  1. Heads up fellow League 2 members. Tomorrow starts the new season, so I thought I'd let you know what you're playing for. Contrary to popular opinion, we will be playing for prizes. They are : Prizes : -- 1st Place : ......... $ 100 and a Custom User Title ( Yeszir graciously provided the Custom User Title ). So let the games begin and enjoy the season. Good luck to everyone.
  2. Thanks, I try and make it a fun site.
  3. It's a moot question. Because they wouldn't have the same players, nor would you. Your asking a hypothetical question.
  4. Ok, good news for HeadofSoxNation, you're money arrived and you're all set. Also, I believe that Schillingouttheks deserves a break for being a nice guy and setting up and running the league. Therefore, I paid his dues, so Zach you're good to go ( mail didn't come in, if it does I'll add it to the pool or refund it ). I've also added some additional funds to the pool. That all said, here's the break-out : Prizes : - 1st Place :... $ 200 cash ( pd. members only ) and a Custom User Title ( all are eligible ) courtesy of Yeszir. - 2nd Place :... $ 40 ( pd. members only ) - 3rd Place :... $ 20 ( pd. members only ) For clarification, cash prizes will be awarded to the three top finishers of the ten paid members. 5. Nothing in today's mail.
  6. As of todays mail ( 3/29/07 ), here's the current status of dues : SFOC Hyrax He Hate Me One Red Seat Manny Goes Boom Crespo Blows Riverside Sluggers Stockers In the Mail : Schillingoutthek's Head of Sox Nation Missing in action : ARod 2212 See Red
  7. I got news for you, you bring no message to this board. Let's see 25 useless posts in 5 months, I'm really impressed. You have the audacity to attempt to attack a respected member of the board, as well as his service record. You must be a moron. Go ahead, keep up the insults and personal attack. I can pretty much assure you will be dumped on, ignored, or banned.
  8. Is anyone still alive here ?
  9. Well, I won the raffle and got 4 tickets. Unfortunately, my doctor says I can't go. So my son his girl fried and his pal & girlfriend get to go. Ugh !
  10. My 2 cents, is to look at the overall situation. The Sox currently have a strong 1,2, and 3 starting pitchers. With Paps going to the closer role, he fulfills a major hole in the bullpen. His contribution as a starter over a full season hasn't been determined, but to start the season he'd have to be rated as a 3 or 4. This means that Wak. moves up to the 4th slot. This means we need a #4 or #5 starter to fill the hole. Although the thought of Tavarez doesn't excite me, I believe it's a stop gap measure. The impact is reduced by the fact that in the early part of the season there typically more scheduled days off and rain outs. So what we're talking about is finding a permanent 4/5 starter. My first question is, " How is Lester coming along ? ". I haven't heard anything about his progress. Still, we could trade or promote from within the organization. So, yes ORS it would have been nice to see what the ceiling is for Papelbon. But under the current circumstances, I believe, his known value as a closer outweighs is potential as a starter.
  11. RZ, learn how to use the quote function. It would make reading your posts easier, or at least differentiate by using colors.
  12. Just a heads up for those that are inerested :

  14. It depends on the future value of endorsements, etc. Meaning, I assume he'll go into the Hall of Fame, so it's a question of who's hat he wears. The Red Sox, where he spent most of his career, or the Yanks ( a brief stop and a WS ). I can pretty much guarentee it won't be Houston or Torronto. From a marketing perspection, where would he get the most bang for the buck and go out in style. The Sox with a really good pitching staff or the Yanks. He has a chance to amend his failings at Boston and go out as a winner. In NY he's just another hired gun.
  15. Clemens will follow two things : MONEY HIS EGO Exhibit : .... Went to Torronto to " Be closer to my family ", read the highest bidder. .... Went to the Yanks, he forced a trade to get a WS ring. Ego. .... Retired, tock the money, SUV, and applause. Oops, I'll play part-time, read money .... I might retire again, make me the best offer ( money & terms ), read money & ego.
  16. Send the money.
  17. TO All Members of This League : Here is the current situation as I see it. A proposal was sent to most of us via PM, inviting you to join an elite league with cash prizes ( assuming you paid $ 20 dues ), This was done in late January. To the best of my knowlegde, everyone agreed. When Jacksoniansmarch dropped out ( not his fault due to scheduling ), I asked my son to fill in. He's "Big Papi's CC" ( aka Hyrax ). To answer your doubts and questions, he's here to " kick my ass ". Obviously, he won't trade with me ( not that you guys would allow it ). Today is the 20th of March. We are talking about 2 months time frame to come up with $ 20. I've heard just about every excuse. Some may be legitimate, some not. I really don't care. I take people at face value, meaning, I believe what they say, unless I have a reason to believe otherwise. I took over the collection of dues, because Zach ( Schillingoutthek's ) could not. This was not my first choice. Considering that this is my most demanding time of the year. It's TAX TIME. The impact that I have ( tax liability, mortgage qualification, college financial aid, etc.) means more than the money. These are, for the most part, clients that have been with me for 20 yrs and I'm dealing with a second generation, meaning I have a responsibility to them and their parents. Some might remember, my other medical problems. Unfortunately, there have been some new developments requiring a multitude of of tests and surgery. Meaning time, is at a premium. So here's were we are at. It seems out of 12 members of our "elite" group, 6 have actually paid their dues ( 7 counting Schillingoutthek's, I'll cover him as he's the Commish. & "he's good for it" ). Here's the point, unless the rest of you that haven't paid can find the time and funds to send, and I receive the $ 20 on or before 3/28/06, I will either refund money to those that paid. Or limit the prize(s) to those that paid. This is months to pay for something that you volunteered for. I will not wait until Opening Day. with the hope that the dues will be paid later. Once again, either the funds are received ( everyone paid ), the prize(s) are reduced, or funds will be refunded. It's your choice. [/size][/b]
  18. Agreed ORS. He's a great player but unlike football, he can't carry your team. The drop-off between him and the next 4-5 1st basemen is negligible considering all batting categories and overall impact. He's 1 out of 10 offensively and potentially 1 from pitcching. Stocker wants too much. I can't blame him for asking though.
  19. Welcome to Talksox Jon. I hope to see some frequent and solid posts.
