I dont think anyone is saying he's an elite reliever anymore but he did show in Texas he can still be a very effective reliever and there's no reason he can't contribute to this team in the home stretch. I'm sure he'll straighten out but he was a disaster last night
Gabbard is probably the better option right now but Lester definitely has the better upside but it's becoming obvious he isn't ready for the majors right now but I just don't see the solution for a 5th starter right now. Tavarez isn't it, Hansack isn't it and I don't think Buchholz is ready
at the time, I had heard it was Hanley for sure and the Marlins wanted Lester but the Sox balked so they asked if they could throw in Anibal instead and the Marlins said yes but you have to add another prospect so they added Delgado
the public line is that they didn't like his OBP but for years, there's been a rumor of a behind the scenes issue, not necessarily a clubhouse issue but something else that's never been brought to light
how? Hinske is more versatile, better defensively, better OBP, better slugging, slightly worse average, HRs and RBIs almost identical despite Hinske with about 30 less ABs
