    2008 NFL Season

I'm catching the flip side of that this week. Farve vs the Bengals wretched defense, so I figure he'll put up 300 and 3. A fumble and a pick, so far.

Just saw the replay the halftime show. Kendall's an O-lineman, and he only had the ball because he caught a pass tipped straight up at the line. Knock it down, f***o.

Who the f*** is P Kendall, and why is he touching the ball for the 'Skins so he can fumble, letting what looks like a 'Skins score go the other way for a defensive TD right before the half?

Let me just say, right now, in terms of FFB, I hate Chris Cooley. Nothing, nothing, nothing, I sit him -- BOOM 19 point game, I start him -- fumble. And on top of that, he plays for the team I root for. Get your s*** in gear, f***stick.

The Bucs offense looks a lot better with Garcia at the helm. The D has played big in the first quarter also, but Rosario probably deserves a Christmas card from them. He missed his blocking assignment on the blocked punt for a TD. Then the INT came off his hands and was tipped up for the Bucs to take it down to the 10.
  6. You know what would be best? Keep the ump behind the plate. Let him go into his histrionics for called 3rd strikes. Let it seem like we still have the human element. But put an earpiece in his ear that emits a beep when the pitch is a strike. These guys continually prove that they can't be trusted with the edge of the strikezone.
  7. This is true and isn't a problem to me if it's consistent. The problem is these guys can't even be consistent, and it is since they can't that the thread / discussion was created.
  8. I was pretty unimpressed by the Mickey Mouse fans last night, too. I watched Friday at a bar and had no sound, so I didn't get a chance to observe this in game 1. I've never seen a ballpark look so disinterested and quiet when the home team pitcher has two strikes on a guy with runners on in extra innings ..... in the playoffs. Nothing more than a polite golf clap.
  9. This. Giving that strike to Price was huge. He'd just walked his first batter and Kotsay was working the count against him, fouling off his pitches in the strikezone. Called differently, it goes to 2-2, and Price has to press a bit with runners on 1st and 2nd. We aren't guaranteed anything there, but when you take the same pitch location in the next half of the inning and award a leadoff runner to the home team in extras, it changes the context and strategy of the whole inning. I'll take both as a ball, or both as a strike, but not arbitrarily calling them different. Oh, and if I hear Dewayne "McPoodle" Staats ever bitch about Tampa getting jobbed by the umps again, I'll hunt him down and poop on him.
  10. This isn't a huge shock to me. LSU got pushed to the limit by Auburn, who can play D, but is awful offensively.
  11. I think if they rule it a non-fumble, there's plenty of time on the clock. The clock stops while they establish the yardline and move the chains in college ball. There were 5 seconds on the clock when he was "downed". Immaterial now, the right call was made.
  12. Be interesting to see how they rule on this last play. I think he fumbled prior to being downed, due to the fact that landed on a UNC player.
  13. Clausen is looking like a late game version of Eli Manning prior to the '08 playoffs. Butch Davis has that program heading in the right direction.
  14. Clausen is ripping it up against a legit defense this week. He's looking like the real deal.
  15. Best game of the year thus far.
  16. Sooners fake the punt at midfield and come up short. Stoops looks like he swallowed his headset.
  17. Texas scores to make it 28-27, Oklahoma. The Longhorns look legit. On another note, are there 4 words that say, without directly saying, "huge college football game" better than..... YOU ARE LOOKING LIVE! Love me some Musberger for a big game. Guy is the best in the business, if you ask me.
  18. Where's Todd and Joe? I want recaps of what it was like at the Trop last night.
  19. Local sports talk in Tampa is 620 WDAE.
  20. Nah, I don't think this series ends in Fenway for either team. I think you get your consolation prize at home.
  21. Game 5 is in Fenway. Is your prediction changing, Forrest?
  22. If the past doesn't matter, why is your 10-8 this year relevant? The 8-1 for the Angels certainly wasn't in their series, which is why they were brought up. Way to live up to your username.
  23. "Should" not "will". Baseball has too many variables for the better team to win every time, which is why it so often doesn't.
  24. Yeah, just like we had trouble with the Angels. The fact is, the Red Sox, by objective measures, are a better baseball team than the Rays, just like they were better than the Angels. You can point to your overall record, and your head to head record, and I'll point to the more predictive measures of team batting line, team pitching line, and run differential. The Sox should win this series, although it should be closer than the LDS against LAA.
