. Now, to me, that would be awesome! Yankee games televised in Massachusettes, oh man. Well anyway we all know that'll never happen, but a Yanks fan can only hope lol!
  17. Even I can't believe the reports I'm hearing. I don't really think they're true. I think Manny is just being his odd self, and I'm not cutting on him here. But oh, the joy, the joy if he does leave the Red Sox. You guys will be in okay shape without him, but still that would be a devastating loss. I agree with what Johnny Damon said...95 wins with him, 85 without him. Oh please Manny leave the Red Sox!! And this isn't just running smack. As a Yankee fan, I'd have to be insane to hope he doesn't get traded.
  18. Well, me, I'm a Yankee fan. Hold on, hold on! I actually have something nice to say, sort of While my favorite way to watch the Sox is any situation where they are losing, I must say I've been to Fenway, and if I actually had to watch the Sox any way except when they get the smackdown from the Yanks, watching them there would have to be it.
  19. That's awesome that Johnny Damon's doing that. I'll keep Dylan in my prayers.
  20. Hammer, Hammer, Hammer. No doubt about it, Pedro is a great pitcher. But he sure seemed to have a special radar for Yankee heads. As for Clemens, I don't know, but I can only assume he learned his head-hunting ways while he was on the Red Sox. But yeah, he often overstepped his boundaries. And honestly, I still don't know what the f**k he was thinking when he threw that bat at Piazza.
  21. As a Yankee fan, Schill, I can't really disagree with anything you say. Although I think the point about the Sox being dominant this year is a bit untrue. They're not dominating anybody. The White Sox, those fools are dominating everone. The American league East is a mess right now, but the division is close. Which doesn't say much for the Yanks, Sox or Orioles. As far as the Sox being better, I speak now as a baseball fan and not as a member of the greatest rivalry in sports: The Sox, in my opinion, were not a better team last year. But they played with so much more heart than the Yankees apparently could muster in the ALCS, they showed why they deserved to be champions.
  22. Sustained greatness, Anni. I can't speak for every Yankee fan,but that's what I believe alot of us are talking about. No doubt the Sox have had some great teams over the years, but the bottom line is championships. No way am I, anyway, trying to convince anyone the Yanks are still the greatest team in baseball. Just the greatest team in the history of sports, period.
  23. Anni, you're right. All that matters is right now. The only World Championship that matters is the current one. However, as I expect from many Red Sox fans, you blow your whole point away with foolishness. The Yankees are a game behind the Sox, so if the Yanks suck then the Sox are sucking right along with them. The Yankees are no longer the team they once were, but trust me, this season the Red Sox aren't doing much better. Hope the Sox fans on this form plan to live a long, long time, because that's probably the only way you'll see another WS championship. The Sox are the champs, and they beat the greatest team in the history of sports to get that opportunity to win that championship, but 1 title doesn't mean very much in the grand scheme. The Yankees are no longer the best, and Sox fans better wake up and realize their chances of being the best again this year are fading fast. The American League East is a mess, although I admit it's a good race right now.
  24. Since nothing is guaranteed in life, maybe I shouldn't have been so bold in my statement. But, yes, because he's a Yankeee there's a 99.9 % chance he'll get a ring with them. It's not the Yankess God given right to be in the sries every year, it just works out that way most of the time, lately. Yeah, that was a chickens**t move, when he slapped the ball out of the glove. But that sure beats your former goon, Pedro, head-hunting every Yankee he saw. AROD's move was inexcusable, but so is intentionally doing something that can kill someone. And save your Red Sox logic that Pedro's gone, so that doesn't natter anymore. Just remember the Yanks will buy whoever they need to win, and if it doesn't work out short term, they will buy more. And that's not bad for baseball. It's smart business. The Dodgers and the Braves have high payrolls, but they obviously don't have the spirit of the mighty Yankees. By the way, the Red Sox have had a pretty large payroll over the years. Last year it finally paid off. It probably won't again.
