1. San Antonio. Been here about 2 months.
2. Best thing about moving to Texas? I don't have to listen to that poodle whine for 3 hours during a baseball game.
3. http://brooksbaseball.net/pfx/zoneplotn.php?xml=http://gd2.mlb.com/components/game/mlb/year_2009/month_08/day_04/gid_2009_08_04_bosmlb_tbamlb_1//pbp/pitchers/452657.xml&sp_type=1 Guess the bottom of the zone doesn't exist if there's a B on your cap.
4. Must be his pitch framer. Just ask Gom.
5. Oh, I don't know, maybe it's because they contradict each other. If a good pitcher can pitch well despite a bad catcher, then a terrible pitcher can pitch poorly despite a good catcher. I'm not suggesting Martinez is particularly good, but your contradiction does exist. They aren't compatible because you fail to extend the full meaning of what you are saying to the counterpoint.
6. Since July 1, 2009:
Pitcher|ERA Fat Sabby|4.89 Horseface|4.82 You know Sergio?|7.90
For this to be true, you need to convince us you'd say two of these guys are rolling if they put up the same stats pitching for the Sox.
7. A guy says this.... ...and then somewhere down the line you say this.... Seriously? You just said the results were depedent on the pitcher, not the catcher. You see the incongruity here, right?
8. You say that, but you also say this.... Gloating about when you are right, should that even happen, when there is a 5 pound sack full of stuff that you have been wrong about, is essentially saying, "When my crap looks like a Van Gogh, then I'll call myself an artist." You may see it differently, but then you'd be wrong. Again.
9. Yeah, it's really not an either/or situation. It's both. Enjoy it. EDIT: At the risk of running into "preconceived" notions about what I'm saying, I'm agreeing with you and directing the "Enjoy it" part at everyone.
10. I had diplomacy responsibilities. I carried a 7.62 mm diplomacy stick.
11. Please do stay home and tune in. That way, I won't run into your whiney ass the next time I go to the ball park.
12. I'm only responding in kind, or did you not tell me to "f*** off" first?
13. Very nice AB by the nerdy, scrubby ass rookie.
14. Nice ched to get Huff.
15. f***in' scrub.
16. You got less. You got Lugo. Lugo invented "not ruling", whatever the f*** that is supposed to mean.
17. If your desire is accuracy, can we drop the mild tone of "tend to favor" and characterize it correctly? There is no "tend to favor" with you. Despite your professed enthusiasm, I can recall no situation where you preferred the prospect as an option. Your preference rate is 100%. This isn't "tending", it's doctrine. So, f*** off with your doctrine. What it adds to the discourse is already assumed by all familiar with your "tending".
18. Dunn should be a DH, and quite frankly, I think ours is better. Prior to his injury last year he was better, and since recovering from the slump he was in to start the year, he's been better. So, since he'd have to take the field, I don't get the appeal of a Dunn-type player. It's not like we are talking about a complete hitter, like Manny was. Dunn's a TTO hitter with horrible defense. Too many negatives for his lone positive, IMO.
19. This. His range may have improved from the beginning of the season, but that doesn't mean it's any good. He still looks like he's wearing ankle weights.
20. Buchholz + Anyone not named Bard, and I think they should have done the deal. If Bard was a sticking point for Toronto, then it was smart to pass. Papelbon has been a ticking BSL all season. Bard is looking like good insurance should they need someone else to finish out games down the stretch and in October. Speaking of insurance, this is why Kotchman makes sense. Like Kilo has mentioned, he's an ideal bench player. Not only does he play good D at his position, he also stikes out seldomly. He'll make a great PH. Which is nice, but what he really does is provide insurance for the ticking clock that is Lowell's hip. If you, and you know who I'm talking to, are going to get up on the soapbox and moan about an OF should Drew go down, at least be honest and apply that same concern to Lowell. Failure to acknowledge this benefit makes it look like bitching for the sake of bitching. Yes, Martinez can play 1B full-time if Lowell goes down, but then we don't have a backup C. Not only is it a similar concern, but it is one that can't be addressed through our minor league system. Our best and closest to ready minor league prospect can play all three OF positions. We don't really have anyone showing signs of readiness at the CIF. It's hilarious, but totally unsurprising, that it's being suggested that Reddick can't replace Kotsay right now. Kotsay f***ing sucks. Full stop. I can understand favoring some experience over giving a prospect a shot, but this is beyond reason. It's pathological.
21. We are getting things done at the new house. When I'm done with it all I'll post pictures. There's still a bit left to do, and as soon as I get done scarfing my dinner while making a few posts, I'm back to work. I should be back to normal around Sept.
