  1. Earlier this year, one of the Yankee fans here speculated on why so many people hate the Yankees. The expected conclusion was "jealousy". I surmised that it had something to do with the fanbase. Apparently, I'm not alone. This article agrees with me, with different types of Yankee fans taking the top-3 spots of a list of 10 reasons. A sample:
  2. JT's pitched well enough to make me actually want him on the roster next year. Foulke too.
  3. Rivera. Quiet dignity is rarely found in a person who is probably the best ever at what he does.
  4. Only a collosal nitwit thinks that has relevance to the discussion of his injury. And, besides, the answer to that is obvious, so it doesn't need to be mentioned...........unless of course your goal is to talk smack.
  5. Please justify how a thread about his surgery is the place for that discussion. You were, no doubt, doing what you always do you turd-slinging window-licker. I'm calling you out for it. That's not a hissy fit, that's calling a spade a spade.
  6. He'd be a great fit in L.A. It's the perfect place for good-looking, multi-racial, well-paid, bright people.
  7. Does the mention of the number 26 in your house require a drop cloth and tub of vaseline? I'm betting it does.
  8. To add a little more information to the discussion, in those last 26 ABs.... .307/.379/.500/.879 Is it a small sample? Certainly, but so is the first 40 ABs where he hit .100. And, as example1 mentioned, in those first 40 he hit several balls well but right at someone, which is supported by the early part of his LD/FB/GB graph. http://www.fangraphs.com/graphs/8370_2B_daily_full_9_20060921.png He's been hot lately, despite last night's 0/5 - against Johann Santana, go figure - and the results are less FBs with the same amount GBs and more LDs. I think he's a keeper.
  9. He was hitting about .120 through 40 ABs, so I'd say the jump to .182 in his last 20 is encouraging. But, what do I know?
  10. ERA = ( ER/IP) x 9 Based on those numbers his RA - Run Average - is 2.70. If any of those runs weren't earned, then his ERA - Earned Run Average - would be lower.
  11. Good to see the Big Man set the new mark. His will be the next statue to grace the outside of the park.
  12. A little late there, Sparky. He's had one of those on board since his career began. He needs to drop the PR machine and stop caring about what everyone thinks. He walks, talks, acts, and waffles like a politician out kissing babies. He's a ball player, and that's what he needs to be, not everyone's friend.
  13. Tough call. Public perception had him on the hot-seat going into the year, but I don't know if The U did. The university president wants the program cleaned up a bit, and she doesn't like the thug image, so it's tough to figure how much leash Coker has as long as he plays by her rules. That's before the season, though. He's a goner now. The public perception is too strong for Shalayla to keep him around.
  14. Coker watch? I live in Florida. It isn't a watch, it's a countdown.
  15. Dye was hitting 5th with Pierzynski behind him for about the first 4 months of the year. His lack of walks is all his, not lineup protection.
  16. It is quite stunning, isn't it?
  17. There's his due. Not what I had in mind, but any plate appearance where no outs are made is a good one.
  18. If you had a cold and said that, I might think you were calling her gay.
  19. Nice. I had no expectation of anything good happening there. Coco and WMP have become the two most dreaded players to see coming up with runners on.
  20. Pedroia's having a good night at the dish.
