  1. Crikey, he's really all over the place. Nobody swing.
  2. McCarthy is all over the place. I hope he misses with a cookie to Tek.
  3. Fooled him good with that slider.
  4. Don't like Tex up here the way he's swinging lately.
  5. The game begins, and the bitching begins. TW101, you are such a f***ing skirt.
  6. Watching Damon try and put some mustard on the throw is one of the funnier things in baseball. It reminds me of a gym class when the unathletic kid got pissed at being teased and tried to throw the ball really hard. His throwing motion just looks awkward like that.
  7. Damon is starting to look a bit Williams-esque in CF. Good times.
  8. Let's recap: Yanks lose - Sheff, small slump to start, but raking now, and RJ, rocky start, but pitching very well now Yanks get - Gascaino, TJ Sanchez, Dusseldorf and Jackson who have struggled in AAA, and Whelan, who looks good.........in AA So, while the window is closing with their core, they make these moves, and the pitching and offense have been inconsistent. Cashman has some 'splainin' to do.
  9. THERE IT GOES.....CYA!
  10. Hell of a play by Kotchman. Stellar.
  11. The Desalvo myth is getting revealed.
  12. Immaterial. It looks like the Angels still have you in their back pocket. Worry about beating them first.
  13. Does anybody else not see the full-fledged irony in this? a700 is complaining about not being able to sign established, proven vets, because we signed a, well, established, proven vet. That would be like jsinger complaining about keeping prospects. Too funny.
  14. http://www.independentcritics.com/images/unforgivenSPLASH.jpg Will Munny: Who's the fellow owns this shithole? Will Munny: You, fat man. Speak up. Skinny Dubois: Uh, I... I own this establishment. I bought the place from Greeley for a thousand dollars. Will Munny: You better clear outta there. Man: Yes, sir. Little Bill Daggett: Just hold it right there. Hold it...! Little Bill Daggett: Well, sir, you are a cowardly son of a bitch! You just shot an unarmed man! Will Munny: Well, he should have armed himself if he's going to decorate his saloon with my friend. Little Bill Daggett: You'd be William Munny out of Missouri. Killer of women and children. Will Munny: That's right. I've killed women and children. I've killed just about everything that walks or crawled at one time or another. And I'm here to kill you, Little Bill, for what you did to Ned.
  15. If this is what you are going to bring to the board, then, and don't take this the wrong way, but I think I liked you better when you took 14 months off between posts. Lester still has a lot of work to do before he's ready to battle an MLB lineup. First of all, he's still recovering his stamina from an offseason of cancer treatment. Then his rehab got delayed by forearm cramping. A kid who has yet to throw more than 65 pitches in an outing in the last 9 months is not ready to compete at the ultimate level. He needs to show he's ready to dump the pitch-count, and do it with good results, and then sustain for a few starts before he should get consideration.
  16. Given the way the officials and commissoner's office has been during these playoffs, I put more credence in the validity of the WWE results than this year's NBA finals. Seriously. This league has serious credibility problems, IMO.
  17. Draft picks? What draft picks? You have to offer Schilling arbitration to get those. Since they won't reduce the arbitration award from his current salary, that is a defacto extension. I agree with letting him go based on his performance thus far, but they'll get nothing out of it.
  18. Because he totally interupts their lives, dragging them through a lawsuit, costing them legal fees, all because his son was a f***-up. Look, it's an unfortunate event, but what information is going to erase the fact that his kid had serious problems? In the end, no matter who served what drink, or whether or not the tow truck driver used flares, or the amount of upkeep the driver performed on his car, it won't change the fact that Hancock was lush and that's what killed him. Why does everyone else have to go through suffering while the father comes to grips with this?
  19. The other defendants are, and I'm not kidding, the tow truck driver, and get this, the guy who was getting a tow. This is pretty close to the pinnacle of douche-baggery. As for the liability of the bartender. That is a s***** law. People should be held responsible for their actions. End of story. The bartender, manager, and owner are there to do their job and make money. Not babysit f***tards who can't make a good decision. I mean, why don't we sue the state for making alcohol legal, because that enabled the bartender to be negligent. Of course, it's the federal government's fault for repealing prohibition, so they are next.
  20. Wang allowed a lot of baserunners in that "successful" start. I tend to think the final ER line was more a function of luck than anything else. And take the "success" with this rather large grain of salt. It's the first time he's ever done that. In other words, it's totally contrary to the scouting report. No more element of surprise.
  21. Through 4 vs. Syracuse 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K -- 44 pitches through 5 3 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 1K -- 65 pitches EDIT: Evening over. Mmm'bop comes in and tosses a perfect 6th, no K's though.
  22. Can you explain the (lack of) logic there? How did drafting Bird a year before he was eligible and taking nothing in the first round for that year result in bad karma? That was a bold and risky move, but Auerbach recognized talent like no other, so it came up aces.
  23. Pedro always claimed the inner half. Jeter and Soriano always aggressively dive to cover the plate. Neither changed their approach, so a HBP is no surprise. There was no intent to injure though. That's just baseball. What's funny is that Yankee fans think every time Jeter gets hit it's intentional. The guy is one of the worst divers I've ever seen. He has to dodge like he's being brushed back when it's inside on the plate. His approach, with his proficiency at slapping the outer half pitch the other way through the hole, means there are going to be some HBP's. Each and every one of them are as much his fault as they are the pitcher's.
