  1. Is it "something like" 34 to 33, or is it 36 to 26, because when I go to BBRef, that's what I see? You let me know what you find though. 10 runs Why does it need to be a premium defensive position to want the better defender? 1 to -8 by UZR/150. 9 runs Just based on this year's numbers, Matt Holliday is 2 wins better than Jason Bay. On top of that, they'd net a sandwich pick for a type-A swap out. 2 win improvement (at one position) + a top 50 pick = marginal (to you) Assinine.
  2. Yeah, I wasn't sure, so I went with the edit. He's got connections to Miami, and the largest hispanic poulation in Miami is Cuban, but it didn't sound right.
  3. Wow, really? Smells a whole lot like the "marginal" upgrade from Teixeira to our 3B statue. 20x all-star, FTW.
  4. Not really. Sure, it's not the outcome I wanted, but the amount it upset me requires quantum mechanics for measurement. You want to know what's really sad? That on a day where enjoyment should come easily for you, you can't seem to find it without fooling yourself about how it makes me feel. Petty little man.
  5. It's no cop out. Crow can go back and forth here for those who engage in taunting, but the act of "having" to "take it" is BS. "Have to" implies no choice in the matter. There's a choice, don't surround yourself with Sox fans. In fact, if anyone has no choice, it's the Sox fans here. I'll guarantee some came here hoping to talk about their team with like minded fans, but they get stuck with douchebags like you.
  6. For the record, you didn't "take" anything from us. Whatever comments were made were not thrust upon you. This is a forum dedicated to the Red Sox. You elected to come here. Whatever comments you read earlier this year that you feel warrant karmic retribution were encountered only because of your desire to troll. Facts is facts.
  7. I don't think we have what it takes to land him (this is considering Buchholz off the table - which he more than likely is at this point). If Bowden and the 20-Year All-Star had put up better years, then we might be able to swing it, but I think cream of our prospect crop will fall a little short. EDIT: This is about landing Hanleymort.
  8. I realize he's been the main topic McFantasy07's posts in every possible thread. My comment was directed at this specific thread topic.
  9. Because he will make the Red Sox so much better. What don't you get about that? Seriously, there's only one superstar young SS better than Tulowitski, and he happens to play for a team with a history of moving talent, no matter how good, once they start getting expensive. While I don't like to partake in wild speculation, he's probably the place to start the discussion.
  10. The 'Canes are playing pretty sloppy ball in the rain, and the Hokies are taking advantage of every misstep.
  11. There are 4 pitchers who will make the rotation next year. What number (1 through 5) you assign to each is your prerogative. Beckett, Lester, Buchholz, Matsuzaka, and __________ will be the starting rotation. If the blank is Pedro (with another flier injury rehab type in Pawtucket as possible insurance), I'm OK with that. If it's a bigger name like Lackey, who subsequently moves up the list, I like it a little more. From a money perspective, having Bowden start the year in Pawtucket as part of the insurance policy is probably the right move. However, if he's part of the acquisition cost for a bigger name pitcher (named or not-named, wink, wink, nudge, nudge, saynomore, saynomore), then OK.

    V-Tek

They've paid more to be rid of a player. Comparitvely, dumping $3M to not have to deal with his suck is a bargain.
  13. It's Felix Hernandez. Don't ask me what he has to do with Valdemort.
  14. Is it wrong that when I hear Chip Caray's voice, I want him to get fisted with the heavy end of a baseball bat?
  15. Chip Caray just lied to America. He marvelled at Jeter's ability to get 2-strike hits and remarked, "I wonder what his batting average is with 2-strikes? I bet it's pretty high." Moments later, tells us that he has 71 of his 201 hits were 2-strike hits this year, as if to provide support to his original suggestion. Well, my question is, how did he come about this information? I would think he looked it up. Low and behold, he does have 71 hits, but he's hitting .254 with 2-strikes. Any moderately attentive baseball fan would tell you that a majority of his hits came with 2-strikes because he sees a lot of pitches. Pay up, Chip.
  16. Nick Swisher is the prototypical mistake hitter. He looks for pitches in his location and his location only. If it's not there he either can't handle it, or he's fishing for walks and gets called out on strikes a lot.
  17. We? Guardians fan, right? Secondly, it's September, the bullpen is very deep. For instance, Hunter Jones and Michael Bowden aren't in the acutal "bullpen".
  18. Failsbury.
  19. JFC Chip, it wasn't even close. f***ing hyperbolic douche-bag.
  20. Don't even throw down, because you aren't catching anyone, so why risk a bad throw that gives up another base.
  21. Oppo. Nice.
  22. Yeah, but how many RBI does he have?
  23. Are you serious? With Varitek, Gonzalez, and Ellsbury up? The only decent hitter had to do it with 2-outs. I thought there was a very good chance they didn't score.
