  1. This is chock full of wishful thinking. Adam Dunn isn't going to take a psuedo-part-time job to "showcase" his talents for a future contract. His talent level has been established over the last 8 years. Furthermore, the market probably hasn't hit bottom yet. Entertainment lags industry, so next year's FA market is likely to be worse than this one. His best bet is to take a deal of moderate length to bridge the gap to a recovered market. Finally, the best remaining offensive players seem to be playing a game of chicken where they wait out the other guys in an attempt to be the "best option left" who can take advantage of last minute desperation. The last point is just IMO. EDIT: Oh, and that's before we look at spot for him. Mark Teixeira is orders of magnitude better than Mike Lowell, so you make that kind of pick-up and trade Lowell, and playing time is easy to figure out. Dunn is closer to a zero-sum tradeoff with Lowell due to his defensive deficiencies. Yes, he provides depth, but 1) I don't imagine he cares one bit about the Sox depth if he's riding pine occaissionally, and 2) he won't come as cheap as some are suggesting.
  2. Hall of Very Good, but not HOF. If he could have taken the field more regularly between his phenom success in StL and his recent roll in 'Zona, then I think he'd make an interesting case, one that probably gets in, but that void is too big a black mark, IMO.
  3. That was a pretty bad call. Technically, it's the right call, but it's totally contrary to the intent of the rule.
  4. Yeah, and he threw it behind the coverage. You see that all the time on the sideline route where QB's throw it short and the WR shuts down his route to let the DB breeze past. The only difference there is the WR had to read his throw. If Holmes misreads it, it falls harmlessly to the ground. So only his guy has a shot at the ball, a good throw when the other team has pressure on the pocket.
  5. Are you kidding? He's been throwing the ball on the money between layers of coverage all game. He extended that play, coverage broke down, and he put the ball right on the spot where it needed to be.
  6. Oh, and that is one hell of a play by Ben. He extends the play so well.
  7. Holmes in open space is fun to watch.
  8. He may be overrated, any rookie who gets to the AFC Championship is going to be, but he's not bad either. That's one hell of a defense making him look pedestrian.
  9. Byron Leftwich? Against the Ravens? Ouch.
  10. Roethlisberger is throwing darts out there.
  11. I think they get killed in the SB. By either AFC North team.
  12. Oh man, all over his leg. How do you let that decide a game?
  13. No flag there? That's pretty questionable. I don't mind the Eagles losing, but that was suspect.
  14. First half McNabb is back. One more shot for the game.
  15. Great catch by Westbrook, and smart play going OB so they can get another snap before the 2:00 min warning.
  16. Demps really screwed up there. He went for the slobber-knocker hit, when if he goes for the wrap up he probably stops him short.
  17. You know, as a Redskins fan, I don't really have much love for the Eagles, but I have tons of respect for Brian Dawkins. If he's on the field, you get all he's got.
  18. No, tell us how you really feel.
  19. Amazing. Great play-action on that play.
  20. Wow, weird play.
  21. "It was that damn Dan Marino's fault."
  22. We have a ballgame.
  23. Starting to get a little more pressure, which is a first semester course in how to beat Kurt Warner.
