  1. Matt Perisho, recently picked up by the Sox from the Florida Marlins, last night pitched in his first relief appearance for the Paw Sox going 1 2/3 innings, allowing 1 hit and striking out 1
  2. ah jeez if they do im gonna be so pissed
  3. another roster move will make its way to the clubhouse, Remlinger will join the team for tonight's game. Im thinking probably Delcarmen will be sent down to Triple A to work on his stuff
  4. from Red Sox.com Red Sox acquire Remlinger By Ian Browne / MLB.com Mike Remlinger was 0-3 with a 4.91 ERA in 35 games with the Cubs this season. The Red Sox got the second left-hander they've been looking for in the bullpen, acquiring veteran Mike Remlinger from the Cubs on Tuesday for Minor League right-hander Olivo Astacio. But Remlinger isn't what you'd call a lefty specialist. In fact, his track record proves that he is tougher on right-handed hitters. Thus far this season, Remlinger has held righties to a .210 average while lefties have hit him at a .326 clip. In 2004, Remlinger held righties to .191 average, compared to .303 against lefties. By bringing Remlinger into the fold, the Sox have essentially replaced Alan Embree, the left-hander who was designated for assignment on July 20. Remlinger will team with Mike Myers as lefties in the Boston bullpen, complementing righties Mike Timlin, Chad Bradford, Manny Delcarmen and Curt Schilling. The fact that Remlinger isn't particularly effective against left-handed batters doesn't necessarily hurt the Red Sox. This is because Myers eats up lefties. The Cubs had designated Remlinger for assignment on Aug. 5 after the 39-year-old went 0-3 with a 4.91 ERA in 35 appearances. Remlinger was on the disabled list from May 21-June 5 with a non-displaced distal phalanx fracture in the fifth finger on his left hand. The Red Sox had hoped to add a lefty before the July 31 trade deadline -- the Twins' J.C. Romero was a name that came up frequently -- but were unsuccessful. But they were able to get Remlinger in a waiver transaction. The Red Sox also received cash considerations from the Cubs in the deal.
  5. seeing an instant replay or not, I know that he is fully aware of what hes doing and like he said in October "he'll do anything to win"
  6. haha he probably knew only way to come back and try to hit more homeruns than ruth was to call on his best friend steroids which now he is backing off after seeing what is happeing to fellow user raffy--Happy for this, a cheater such as Bonds has no right to go past Babe Ruth, who had used nothing but pure human power
  7. how can you beat when sox and d-rays are in a tied game, so tense you can cut it with a knife, and remy gets you to laugh by talking about this toothache that he has
  8. i wasnt friggin wripping at bill, a comment was made that as a 1st baseman, Millar, needs to hit more than 4 homeruns
  9. yes ms teacher, heres an apple then why is it ok for you for Bill to keep the ball in the park, why cant the same be said for millar
  10. all im saying is if you require 1st baseman of the Red Sox to be belting balls over the monster...
  11. um yeah Sara but fenway favorite Bill Mueller has only 5 homeruns this season, whos batting average and OBP are both just 10 points higher than kevin's, as well as having just 5 RBI's more
  12. shouldnt we talk about who has been struggling at bat for the Sox in 2005, which is Doug Mirabelli, dont get me wrong I like the guy. True hes only had 95 at bats but still his bagting average is a platry .211, with god his OBP is .292. Pales in big comparison to last year in 160 at bats had .281 average with OBP at .368
  13. actually Kevin Millar since the All Star Break has been doing good, 24 hits in 78 at bats (a .308 avg) 7 Doubles, 7 RBIs, 10 Runs Scored, 16 Walks, and 14 Ks, with his OBP at .417---Dont forget he wouldve had homerun # 5 if not for Lew Ford of the Twins
  14. guybo, noonanberg, etc. should check 'Rent's stats for August having 10 hits in 27 at bats, with an On Base % at .438
  15. last night's game Tony G was channeling Dave Roberts' speed, two runs scored just ahead of the tag including that infield single that he friggin scored from second base!!
  16. Ricky Bottacilo yes i have heard, he has been sent down to Triple A along with Matt Perisho who played for the Florida Marlins this season
  17. oh god i didnt hear about him, id rather have the Sox send up El Guapo from the Sox's minor league team in Florida
  18. every team has their bad fluke of errors as we saw this past wknd, i really dont think clusters of errors will be a continuing trend--dude you calm the "expletive" down, god enjoy the Sox being in 1st place 3 1/2 games ahead of the Yankees who wont even make October now that Johnson could be headed to the DL with lineup probably being Mussina, Leiter, Chacon, Small, and Hideo Nomo--Curt is coming back and is in fact finding his groove---the Sox are best offensive team in the American League at tops with 620 runs, and are 1st in batting average at .285---Well if you're a realist you'll agree that everyone was still pegging at this moment last season Sox's mere chances of seeing late October, as well as all of Sox Nation about to turn off their tvs while yankee fans starting to celebrate when the 4th game of the playoffs started--In baseball anything can happen so dont count out the Red Sox, 51 games have yet to be played...
