    The best thing to do IMO is to take a page out of the NHL's book during an Olympic year when a large contingent of players go play for their countries. Take away the ASG that year (I don't care if THIS TIME IT COUNTS!!!!!!!1111shift+1!!!), cut the season to 154 games and have the tournament during a two-week span in the middle of July. All the players are already in the swing of things and don't have to ramp it up too early in ST to be ready in time for the March tourney. They'd probably get more players to participate too.
