  1. Care to list the opponents there, or does that only matter when you are explaining success for the Sox and their players? EDIT: Nevermind about the number of starts, I'm looking at the BB-Ref page, which doesn't include today's start.
  2. How many times are you going to pull this from your ass and get called on it? FIP was created for what a pitcher's era "should" have been. Use it. It's free at thehardballtimes and fangraphs for MLB players, and you can find it for MiLB players at minorleaguesplits.com. Or, you could calculate it yourself, but for f***s sake, do something more than lazy guessing if you are going to try and talk intelligently about what something "should" have been. His FIP has been 2.98 in AA, and 2.38 in AAA.
  3. He seemed pretty competent in LF too. There was an early ball he kind of misplayed, but the played two later caroms just right.
  4. Day ain't over yet, and winning doesn't seem to matter.
  5. Yeah, it's not a good idea to use the MiLB inning totals for young pitchers to find an IP/S average. Their pitch counts are pretty firm game limits, and a low relative to MLB pitchers. That said, if he's only pitching 70-85 pitches per start right now, he's not stretched out enough to be ready for the big club, so let him keep developing.
  6. Whatever it takes to make you feel good, man. They've roughed up Sabathia, Burnett, Greinke, Meche, Garza, Halladay, Shields, Scherzer, Kazmir, Santana, Morrow, and Hughes this season, all guys who fit your description. They've had some poor offensive games against Davies, Bannister, Marcum, etc. Some of those said pitchers have had good games against them too, but your point sort of falls flat on its face. They hit, and fail, against anybody.
  7. What's that, two outs on one swing, and down to 36.00? Impressive.
  8. Bonser records his first out of the season, lowering his ERA to 108. Improvement.
  9. Hey, self awareness. That's becoming.
  10. Yeah, the way Beltre's hitting he could field like, well, let's say, Mike Lowell and still be a positive for the team. Imagine that.
  11. RBI's only count to rhet when talking about JD Drew. In fact, his archaic stat of the day is really only an issue when it's a non-dirt dog new guy who is failing in said archaic stat of the day, then that stat of the day is very important, and good reason for proclaiming yourself more competent that the GM that has put together two championship rosters.
  12. Then Oliver Stone made a bad movie about it.
  13. Mitch Talbot called Yaz a pussy once.........Once! http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_LdKt7kx_Ur8/Sq6gaBO2peI/AAAAAAAAAAU/Bky2m3qxT54/s320/DannyVermin1.jpg
  14. The biggest problem with the BCS outside of the fact that it doesn't handle 3 or more undefeated teams well, IMO, has been that it gives precedence to crummy conference winners over non-BCS conference teams that deserve a shot. This doesn't fix that. Programs like Boise St, Utah, BYU, etc are still out in the dark with this big realignment. Sure, this might be a step in the right direction, but it doesn't come close to fixing anything.
  15. My dad....never liked you. http://www.listphile.com/Six_Degrees_Kevin_Bacon/Chevy_Chase/image/chevy-chase-celebrity-photo.jpg
  16. Ortiz too. Someone needs to give him a 2010 calendar where every month is May.
  17. Pedroia is a big fat pile of suck right now. At least he can field.
  18. Yeah, he's a pussy for caring about someone else.
  19. Dustin can't buy a hit right now.
  20. Take two players with a .800 OPS. Do you take the .400/.400 guy or the .300/.500 guy. I go with the first, because a .400 OBP is excellent on a scale of 1.000, and .300 is pretty bad. The difference between .400 and .500 on the SLG scale is not monumental.
