  1. Ahhh no. A deal will require at least Bucholz AND Bowden with a relieving prospect like Masterson or Bard AND including an inf. prospect AND probably another young proven arm like DelCarmen. They want the farm. They want at least 4 players, maybe 5.
  2. Jason Bay being Jason Bay, I dislike him more and more with these contract squabbles and recent performance.
  3. Right, didnt take in to consideration Pennys contract, my bad.
  4. Agreed, say what you want about Jacko (ive always liked him, even with his bias, but thats what makes this fun), but hes paid his dues and taken his lumps, and is far from the laughingstock. I dont think its in your best interest to attack members who have been around the block man. Yankee lover or not, they have been around here for a while......so I am less likely to scan through their postings, like I do with the everyday guy who comes in, runs their mouth and disappears, or gets banned.
  5. The thing I like about Theo, is that he has balls. How many other teams just cut dead weight in the middle of the year like that, (I know most cant afford to) but the Yankees dont really ever cut their dead weight, they just frustrate their fans and keep shoving their (the FO) mistake in the fans faces every time they roll their dead weight out in the lineup/rotation. Moves like this, the Nomar deal and other little odds and ends are the reason I like Theo......he doesnt give a f*** what people think, he does what he had to do to put together the best possible team. Does he always make the right decision? No, but at least he has admitted his mistakes.
  6. Bay is not worth the money he wants. Holliday cannot possibly be as bad as the season he is having in Oakland. Holliday will cost maybe half of what Bay will. Holliday runs better, fields better, and will most certainly hit better in our lineup, remember Oakland is the WORST offensive team in the majors, there is no reason to pitch to him. Some will argue that Holliday put up those numbers in the inflated coors field, but coors field's offensive numbers have been much closer to normal with the humidifier they use, and Boston is as close to the American League version of Coors field (favorable to offense). If we sign Holliday, and he returns to his old form, then he is the best offensive signing FA possible.
  7. Maybe shes getting at the Sox ownership relocating? Other than that WTF!!!???!!! http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/b/be/BUNickersonFldStands.jpg/800px-BUNickersonFldStands.jpg ^ this is what remains of Braves field.
  8. Placed on the 60 day DL today, wont effect him since it was retroactive and has already spent that time on the DL.
  9. Shea Hillenbrand: Not a theo guy.
  10. It wont happen. Tonight was a really nice moment, but lets not forget his decision to reject the 4/60 offer. Also, Ill never forget the memories of Jeter diving into the stands to make a catch while Nomar was on the bench crying/benched/injured. He was my favorite player (Manny was once too, jeez these guys are killing me), but it was time to move on, and in the long run Theo made a correctly calculated decision. If the Redsox were not aggressive enough to bring back Clemens a year ago, and let him finish his career here wearing #21 to have it retired (keep in mind before the steroid accusations), then they would be no different with Nomar. I think he burned his bridges with the current GM.
  11. Irish Pride. I tend to post more when the crowd is good here. It goes in waves here as you will see (although there are many excellent posters here most of which who have been here for 4-5 years, YOTN, 700, fan on the cape, kilo, bsn, ORS, MannyHOF, schill, Bosox, Coco, and even the yankee guys). I lurk on here every single day for periods of time, I just choose not to pad my stats in the game threads, I enjoy watching games more than typing about them hahaha. It just depends on what is posted when I decide to post, seems like a good crew of new guys right now, just been a little busy with some personal stuff.
  12. Im gunna have to agree with 700 here. Dr/Dipre....why do we have minor league players? To fill out rosters, and develop talent, not rush them in to Fenway Park and pencil them in out of need. Bates may turn out to be a useful part, who knows....but he had no business in there. The Sox have a need right now, and the need is at 3B, there is no need to weaken the D at 2 positions (I know youk does well at 3B, but I want him at 1B). Not sure what is out there available, but they need to do something as it looks like this Lowell thing wont go away, and I dont want Green/Lugo/Lowrie rotating between 3B/SS. Options available FA: Morgan Ensberg Marshall McDougall http://www.thebaseballcube.com/players/M/Marshall-McDougall.shtml Mark Grudzielanek Richie Sexson (1B) Chris Gomez Yuck
  13. 6/30 Average FB was 86.44//Max of 88 MPH 6/29 Average FB was 87.50//Max of 87.9 6/26 Average FB was 86.94//Max of 88 MPH 6/23 Average FB was 86.45//Max of 87.6 MPH His velocity isnt the problem.
  14. Agree, and they have started playing better after a tough start, Toronto has played a little better too after their hiccup.
  15. I dont really see a logjam at this point. DiceK is pitching himself outta the rotation, and the active roster. 1-5 with a 8+ ERA seems to solve this problem, what they do with him at this point, I dont really care.....but he only has a few more lifelines left as a starting pitcher in Boston....for this season anyway.
  16. Basically what I am reading is, all I want is the money. If the Yankees pay me more, then I am going to play for them totally dismissing any sentimental value towards the only club he has played for, and dismissing any emotion fans here have towards him. Do I blame him for wanting the money? No, it makes it easier to say goodbye.
  17. Yeah, as an afterthought.
  18. In an appearance on Sirius XM Radio, Jonathan Papelbon told Jody McDonald and Bert Blyleven that he would consider playing for the Yankees once his Boston career is over: "Oh, of course. I mean, I think if we can't come to an agreement on terms here in a Red Sox uniform, I mean I think that's pretty much the writing on the wall." Papelbon says he'd consider joining other teams, too: "Not only the Bronx, but anywhere. I think anywhere is a possibility. You always have to keep that in the back of your mind because you can't just be one-sided and think that, "Oh, I'm going to be in a Red Sox uniform my entire career" because nowadays that is very, very rare and hopefully we can because there's no question I would love to stay in a Boston Red Sox uniform but I have to do what's best for me and play in an atmosphere where I'm wanted." Cya later Paps, dont let the door hit you on the ass on the way out.
