  1. Not just Ortiz, but the whole team. Good thing there's a scrub on the mound today so they can plate some early runs.
  2. Wouldn't it benefit the game if they had another official assigned to each goal, for the sole purpose of being in the right position to determine if the ball went in? There's no sense in relying on the judgment of someone who is regularly out of position because he needs to move along with the play.
  3. I just realized that I'm a little behind because I paused the game to put the 1 y/o down for a nap. Clearly, the replay showed it was in. My previous post was my initial reaction before the replay.
  4. Yeah, that was in.
  5. England gets sloppy on a ball down the middle. Very similar to Gyan's goal to win it for Ghana yesterday.
  6. More than likely not. I'm sure there are bunches of other people who like to say semi-controversial things to get attention.
  7. This is a very good summary of your point. Clear, lucid, and concise. Unfortunately, you've just fallen into one of the two classic blunders. The first is, don't ever get into a land war in Asia, but only slightly less well known is this, never expect a Yankee fan on this forum to get your point and respond sensibly. (see Jacko's response for a prime example) That being said, this thread serves little purpose. Every non-Yankee fan here will agree with you that the "Yankee Class" ******** you year from their fans is nothing more than pathetic ego stroking. Every Yankee fan won't.
  8. Delicious irony. Edwin Jackson vs the Rays.
  9. Yeah, what's this hand gesture referring to? http://img1.tvloop.com/img/showpics/2c/0b/l341e343b0000_1_20416.jpg
  10. I don't know how big a group this "best" is, but it'll need to be pretty big to include Vazquez (over the last decade). Preh-tty, preh-tty, big.
  11. What happens in 2012?
  12. Lackey is awful.
  13. I'd think he would end up with those numbers if I just made s*** up and ignored things like his current pace and the quality of his opposition. We are 9 games from the mid point of the season. He's got 62 K's. 62. He's pitched ~70 IP. 70. You may be right about the ERA, that's the type of pitcher he was in the AL before. That said, he's been cruising against some fairly weak teams. Time will tell when he starts playing the varsity squads again.
  14. And now Serbia is a goal away from staying afloat. They score again and Germany holds the score at 1-0, then they would be ahead of Ghana by total goals scored.
  15. And, if we go back to his "should have" suppositions re: the soft goal and bad officiating, the US still would have won the group, with 6 points, +2 GD, 4 GS to England's 6 points, +2 GD, 2 GS. Whoever plays Germany in the second round will be the team that "should" be playing Germany. Fruit basket denied. EDIT: Nevermind, England would have 7 points. Still no fruit basket though. And, I'm also not sure playing Ghana or Serbia is much of a gift. Those teams look pretty good.
  16. And, I'm not disagreeing with you. I'm pointing out the irony of having one soft goal in their match help them and having another soft goal in another match eliminate them.
  17. For all the talk from ital about how the US is only where it is due to a soft goal, it could be the soft goal in the Algeria/Slovenia matchup that eliminates them if they don't beat Algeria.
  18. Fortunately, this is a forum he could strike gold with. The admin does pay to have players post here afterall.
  19. Pena has always been a TTO hitter, and this is just that tendancy in full-scale effect, IMO. I particularly think so when I've had a chance to see him play this year. His swing is such a massive uppercut, it's no wonder that he's striking out so much and getting such awful results on his contact that doesn't leave the park. His approach leaves little room for other results. Upton was actually worse last year, for a full year. Maybe he just is what he has been over the last 1.5 years? Yeah, Zobrist and Bartlett are much worse than last year, but prior to last year, they also hadn't set any precedent to make any continuation of last year's performance a reasonable expectation. They blew up last year. Zobrist's power and Bartlett's overall good year were shockers. Again, maybe what you are seeing is what you get. It certainly was in the past for both of them.
  20. Yeah, overall, but if you slip from a 2.60 to a 3.28, the month it took to make that slide was bad.
  21. At this point, nobody cares about your concern, because it's pretty easy to see it for what it is, bluster. Whether you are concerned or not, the Sox will do what they do, which all anyone really cares about. Hell, in some respects, I'd prefer you didn't have concern because it will make all that much more painful if you are wrong. As for calling for a ban, and we've been down this road before, you aren't speaking from a credible position. Not with this being your 3rd name you've posted under, and the fact that you really only come here to rub our noses in the "greatness" of everything Yankee. Give it a rest.
  22. Waste not, wane not.
  23. Fun fact: Victor Martinez just went yard.
  24. Another game in the standings for the hottest team in baseball. It's a great time to be a Red Sox fan.
  25. No, that was the "Manny Says" moment against the Angels in the ALDS before they beat the Tribe.
