We now have the first week under our belts. It was competitive, with one of the winners decided on Monday Night Football. You must follow the rules to avoid conflicts. The rules : Enties close 9/15/07 @ 6:00 PM EST You must have 300 posts or more to enter. There must be at least 15 entrants in each category. Use the templates provided ( any edits/corrections use your original post and post the changes so that I can make a correction on the Master list ). Template are provided in the start of the thread. I'll also make and maintain a Master list of the picks in the second post on page 1. Please examine the Master List before and after you post your selections. This is to avoid duplicate Tie Breaker picks ( which pretty much negates the purpose ). Duplicates picks in any other category are fine. Indicate when you pick if you're just for recognition ( I assume everyone else is playing for prizes ). Select your picks in BOLD. You can pick up to three picks ( one in each category ). There are three Prize Categories : 1) Spread Category : You're picking the favorite or the underdog. Choose the favorite then you're giving the points to the underdog. Conversely, choose the underdog and you get the points. 2) Straight Category : Very simple, just pick the winner. 3) Total Monday Night Points Scored ( I'll Indicate which game ) : Normally this would be for Monday Night Football but this week there are 2 games, so we're going with Thursday. It's very easy, pick the total number of points that you think will be scored by both teams. This total is not only a separate prize Category, but also serves as a tie breaker in the other Categories. Hence, there will be no ties allowed. Again check the Master list before and after you post. The Prizes are : $ 25 for each for the Spread and Straight Categories, $ 25 if you hit the Total Monday Night Points exactly, otherwise it serves as the tie breaker. The purpose of this contest is to have some fun, bragging rights, and a little pocket money. So have fun and if you have questions, post them or PM me. Prettry much, Bart Starr, Y.A. Tittle, Bob Greise, etc. It's one of the reasons I wasn't all that thrilled about Marino. Before him there was Fran Tarkington, both were exciting to watch but never found a way to win. All I'm saying is that as good as Manning is he still hasn't actually proved with recorded performance that he is again "one" of the best. The reason that I keep saying one of the best is that you're talking about comparing QB's from different era's. The rules of the game were different, stats were differnt, and what really defines the greatest QB, just individual records ( in a team sport ), winning record, SB wins, or a combination of all the aforementioned. There is no quantatative standard, this argument has been made in many other sports about who is the best. The result has always been undetermined because the criteria are subject. He will probably end up as a Hall of Famer. Do I enjoy watching him, yes except against the Pats. Speaking of the Pats, I don't think Tom Brady is one of the best yet. He's very good, but I'll wait a few years before I'd put him in the great to one of the best categories.

Nice try, I didn't say a anything about SB wins being a yardstick for greatness. Once again, you can't state he is the best, because as of right now he's not. As you clearly state, "he is gonna be the best". This is the furure tense, meaning that currently he's not. You must have one hell of a crystal ball to able to state with such certainty what the future holds.

Whoopie Doo, one season record. Try comparing that to Dan Marino's. "Great shot at most yard/most TD's", again he hasn't done it yet has he ? So he won one Super Bowl. Ok, so you're saying that it's a team sport ( if he can't be blamed for the losses ), then if you apply the same logic he shouldn't get credit for the wins.

One Super Bowl in how many play-off appearances ? What records has he broken or set ? When he actually hasa the accomplishments, the I'd consider him as "one" of the best QB's.
