  1. And the clubs they used couldn't impart as much spin to a ball less proned to spinning. The technology that improves the quality of the course improves the quality of the equipment too.
  2. Work. We finished up our backlog of contracts in FL and it was either move to Texas for this project, or look for work in FL. Hello Texas.
  3. Busy working on the house in Texas. It was a rental before we bought it, and renters tend to let things go. The whole thing needed cleaning and paint, I'm talking every room. All the fans and fixtures were ugly barely functioning junk, so they needed replacing. Then, as we got rooms done, unpacking all our stuff. Plus, there's an inground pool, which was full of swamp water, leaves, and frogs. Needed to clean that out, repair all the pool equipment (pump motors needed replacing, filter needed new grids and cleaning), and then there's maintenance on it. We've finished about 75% of the work inside. Then it's outside for some landscaping, looking at what needs fixing on the hot tub and getting it up and running, some decking needs to be replaced, repair some siding and fascia at the roof, painting the structure of the deck roof, etc, etc. I'll be around some nights for the gamethread, but most nights I'll be knocking that stuff out. I'll post pictures of the finished product once it's all done.
  4. I think you are looking for Schrodinger's wave probability function, which yields an imaginary result. As in, they will only score in your imagination.
  5. What the eff, MDC, what's up with the Brian Bruney impersonation re: the control lately?
  6. Is this possible, given that stated anatomy?
  7. I'm aware of the stats. I don't think Tiger's peers match up to Jack's. There's no Player, no Palmer, no Johnny Miller, no Tom Watson. The closest thing to those caliber players is Mickleson and Singh (and now maybe Harrington), but they all fall short of the group I mentioned, IMO. This directly impacts how often each of them won respectively.
  8. While I agree that nobody should be above criticism or critique, e1 does bring up a valid point, IMO. It seems there's no pleasing you sometimes. You don't like when they shop the trash heap, but you didn't like the Drew/Lugo/Matsuzaka acquisitions either, and they all represented best available at the time they were signed. You remind me of my wife. We went to a DMB concert in Tampa at an outdoor venue. We had a hotel room across the street, the kids were with the in-laws back in Orlando, and Dave was playing. Now, it did rain that night, but it was in the summer, and Florida summer rain is refreshing. She let it ruin her night, though. Take a step back and look at what's happened over the last 6 years. Compare this 6 years to any in your time as a Sox fan. Look at the state of the players in the pipeline to compliment (whether it be directly on the field or through trade for established players) the existing core they've brought into the league. Stop and smell the roses, man. Pom poms don't need to be at the ready, but let this thing play out before griping about it ad naseum. The SS position blew up in their face this year. However, they are still a good bet to play in October, they still have one of the best 1/2 pitcher combos to throw in an October series, and they have the offseason to figure that position out.
  9. I'd love to see Jack in his prime with today's equipment. I think people who have Woods on the mantle of best ever would be very surprised. Jack not only won more (to date), but he's got a ridiculous number of 2nd, 3rd, etc place finishes at majors. He was always in contention and a threat to come from behind. Woods pretty much is on and walks away with it, or he's off and not winning.
  10. The HR by itself, and I'd say, meh. The HR, the double, the two walks....keep playing him. Don't go apeshit, Tito, and start hitting him 3rd yet, but keep him in the lineup and let him rest against LH starters.
  11. Calling SS anything other than a complete disappointment since 2004 is an outright lie. Renteria was supposed to be an upgrade over OCab. He was marginally better with the bat, but sucked like Elton John aboard the USS Enterprise in the field. Alex Gonzalez was supposed to improve the position in the field, and he did, but his bat was so limp it needed Viagra. Lugo was supposed to come in a do both, to be a weapon like he was in TB. Disappointment. Lowrie was supposed to translate his success in the minors at the major league level. He hasn't because he can't stay healthy, which is, again, disappointing. Now we are stuck with Nick Green, a career AAAA player who is doing his best lately to normalize the numbers from his decent start, and a slow, worse in the field, and worse hitting Alex Gonzalez.........disappointing.
  12. This is quickly turning into the pipedream thread.
  13. That is the rule. Since the discussion was about Matsuzaka needing to come off the DL before 9/1, I was referring to the fact that he'd been on the 25-man during the April-August timeframe, thus making him eligible if he comes back after 9/1.
  14. With 1 out and the tying run on 3rd? Absolutely, play for the game ending DP. Do you pitch to Pedroia with 2nd and 3rd, 1 out, in a 1-run game?
  15. Have you sampled fresh chili peppers when you are enjoying your wine spritzers? They are very flavorfull. The heat is just an added bonus.
  16. Mom used to grow those in the garden. They are so hot you can't eat them. She'd make jars of hot sauce that might have 2 or 3 peppers in a whole mason jar, and a spoonful would heat up a whole pot of chili. Serrano's are great because you can dice them and put them directly on food uncooked. It's hot, and tasty as hell, but the heat is managble. The wife made some salsa beef in the crockpot, and threw some fresh serrano on top. Zing.
  17. Brooks has it like this... Rangers -8 / +5 = -3 net strikes lost Sox -11 / +3 = -8 net strikes lost
  18. SERRANO PEPPERS! Man these things have some heat.