  19. Red Sox have just made their second deal by signing another pitcher off of waivers, correct me if Im wrong but wasnt I hearing a lot on here and WEEI that Yankees would try at least to prevent any such deals
  20. im very happy to hear about this Remy where he wants to be Red Sox analyst is a perfect fit By Bill Griffith, Globe Staff | August 9, 2005 The negotiations, said Jerry Remy, took all of 15 minutes. ''Last August, Sean McGrail [NESN president/general manager] asked me to consider a contract extension," said the Red Sox analyst, who was going into the final year of his contract. ''We finally sat down over the winter and agreed on the basics in no more than 15 minutes." The result: a five-year extension that will keep Remy in the NESN booth through the 2010 season. McGrail said it was a no-brainer. ''He's a fixture in New England and most likely the hardest-working guy in baseball," said McGrail. ''We wanted to make sure he was going to stay with us." Remy left little doubt that's what he wanted, too. ''This is where I want to be," said Remy, who has broadcast more than 2,300 Sox games in his 18 years in the booth. ''The longer I do it, the more I enjoy it." How much? ''When it's over, I'll miss this more than I missed playing after I retired," he said. For younger members of Red Sox Nation, Remy, who grew up in Somerset, had a 10-year major league career, including seven seasons at second base for the Red Sox (1978-85) and a trip to the All-Star Game. ''I'm happy where I am," he said. ''This is where I want to finish. I'm a local guy. It's where I was brought up. We've established a lot of goodwill. I'd be foolish to do anything else." Remy didn't start out to market that goodwill, but he now has a website (http://www.theremyreport.com), plus RemDawg's hot dog stand, the RemDawg line of merchandise, and endorsement deals with Miller beer and Modell's Sporting Goods. ''Everything has come to me," he said. ''It's all been a natural spinoff." It started with the website, the idea of longtime friend John O'Rourke, who has continued to run the site and streamline its operation. This season, traffic has doubled on the site, with 3,000 visits on a slow day and up to 12,000 on a busy one. In addition, another 4,000 visit the message boards. Remy sold out his All-Star party at Fenway Park (1,000 tickets at $135 each) in advance and ''next year, it will be even bigger," he said. ''The .406 Club will be remodeled and the Sox can accommodate even more of us." ''None of this would have happened without John," said Remy. ''Nor without Trisha Saintelus-Curtis running the message board."' Remy points to the talent he's worked with in the booth: Ned Martin, Bob Kurtz, Sean McDonough, and Don Orsillo. But he adds, ''The people behind the scenes -- [producer] Russ Kenn, [director] Mike Narracci, and [associate producer] Adam Jupiter -- make it fun to go to work."He'll do a national game for Fox a week from Saturday when the Sox visit the Angels, but those calls haven't been as frequent this year, a byproduct of the team's World Series championship. ''The big guys [Joe Buck, Tim McCarver] have been doing all the Sox games this year," said Remy. For the future, more things seem headed Remy's way. There was talk of adding RemDawg hot dog stands both downtown and at Logan Airport, but a restaurant deal may come first. ''A RemDawg Grill, somewhere between a sports bar and the Capital Grille, is what we'd like to do," said Remy. ''Something like Harry Caray's place in Chicago." But it's all predicated on the daily schedule that has Remy arriving at the ballpark by 2:30 p.m. for a 7 p.m. game, making his rounds of the field, clubhouse, and manager's office, before grabbing a bite to eat. After that, it's off to RemDawg's, doing a spot on the pregame show, and then taping the opening for the telecast. ''The timing has been perfect for all of it," he said. ''The first two years we had the website, the team went to the postseason and won the World Series." Neither the team nor its analyst seems to be slowing down.
  21. when did the errors start to happen most recently? playing at the metrodome where just about always play their worst baseball there. excluding timlin and rent, errors have been made by cora who just played his first game ever in the hot spot known as 3rd base, Petagine who hasnt played in a big league game since '98, and then there is Mueller who's now been confirmed being hurt--before this came up the sox went 7 straight games errorless and can be able to do it again
  22. jeez i tell ya, his game yesterday was just unvelievable, did everything in big ways--hoping for next season since he has had experience playing 1st base that hopefully Sox resign him and make him the starting 1st baseman for 06 since Pedroia is most likely getting the call up
  23. Bellhorn, who when does come back will become the backup player to Tony G, went 1 for 4 in todays game and made his 2nd fielding error while in Pawtucket batting 4 hits in 30 at bats (.133 avg) Double, 4 RBIs, 3 Runs scored, 1 Walk, 10 Ks
  24. ok,, yeaaa Red Sox bullpen: Mike Timlin- 1.46 ERA, 2 saves Chad Bradford- 1.93 ERA Mike Myers- 2.61 ERA Curt Schilling- 5.88 ERA, 9 saves in 10 opportunities (before he came back his ERA was under 8) and yes um dude a closer role is a nailbiting situation like how many one-run leads has Mo protected? think before you speak Jeremi Gonzalez- 6.32 ERA, held down the power hitting Rangers in 2.2 innings allwoing just 2 hits Manny Delcarmen- 7.34 ERA, rookie pitcher who is finding his stride yes i will give you fact about wade miller who more or less i am not impressed by him. Wakefield has won his 3rd straight start, who averages 7 innings or more each game to give his offense a chance. Once Curt comes back to the starting role and Foulke back as the closer, the inept Bronson would be moved to the bullpen to help more with long relief.
  25. yeah it could be do-able since Gonzalez can go longer than Miller, probably be something like Schilling Wells Clement Wakefield Gonzalez Arroyo taking Gonzalez's role of long reliever in the pen
