-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Due to the fact that this week contains a Red Son / Yankees series, I thought I'd have have a "Special Contest". It will be open as soon as this is posted. Entries will close at 5:00 PM EST 6/5 ( I apologize for the late post, I've been busy with other things ). This should be fairly simple for you regulars. For each game ( they are individual yet combined ) pick Red Sox win (1 pt ) or lose (0 pt), both teams number HR's hit, and both teams number of Runs Scored. These three numbers will provide a total.The total is only for my convience. If you're correct on all three ( four including total ) for 6/5 you will win $ 50, if not, the prize gets carried forward to the next day 6/6. The same rules would apply to 6/6. It'll be worth either $ 50 ( the game day prize ) or $ 100 ( game day + carry over ). This will continue for the 6/7 game. So the 6/6 game could be worth $50, $100, or $ 150. The same will be truse for 6/8, except it could be worth up to $ 200. If there are no winners ( closest doesn't count ), the prize total will be applied to another contest(s). I agree rbreg, but let me add a little from a different slant. A-Rod has always been an exceptional athelete and put up the numbers. His problem is results. No WS rings. He was at Seattle surrounded by Allstars and I believe they made the play-offs once. Texas, pretty much the same thing. Yankees, they carried him to the play-offs. My point is how many game winning, tying, and go ahead hits does he have. It comes down to being clutch. He reminds me of Ted Williams ( great man, geat hitter ) who never won anything except tittles. So until A-Rod contributes to a tittle, I really can't consider him "The Man".

As usual, you're pretty much on target. However, a have a couple of small points to question. Papelbon has been in the closer role for approximately two months now, I'd have the question his stamina. Meaning he'll have to be stretched out. Granted, we could put Foulke in the closer role. But, this move will weaken our bullpen and under utilize Paps while he transitioning. As far as Hansen goes, I'm not thrilled with his current stats. concerning K's vs walks vs. IP. Maybe he needs a more defined role, more work in the minors to work on his control ( delivery, another pitch ). Agreed, we need help in the starting rotation as our #4 & #5 are questionable.

As did I, from the PM received. A "Talksox Hall of Fame", might not be a bad idea, but would and should be made of mods, admin. and senior contributing members. Personally, I think this thread should be renamed to something like " Baseball's Other Hall of Fame".

It doesn't matter in this contest. There are bound to be ties and mutiplr correct choices. The roll of the diice will determine all.
